I had my final interview last week with the store manager and was offered a fair salary. I asked him if I'm hired, he said I am, if I will pass the drug test. He referred me to another manager and was told that I will have an orientation on Thursday. But a day before the orientation, he called that I have to go thru the drug test and background check and he forgot to tell me that day. He said that it will only take 3 days to get the results. Its been a week now and I haven't heard anything from them. Should I call them and ask about my application?

I'd give the hiring manager a call in a 'just touching base' kind of way, yes. It's been longer than you were told...

Congrats!!!
My wife had a background check/drug test for a position in Charlotte and got the job a few months back and since then said that a lot of the applicants for the various positions in the company call a few days after the interview and they are more curious if they passed the drug test or not than if they got the job....!!
When she went to get a clearance cert from the Pooooooolice in NC and the Police in MA at the Courthouse in Charlotte, the guy in the queue in front of her was doing the same and after he paid his fee he lined up to give his details to get his clearance certificate but was arrested there and then on an outstanding warrant and as he was being hauled off to a cell, she heard him complain that he should have been arrested **BEFORE** he paid his fee.
Best of luck in the new job!
