Not asking for anyone to write anything for me... I'm taking only one class and the author the instructor chose was Naguib Mahfouz. It is sort of like a book discussion group, but with papers. I have a medium size paper to write for my final, which isn't a problem when I have a topic. But I'm all out. I doubt I would have chosen to read most of these on my own. My favorite is the one we are reading now.

Just looking for ideas. Preferably something based on my own opinions since that is easier and more fun to do. I wanted to be creative, but that isn't something I can force. helpsmilie.gif

I was going to write about the Egypt (specifically Cairo where several of the stories took place) of the time when the books we read would have occured. 1960ish? But I'm having some trouble finding enough information. The books we read all have some political aspect to them, I thought it was appropriate. But again, few sources. Strangely enough, all the books seem to focus on ancient history...mummies and pyramids. That's no help. The rest is not specific enough. Anyway, politics make my brain go dead.gif And my head is west of Egypt...in Morocco. wub.gif

We read:
The Thief and the Dogs
Autumn Quill
The Search
Adrift on the Nile
Miramar (currently under discussion)
The Journey of Ibn Fattouma (we start that next week)

I already have one degree; this might be the last class I take and I need to get through it.
