It's been really tough. About a year and a half in, we almost split up. He was so frustrated with the process and accused me of not doing enough and I was angry because he didn't realize what I was dealing with here in the States. We didn't talk for about 3 months. Then he sent me an email asking me to call him because he was worried about me. I called him right away and we both just cried on the phone. A few months later, I took my second trip over to see him. Since then, we've hung in there. The third trip, I got pregnant (NOT PLANNED...A BIG SURPRISE!!!! A BLESSED SURPRISE!!!!) with a beautiful baby boy. My fourth trip was this past November. It was the first time that Hicham had seen his son. We had been planning for several months for me to go over Thanksgiving. At the beginning of October, my father became very ill and was diagnosed with liver cancer. I was on the verge of canceling the trip. My father didn't want me to, because he wanted Hicham to see his son, and Hicham wanted me to be with my father. We knew that my father was not going to survive, so the time was precious. My father passed away a week after we found out he had cancer. It was that fast! I'm not close to my mother at all, but I was a pure Daddy's Girl. The hardship of not having Hicham here to help me through the passing of my father...there isn't a letter that I could give to shove down CIS's throat to make them understand what he ll that was. If it weren't for having to get up every day to take care of our son those couple of weeks after, I don't think I would have survived it. I ended up going to Morocco about 3 weeks after he died. It was a bittersweet trip. Hicham's parent had been over a couple of times and met my dad and Hicham was very close with him, so it was a very sad trip for all of us. But our son did help to bring some joy.

I wish I would have known about this site a long time ago. It sure would have helped with so many things. I was goggling wait times for the 601 and a link for this site came up. I have friends and family that I talk to, but they don't really understand what it's like having to go through this nightmare.

Ooooopsie Correcting.... Hoping and praying the third try will be the charm (just like it was for abdounjen.) If not, insha'allah the case can be transferred very quickly to Amman. I know people are waiting a long time for interviews in Jordan and might not be too thrilled about yet another case getting into the line -- but you guys are being put through such an impossible situation. Like "Here's your visa; come and get it -- oh wait, you not allowed to come get it. Oh well. You can have another chance to be prevented from getting it next month."

Also, me4musa's fiance was again prevented from attending his interview in Jerusalem (3rd try.)

Wow that list is really long!!

A few obsrvations after being out of the loop for some time: I think the thread still has the same title from when Simo and I went through the visa process nearly 3 years ago! One change is that there certainly have been a lot more names added. It appears that there are a lot longer waits for AR, and many more petitions being returned to USCIS (I think it was pretty rare to hear about on VJ in 2004/05). I imagine that the consulates are being much more careful in light of current political situations.

LOL it got so long we had to split the thread into 2 parts -- everyone who has received their visa is on the thread called "Visas in Hand." I'm really glad to see some of the vets still coming around -- I'll be adding you to the list of successes right now !

ahmkri (Egypt, K-3) had the interview on 7/8/07 and got the visa 7/10/07.

Wowwwwww that was incredibly fast -- I think they should change their name to the Flash ! What's their secret ???
