Full Version: DS-230 question - address where you want green card mailed...

Hey everyone,

I have two quick questions about the DS-230 form

1) on the DS-230 form - you have to list every entrance and exit into the US...my USC wife and I both grew up in Canada near Niagara Falls - this is right on the border to Niagara Falls NY...in turn we've been across hundreds of times to visit family or to vacation (never more than 1-2 weeks at a time), Buffalo Bills games, concerts, etc. Do you think its ok to just put "various crossings for family visits and vacations"? or would we actually have to try to remember and list the last hundred times we've crossed back and forth?

2) On the DS-230 form there is a section that asks for our address in the US. We both live in Canada and neither of us have ever lived in the US so we don't have an address to provide (yet...we plan to move once the visa is approved) - so I wrote that in that section of the form as per Montreals instructions. Than next to that box is another box asking what address in the US we want the green card mailed to...again we don't have a US address - but obviously it needs to be mailed somewhere. Could we put our parents address in Canada? If it needs to be a US address could we use a family member or friends address in the US? How long after the interview approval does the green card take to be delivered?

Any guidance on these two issues would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

hmm.
What did you do about the I-864?

oh,
"list the last hundred times we've crossed back and forth?"
Yes. To the very best of your ability. (you might actually check with other Canadians--it's OK to put 'multiple day trips 1996, 97, 98' etc)

You need to get that US destination nailed down.. remember 'domicile'? You don't have to have a mailing address (you can confirm that at the POE) but you should have a general idea of city/state where you are headed.

The I-864 we filled out but have not submitted yet - we have to bring that to the interview.

I think we'll be ok with stating "multiple trips back and forth" according to other people

The part regarding where the green card is to be mailed to is asking specifically for a mailing address...a general idea or state won't do much good. Thats why I was asking if they'd care if I addressed it to a friend/familys house.
