As you may have seen in a previous post of mine, I am just about to start the K-3 process for my wife (I am the citizen) who is now in Colombia. When my wife was in the U.S. for 4 months, she came with a work visa for artists (P-3 I think). Here, she got her SSN that says "Not valid for work without EAD" or something to that effect. However, she never actually got the EAD as she did not need to work (she was supposed to work in a music festival that got canceled).
In the G-325A they ask for a SSN. I'm assuming I should definitely put the SSN she was given here, but is there any problem if I do this? The SSN was issued based on a different visa, but I'm guessing that does not matter. Once she gets here to the U.S., we will adjust her status. But, apparently the process will be slightly different since she already has a SSN and does not have to wait for one.
I would greatly appreciate any insight. Thanks in advanced.

SSNs are not issued based on visas or visa types. SSNs are issued to people who are authorized to work in the USA - at the time that they apply for the SSN -so that tax money can be collected and credited to the right person.

Exactly. She has a valid SSN but no authorization to work or to be in the USA at this time. She will not need a new number.
You can potentially open a joint bank account and can file taxes jointly if you wish.
