Okay, here's what to expect next.
1. CSC will forward the approved petition to NVC. CSC tends to "bulk" send approvals and it can take a week or so before NVC receives it.
2. NVC will "process" the approved petition and will assign a case number and forward it to the consulate. You're in Alberta so it will go to Vancouver (lucky!!). It takes only a day or so for NVC to process and send off. About 5-7 days for Vancouver to receive it and enter into the system. Mel will receive a notice from NVC but it usually comes well after the case is already at the consulate. You can follow up with NVC in a week or so to see if they received the petition or not. You will need to either email them or speak to a live person there to get your case number.
3. Vancouver will send you packet 3 (see attached checklist) along with medical info:
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ost&id=3687 The letter that comes with it is usually what is needed at the medical because it has your NVC case number and name on it.
4. Once they get your DS-230 (part 1) and checklist by fax, they will assign you an interview date right away and mail you packet 4 (interview letter) within a few days. I asked for "soonest available appointment" and it was about 1 month from receipt of my checklist to interview.

You do not have to have the medical done prior to sending them the checklist.
And that's it! PM me if you have any more questions.
