Hello please take a look at this guide:

Basically, for AOS you don't need many documents from India, just medical reports I think. However, this is a topic from "Moving here and your New Life in America" that has the info on what to bring from your home country that you might need in daily life in USA:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64931

It has some useful information (not only for AOS, but for living here too)! Basically, it is best just in case, to bring all your visa-related papers, medical & dental records, school/college certificates, tax history, bank statements (close any bank accounts you will not use again), and get ready your resume, making sure all info is updated and correct (names, addresses & contact info of old bosses etc).

Today I will (hopefully!!) go through the topic (above) too, maybe we can come up with a more India-specific guide to post here!

Also, please, others who have moved here from India, give your country-specific info on what came in handy that you brought, and what you didn't bring that you wished you had!! good.gif

IMPORTANT

Bring all the paperwork you did your K1 process, When filing your AOS, I found out that actually the green card number is already given, but the most critical thing you will need is the

I-693

Make sure you get a copy of the medical record and specially the VACCINATION supplement, We got an RFE for the vaccination supplement, They actually act for BOTH medical and Vaccination but since We had the copy, what we did was put a COPY of the I693 medical record, then we did the Vaccination Supplement at a local surgeon. That pretty much did it and everything went well, that's the only RFE we got in the whole process.

Another advice

NOT for AOS, but mostly i would say, tight up all the loosed end from India before moving, as you are the best to know about your documentation and needs.

Take the name, email address of the professional you might use as reference for a Job. My wife is in IT, on one of the jobs she went for, they actually did verify her background in India, and called up a couple of the references she gave there. By chance including a colleague and friend that was working here on an H1. Bring your Certificates.
