Hi, in Jame's shortcuts he mentions an "authorization for release of federal tax data" form and has a link to download it. Thing is, I can find no reference to that form being needed in the instructions for the I-864 nor in the instructions sent from the NVC in the I-864/AOS packet? Am I just missing it or don't they require it anymore. I will include it if needed, although it will slow us down because I will need to have my wife download, sign and send it to me from London because we filled jointly in 2006. So, if it is not required by the NVC I would rather not have to waste the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!!

It's not mentioned in the instructions (the 2 page doc entitled "Important Notice for Sponsors / Read This Before Submitting Form I-864") but it should have been included separately in the packet -- unless, as you suggest, they no longer require it, which I would doubt but who knows. I would call NVC if having to get one signed by your spouse at this point would cause a delay.

BTW, the possessive of my name is "James's" not "Jame's"! I'll have to ask aussiewench to fix that little error, it seems to be self-perpetuating . . . .

But you were on the K-1 visa track, no? Only CR-1/IR-1 visa seekers would get the form during their "stay" in NVC.

When our case was at the NVC they did not require the tax info release form, they did not ask for it and we did not send it.

I think it may have to do with the new structure of the I864 form.

Finally, it was nice to see you James. Your shortcut helped (is still helping, for sure) lot of people including me.

If I remember correctly, NVC did send me the "Authorization of Tax Release Form."

Hmm, perhaps they've changed things during the six months between when you and riblet did your I-864. Although I don't see any mention of an authorization for release of tax info on the most recent I-864, just authorization for release of social security info.

If anyone else who has done their I-864 in the past three months could step up and bear witness here re: whether they were sent the authorization form, that would be a good thing.

I received the I864 form in May 7 and it just tells us to read the Affidavit of Support instructions posted at the following address.

I sent in the required forms without the tax release form and found out monday that the case was done and should be on it's way to london! So it is not needed! Thanks everyone!! Ray

I should add that there is a lesson for us all to learn here. Things do change so be sure to double check what we get here on VJ with what the USCIS/NVC provides and ask questions on the forums!! There are a lot great people who have or are going through the same things and are happy to help! Ray

Hi, I confirm too, no need for the authorization to release federal tax data form.
I received my I-864 instruction in the mail on May 14th, 2007.
