Wow, i was reading this thread before but i couldn't relate coz whenever i read i feel outcasted coz the thread started long ago. I think this is a better idea to combine the thread here. Thanks for joining us here.

This thread used to be our own little community when we were not part of the Regional Discussion yet. Some old time members like Roy and Yazi, Sheriff, DARUMA07 and myself were the only ones left in keeping this thread alive. Every now and then, our dearest Ate Cora aka Pinay Wife will drop by and see if we're behaving , same thing with Skeeter111 who, once in a while, will join the riots. It would be nice to see this thread goes on and on and make it as lively as it used to be.

I'll keep it alive, but I better be a good boy! Too many Filipinas that would gang up on me if I were bad!

Ciela finally got the damn thing today, sooooo happy it's here, even if I'm still a little bitter about the whole process...still now is not the time for that - more of this....



We did have a little drama, the Delbros guy asked for a drink of water and offered to help her open envelopes, she said yes but he started opening whilst she was getting the water. So when he'd gone there was a minor panic as she hadn't seen the number of envelopes he'd opened. Anyway I read her the info from the Manila sticky and we got to the fact that it's just the brown envelope (it's actually yellow apparently) which remains sealed which it was!

Anyway she's calling Northwest tomorrow to try for the 18th but looks like the northwest Seattle leg of flight is full so will have to come through LA, still can't believe we're going to be together in a weeks time!!!!

Hi old friends and newer members. I too am glad to see this topic staying alive. I don't get much time to log on anymore, but this one I'm still subscribed too so I can at least see what's going on with people. Fely and I, we're up in Montana right now, visiting with her sister and brother-in-law. Tomorrow is a Filipino festival in Helena (anybody nearby? come and join, it's on National Avenue in Helena), put on by Fely's sister and friends. They've got the Philippine Consulate of San Francisco coming by to help several filipinos get their dual citizenship. Actuallthey're here at the house right now along with many Filipinos enjoying a Philippine meal.

This is Fely's first trip out of California, and she's finally getting to see more of the US. Besides Nevada and Idaho (and Montana) we'll be going through Washington and Oregon on Monday/Tuesday on the way home. As of the 16th, Fely will have been here 1 year. Oh yeah, and our baby is due next month.

Congrats on the baby! YAY!

I've definitely been trying to keep up now, Mae It's like getting in touch with old family. Which is what I'll be doing for real on the end of the month. We'll be driving (rather, I will be driving, and dear hubby Sean will be on the passenger seat) to Chicago for a wedding. I think it's where about half of my relatives in the US are, and it'll be my first time meeting some of them (the cousins, mostly).

Great hearing about all the good news! Approvals, babies.. hee! So excited for you all. Congrats Gary and Fely! We're not planning on having babies soon, so I have to live vicariously through other members.

Yay! I'm happy that this thread is back to what it used to be . I was just waiting for it to die a natural death but Roy, Mae, Daruma, the Sheriff and a few others just won't give up. Sheriff, if Pink, Shape and chris-lei are unable to integrate/put together their lists, I will do it after I get back from a trip. We're celebrating my parents-in-law's 50th wedding anniversary in Lake Chelan, WA. We leave early morning tomorrow so I'm busy doing last minute cleaning up and packing and I'm not able to do the list now. Oh by the way, Doug and I celebrated our 1st anniversary on July 7th. We survived one year! 49 more years to go......

To Pink, Shape, chris-lei, welcome to Manila thread. Please encourage your group to post their questions here. You ladies did a great job in keeping your respective lists updated.

Sheriff, I tried to send you PM a week ago but I guess I pressed the wrong keys and you may not have received my message. I was going to ask you if you can please have a separate list in the Guide for all the fees that need to be paid (USCIS, US Embassy visa fee/biometrics, Medical (adult/child), Delbros, NBI, etc. and for AOS ~ I-485 application fee, transfer to I-693A, etc.) so we can see all the expected expenses at a glance. That's all the fees I can think of right now. If I missed anything, I'm sure you will come to my rescue.

Can't say I was waiting for the thread to die.. I was being optimistic that people were just busy. But not having seen familiar faces (or names), I didn't want to "intrude" on the "new group". I'm still shy and insecure that way. But! I'm really happy to see activity on the thread now. The length of the list(s) surprises me though... it seems to be a whole lot shorter than it used to be.

I have been terribly, TERRIBLY homesick. When Sean is around, and we do things together and stuff, all's good. But when he's off to work, or I find myself alone, or.. well.. let's just say that this happens a lot.. I get very depressed. There aren't a lot of Filipinos in these parts, it seems. There was this one girl I met at friendster who's like a few blocks away, but she blocked me from her list. i guess she's not interested because she apparently has family somewhere nearby. There are no Filipino stores, and the nearest Asian one is half an hour away, and the only Filipino stuff I found were Mang Tomas, Mama Sita packets, and Ligo sardines. I got several cans of the sardines. So.. yeah. Homesick. And this, despite having been in Manila for like two months during Christmas Season. Would you people suggest therapy? My mom suggested I go if insurance covers it.. I'm still unsure.

Sorry for the rant! I just don't have a whole lot of people to talk to about this, and the VJ family has always been great. And you're probably the people who know what I'm going through the best.

I also think that the list of expenses/fees is a good idea. My removing of conditions is still a year away, but it's better to be over-prepared than under-prepared. No?

I'm sure glad to know how everyone's doing. Iya, all you need is one filipina and you'll be surprise how you're community will grow. I live in a smalltown and I never thought that there's be a big-filipino community around me. I was so surprised. It just started with one filipina I met in the store then we got introduced to this other filipinas then to another then to another. Look we just had our first fil-am cook-out last spring in our place and you wouldn't believe that some 20 pinays married to white dudes showed up plus some filipino nurses, teachers, and the hotel workers in the golf-courses around here amazing. When we had the pacquiao fight more filipinos came... Incredible just by word of mouth it multiplies but still I treasure and take care of my 4 filipina circle that I have.

Iya, sorry to hear about your homesickness. It will go away in time but you do need to meet other Filipinas. Because we are a religious bunch, the best way to meet Pinays is by attending church (Catholic, Protestant, Christian). Try attending mass at different times to see which one the Filipinos attend. Here at our place, almost all Pinays attend the 11 am mass. I met all of my friends through the Catholic church. My best friend right now is a half-Pinoy, half Pinay (bading/gay) hehehe.
