Originally I planned on wearing this beautiful, light blue prom gown a friend of mine has grown out of. However, one of my best friend's informed me that she would like to create my bridal outfit. I was so honored by this that I agreed. I could pose for formal pics at a later date with the blue dress.

I bought my wedding dress, with the help of my daughter (who was my maid of honor) and my step-daughter. The three of us went shopping together and we bought both my dress and my daughter's dress the same day.

My husband and I hate dressing up anything beyond business casual. Hate it. I wore the same dress I wore at my high school graduation 5 years eariler. My husband wore the same suit he bought when he was 16-17 to go to a funeral for a classmate who died in a motorcycle accident. It was a little short in the arms. We so didn't care and honestly, I can't imagine it being any other way. The thought of getting into one of those stereotypical wedding dress monstrosities was/is...

Some confusion occured as Pras had brought a white sari (along with the bridal veil and tiara) from India, and my dad had purchased another white sari in Calgary.
(since they looked similar, we used the one Pras brought for the wedding, and the one my dad purchased for the "afterglow" party at the local church).

Whatever you feel comfortable in, Sarah, is what you should do. This is your big day.
Andre and I got married in our living room by a JOP. I wore a beautiful white sleeveles sheath and black skirt. The pictures we had taken were of the dress and suit we are going to wear in Jamaica when we finally get to renew our vows and have the big hoopla with his family and friends. I love both sets of pictures equally. And, I will have another set of different one's when we do the JA thing.
It's all about you. Do what you want to do.

I bought mine from amazon.com for cheap .. a nice red evening dress. However since we got married in February, I wore somehting a bit warmer - a black skirt and a jacket I had worn in a job interview, and pink cowboy boots (since he had forgotten his to TX) that I got only for that day .. the red dress I wore later at a friend's wedding

I saw my dress online in the beginning of 2005 when we were just talking about one day if we got married and all, so I did a search just to show him the type of dress I'd like to wear, and then on our wedding I had that pic still saved, he posted the dress pic here on VJ and asked if someone knew who was the manufacter and then after a few hundreds of phone calls to every store in both Kansas and Missouri states (I was only finding it too big, like size 10 up) I finally found a size 6 and we bought it, I think around $ 350.00 which surprised us, we were expecting it to be way more expensive.

Found my wedding dress at Ross Dress For Less. The retail price was $90 but it was on sale for $30. It wasn't the traditional wedding dress, but my gorgeous husband loved it on me. That's all that mattered to me.

I bought my dress. Since it was my 2nd marriage i didnt want to go with a white dress, ivory looks awful on me. Gary's fav color is green so i found an empire waist dress in sea foam green, i loved it!! It was very comfy and the price wasnt bad either. A pic of it is in our profile.

I made my dress.. I altered a pattern i found.. it had a tail on the back of a different colour, and then I made a vest and tie to match the tail for my husband to wear. It was nice :-)

I bought my wedding dress with my future mother-in-law. It was interesting experience. We were just driving in town and she told me let's go to look at wedding dresses. We went and I got one that I tried the first one.
That's how it looks like.

I was originally going to have my dress made. It was going to be a dress reflecting my love of history and historical reinactment (trust me, it was going to be awesome). My friend who is an expert seamstress told me to go try on various dresses to see what would flatter me, and while I was in the shop we found a dress that I just fell in love with. It cost a pretty penny, but when we went to price fabrics that we would have needed to make the dress I was envisioning it would have cost the same if not more. It was one of the few things at our wedding we paid full price for, and might I just say that I looked fabulous.

KarenCee,
I got my dress at Ross too!! I spent ALL DAY shopping and it was the last dress at the last store that day. My friends and I didn't even think we'd find a dress there - but we sure did and I love it. It's not traditional (but neither is our wedding). It's ivory and lace and fits my body very well

Mine wasn't traditional...I'm not a traditional kind of person. Besides, we married outside and it was hot. I love my dress...it was marked down to $30 from $90. Gotta love Ross!

Oops! Sorry the pic is so big.

I went to several different places to look at dresses. The problem was that all of the dresses I really liked were strapless, and I did not want a strapless dress. I finally found my dress at a bridal warehouse, and had a chiffon shrug (which is kind of like a little jacket) made by a seamstress to go over it. It looks like it was made with the dress.
