Hi,

I'm a UKC and my fiance will soon be filing the I-129F and I'm starting to do a little research. The guides have answered pretty much all of my queries but I have one that I'm hoping someone will know something about. I served in the British Army from 1986 to 1994 and spent 4 years of that time in Germany. Does anyone know if I will need a Police Certificate from Germany or will my Military Record suffice?

Many thanks.

When my Father applied for an Immigrant visa in 1996 He had served in the Army in Kenya. He didn't need a Police certificate for that period because he wasn't actually living in Kenya, only based there. His home address was back in England. My guess is like him, your military records will suffice for this period. Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Many thanks. And for anyone else who may be wondering the same thing I was pointed towards this from the US Embassy FAQ.

I'm in Her Majesty's Forces/ the Diplomatic Service; I am applying for an immigrant visa, do I require a police certificate?
The Embassy will accept a copy of your military record or discharge papers for any country were you might have served while in the HM Forces. The Embassy will accept a letter from the Foreign and Commonwealth office in lieu of police certificates for any country were you may have served for the British Government.
