Hello Everyone star_smile.gif ,

I am not sure if anyone can help me. I have an 11 year old cousin who has a serious eye condition. He has undergone over 10 surgeries so far. He can not see from one eye now. I really want to bring him here to the US to get it checked. I am a US citizen.

I was wondering what type of paperwork I would have to fill out to bring him and his father here. It is doesn’t have to be anything permanent. We just want him here in hopes he can get the medical attention that he needs. He lives in Egypt. I would love it if anyone can offer me any information as to what kind of forms to fill out or how I can start on this, and how I can go about bringing him here. Thank you all so very much. star_smile.gif

Only visa I can think of would be a B2 for them both....

Dont know how you will be able to get him check here without medical insurance... unless you are willing to pay all the costs yourself.... $$$$$$$

There was an interesting article in my local paper about people going to India for major surgery, much better care and less than 1/10th the cost.

Unless you are so wealthy that money does not matter (in which case why are you posting here), there are many better solutions, US would be the last place I would go.

I also think the B2 is the best option to get your cousin and his father here. It will help their visa application if you already have an Eye specialist identified and they already have initial contact with your cousin's eye doctor(s) in Egypt. The US doctor can then send a letter indicating that they are taking on your cousin's case. This letter can become part of their evidence for their visa application.

Note that you will probably need to send in affidavit of support for your cousin and his father.

I'll be real honest. The chances of your cousin getting a visa from Egypt are very slim. To get a tourist visa from Egypt is almost mission impossible. And the second he would mention that he needs/seeks medical care, they would deny automatically. Recently my aunt had eye surgery and the 45 minute procedure cost around $13,000. I think there are better alternatives than care in the US.

You do sometimes see cases where cutting edge surgery is only available in the US.

But that is pretty unusual.

The Consulate would want to know how it was going to be paid for certainly.
