The ones in upstate NY are fabulous.
However, I hate the ones in FL. So much that when I ran out of gift certificates, I was happy I no longer had to go there.
Nothing but problems down here. Can't wait til we move back up North and have nice DD again. May be 10 yrs..
My brother worked for them though, and oh boy the franchises like to screw over their employees.

It is the only donut store I have found anywhere in the Atlanta region - and coming from Canada where there was a donut shop on every corner, it has been a real adjustment! Fortunately, there is one about 3 miles from where I live so I stop in pretty regularly for a medium (equivalent of Canadian large) vanilla coffee. I'm not a donut person but Dunkin Donut's coffee is 'almost' a reasonable substitute for Tim Horton's.

3 miles to the nearest Dunkin Donuts! That's ridiculous. I think that's against state law up here. There are two within a half mile of my house now. I grew up in a town with a population of 12,000 and I can count 8 Dunkin Donuts in the town off the top of my head.
BTW, Lisa...it's almost summer. Time for Newport Creamery's Awful Awfuls and Dell's frozen lemonade.

I prefer Krispy kreme donuts to Dunkin Donuts - and i'm pretty sure they have something addictive in them, so I hate the fact that they're impossible to get in Wales. We've got about 6 starbucks in Cardiff but not one donut store - the nearest is probably in London.
I could probably qualify as a donut taster expert. I've had donuts in practically every country i've been to. The homemade ones in Fiji were very good. I got a bit of a surprise with the savoury fillings, like cheese and chilli, in Malaysian donuts, and I'm a big fan of Mexican chorro's style donuts. strawberry jam filled donuts freshly baked from an independent British bakerys are hard to beat though - its a shame so many bakeries have become chains though as they have sub-standard donuts.
But New Orleans is the only place I've been where donuts seemed to be accepted as a form of payment - I gave a doorman two Krispy kreme donuts instead of paying a $5 covercharge to get in a bar.

I love coffee and donuts. Coming from Canada, I'm quite particular about both!! Here in Missouri it seems most people don't even drink coffee??

, let alone eat donuts.
When travelling in the US the last few years, I found that at least Dunkin Donuts had some good stuff. Unfortunately, there are non in St. Louis.
There is a Krispy Kreme a few miles away from me. The place is filthy, and the smell disgusting. I had two "different" donuts, and they just tasted like the same old grease. GROSS!!!
If anyone can help me out with info on what's good, or where I might go, it would be appreciated!!

I go to DD for their coffee - I HATE anything but jelly filled donuts.
Krispy Kreme creates a stir, but a lot of them have been closing in their newer markets. There were lines out to the road when they first opened in Albany, NY, but they closed after a year or two. The brand new one in Clearwater, FL closed too. Dunkin Donuts is forcing them out in most markets - especially the northeast, by infiltrating the market - and Dunkin Donuts recognized the market for beverages, while KK didn't.

hahaha, i am dying over here. i honestly did't know that other people had such an affinity for their nectar of the gods. you know, dunkin donuts has been a topic of conversation ever since carlos and i have known each other. in fact, we have pictures of us in bogota with our small coffees with extra cream and sugar and our chocolate donuts, as well as here in chicago. we even hit the dunkin donuts following our vows. champagne had nothing on the tastey goodness of dunkin donuts coffee. not bitter like starbucks or caribou coffee, and pretty predictable. i like that. ah, yes, those two words constantly get brought up in conversation. it's true that we have an unusually large quantity here in chicago--which we love--but, i will be the first to admit that it is an addition on our part.

Almost reasonable is a good description....'cause as anyone who's ever had Tim Horton's knows....there are few donuts to compare! Joel's favourite is the Maple Cream. Now all we need is for Tim's to make its way South.

Since the Krispy Kreme maintains their donuts are always fresh I assumed they were??? They were still dripping in grease and as I said earlier, two different kinds tasted the same.
And your reference to Canadians is pitiful. Please keep THOSE type of comments to yourself.

I lived up north as a kid so I do remember the Dunkin's ..there were a few here in the Dallas area but they all closed .. I do like the Krispy Kremes though..hot out of the donut maker. Much to my delight,,there was a Dunkin Donuts in Panama near my husband's house. Very trendy place to go there, apparently! I also noticed at the MIA airport that many people buy dozens of the donuts and munchkins there and take them home to their countries. I took a flight to Trinidad a few months back and I kid you not, at least 15 people had boxes of a dozen..taking them back to Port of Spain. I gues Donut Boys (their local donut chain) just doesn't measure up!

Woa, you have a major sweet tooth! I often wonder whether these flavored drinks should be served with a shot of insulin on the side. An ice caramel latte contains 36g of sugar which is around 9 teaspoons. Unless you're getting a no sugar version of course...

I didn't read this thread until I saw it was getting a lot of traffic and got curious so I popped in. lol
I tried a Dunkin Donuts in Canada once, and they weren't very good. So when I saw the only donut shop within miles of me was a DD, I didn't bother going. Now since I've seen the rave reviews I think I'll give it a try.
I like Starbucks coffee but they're miles away. I always check them out when I see one to see if they have any of their famous carrot cake in stock. mmmmmmmmm
There's a Krispy Kreme in Orlando but that's also miles away. Every time I tried KK's coffee it was always cold so I don't like it. Their original donuts are fabulous fresh off the line.... not so great when they're cold, though.

I'm not a big Dunkin Doughnuts fan.... but I grew up with and LOVE Krispy Kreme! I don't buy them in the grocery store on convenience stores, only from the stores where they make them right there on the property and only if the 'hot doughnuts NOW' sign is lit!

They are so good, they melt in your mouth! Thank God there isn't one within a short drive from my house or I would weigh 500 lbs.
Also in Orlando, I just found a tiny little gormet doughnut store called Hotties. They have some unique doughnut flavors and are pretty good! For those of you in the Orlando area, they said there is one in Altamonte Springs and the one I went to on Palm Parkway over in Lake Buena Vista. YUMMY!
