Hi again all,

I read on the US Embassy website that I will need to get vaccinations done, so i have phoned up my local GP and booked an appointment. Once i have these vaccinations will i have to get proof that i have them all? also, do they cost anything?

One more thing...My father in law is going to be my joint sponsor because my wife is a student. So will she have to fill in the form and write a letter stating she has not worked in the USA for 2 years?

Thanks alot in advanced.

PS I'm still waiting for the Pack after receiving the NOA 1.

Your GP I believe can provide something showing that you've had them. Whether or not they cost anything depends on whether or not your GP charges you. You'd bring the proof to the medical. If there are any vaccinations missed, the doctor at Knightsbridge will give them to you for a fee on top of the regular 180 GBP medical fee.

Your wife has to fill in the I-1864 as she is the sponsor. I'm not sure what she needs to do to show that she hasn't earned anything in the past two years to explain why she didn't file taxes. However, if she's been living in the UK and made any money at all in the past two years in the UK (even below the normal US filing limit) she still has to report it to the IRS. She won't owe any money though.

How funny. I assumed it was UK since they mention calling their GP, but you know what assuming does!

Our GP charged my husband for his vaccination records since they only had access to computerized records past a certain date. They had to dig for some of it.

He also had to have the MMR since they did not vaccinate boys for rubella when he was a kid in the late 60s-70s. Knightsbridge did not have a separate rubella vaccine so he had the full fat MMR. He also had to have another vaccination; I think it was a dip-tet.

Hello
I am not too sure how the embassy there works, but the Moscow embassy sends you a package with a choice of 4 doctor/hospitals they require you to go to. There is a charge and the results are place in a sealed envelope that you are not to open at all.
Your embassy may be different.
Good luck

Very wise to get everything ready in advance.

When I filed my I-129F (fiance visa) application in 1999 I went to my GP and showed him the vaccination requirements. He gave me an MMR shot and a DTP shot and didn't charge me anything. (I imagine they do charge now though?) He gave me a card with the information about vaccinations filled in and that was accepted by the Embassy.

Now I am reapplying via the I-130 route I have dug out the same card and am hoping it will be enough proof. I did ask at my GP surgery if they had any computer records of my 1999 vaccinations but they had none, so I guess the records don't go back that far - also I have changed surgery and town since I had them done which may have affected records.

I checked the vax requirements and I'm pretty sure MMR and DTP is all you need if you're between 19 and 50.

It is nerve-wracking but just think of it as jumping through hoops - if you jump through them all you will get your visa.
