Warning! This may be a very stupid question. Forgive me in advance - I know nothing about 10-year cards.

When a conditional green card is issued, the info on the front looks like that:

Resident since: 1/1/2007
Card expires on: 1/1/2009

Now, when you file to remove conditions and get a new, permanent green card, what is that new card gonna have as your "resident since" date? Is it gonna be the same date as the conditional card (which is what I am thinking, cause it is the actual date you became a permanent resident), or do they put a new date on it, the date when the 10-year card was issued? To illustrate this, does a 10-year card look like that:

Resident since: 1/1/2007
Card expires on: 1/1/2017

Or like that:

Resident since: 1/1/2009
Card exp. on: 1/1/2019

Seconded. The first date is the date of your 1st ever green card approval. Second is ten years after the date of approval of the 10-year card.

So my husband's original dates were 1/15/05 and 1/15/07.
New card has 1/15/05 and 3/20/17.

Thirded. That's what it looks like. The earlier scenario's exact dates are unlikely, because it would assume conditions were removed exactly on the expiration date of the 2 year card. That's not impossible, but very often the ten year card will be issued a few months after the conditional card expired. Theoretically, it could be earlier, if you filed ASAP and they processed everything in less than 90 days.

My dates are:
Resident since: 04/02/2005
Card expires: 03/24/2017

I got my card a week or so before my conditional card expired...

Thank you all! Yes, it makes a lot of sense that the first date is the date when your very first green card was issued.

Jewel,

Point of clarification: It's not the date that the first card was issued, it's the date that LPR status was granted. The date that the first card was issued would be shortly (hopefully) thereafter.
