I am LPR and have filed for my wife in august 2004. As it is really long wait time, so I am thinking to apply for V-Visa in islamabad embassy (pakistan). Does anyone have any idea about V-Visa (Form DS-3052 and DS-156)? Is this visa is only for the cases applied before December 2000 or any one can apply for it after 3 years wait time? Do I have any other optionto bring my wife and son in US so they can wait here in US for their case?

You cannot apply for the V visa as spouses (husbands and wives) and unmarried children under the age of 21 of lawful permanent residents may apply for V visas under these conditions:

* Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) petitioner MUST have filed the I-130 immigrant visa petition on or before December 21, 2000;
* Priority date is at least three years old;
* Priority date is not current;
* Applicant has not already had an immigrant visa interview or been scheduled for an interview;
* Petition is not already at an embassy or consulate abroad; and
* Applicant is otherwise eligible as an immigrant

Here's what the V-visa actually is (once you read through the description): basically a "deficit reducer" (as US gov can collect revenues for this with 0 work output). The ones eligible for V-visa are exactly the same as those who would be allocated visa numbers in the first place!
