We entered on 04/08/2007 and still no welcome letter and no card in the mail.
28 calendar days and 20 working weekdays gone so far since we entered.

Called the USCIS customer service line and they said that they are just a call center and do not have the ability to look up status of cases to find out if and where our card was mailed.

Hi there. Well, my husband entered on a CR-1 visa at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge (Canada to US--Buffalo) on April 21st. He got his welcome letter on May 7th. We had heard nothing from social security and called them twice. On the second call they told him that he was not in the system and that he would have to come in. So he went in and reapplied (even though he had checked the box on the 230 requesting the card) in person on May 7th. He received the card today, May 14th. We still haven't gotten the green card yet. I'll let you all know when we do.

Same thing happened to my wife's social security card. But her green card arrived days after the welcome letter.

Okay, we finally got everything.

Entered on CR-1 April 21. 2007.
Rec'd welcome letter May 7, 2007.
Rec'd social sec. card May 14, 2007.
Rec'd green card May 18th, 2007.

All in all not bad....all within one month. My husband also already got a job and we will be relocating within 3 weeks to our new home. We are so happy. After 3 years we finally get to be together. Hurray!
user786
ok finally we got our welcome letter today (05/21/2007)
we did our POE on 04/08/2007 so it took about 6 weeks for the welcome letter.
No SS card yet and no green card yet but USCIS system does show card production ordered on 05/17/2007

Wow, they really need to set up a proper procedure for this kind of stuff. My case seems to be quite backwards and yours is going very slow.

I arrived at POE Los Angeles 05/30/07, received SSN 06/11/07 ... no green card or welcome letter yet though.
