I've got my citizenship months ago and I got my passport done.
My question is, do I have to update my status to the Social Security office?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it affects your future benefits should you move outside the US, and potentially a couple of others (can't find the list right now).

It was the first thing I did when I got my citizenship. That way if something happend to my Naturalization document while getting my passport, I had this to fall back on as proof of my citizenship. Not sure about all the benefits, but inheritance is in there for something and applying to gov't type jobs, they will check your SSN to verfiy you are a citizen etc.

Plus after going through years of INS and such, I spent all this time and money to become a citizen so I want to make sure I'm classified as one every place I can...
