im just wondering, why you requested for a new card? i hope mine arrives soon so i can file for AOS asap biggrin.gif

Because all my previous SS cards have indication that I cannot work until I got DHS authorization and that refers to having either an EAD or the GC itself. And oh, I finally got the latest SS card in the mail yesterday (after more than 2 weeks).

You don't need SS number to file AOS. Like what john_and_marlene said, just put "NONE". It's not going to affect the application at all.

Hi peeps,

I already got my EAD card in the mail today but they put wrong issued dates and expiration dates on it (i.e., Jan. 19, 2007 and Jan. 18, 2008, respectively)...my card has already expired before i was approved, hehehe...anyways, i will call uscis tomorrow to know the remedy...it is somehow frustrating that we need to wait again for the re-issued card.

one more thing...i got these emails from CRIS...

1. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On January 30, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

2. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On January 30, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

With these emails, does this mean that i am now approved with no interview??? what does ADIT in email #2 mean?

Thanks.

QUOTE(ronmay @ Jan 30 2008, 08:11 PM) *
and oh yea i dont know what ADIT is but we have the exact email from CRIS after i got approved so no worries

ADIT ( Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System ) is an old term which is now referred to as Biometrics. guess USCIS hasn't updated it's email notifications.

I thought that the Green Card took the place of the EAD card...after you receive it. Otherwise you would have to reapply for employment authorization before the green card expires.

I thought once you got the greencard you don't have to worry about EAD (even AP) because the GC alone can take you anywhere? unsure.gif

correct good.gif once you have your green card, no need for the EAD card.
ryza
wow! thanks for the info smile.gif i didnt know that biggrin.gif i thought i need to have the SS card first before filing. thanks again smile.gif

You don't have to wait for the SS Card to file AOS. If you don't have an SSN yet, put NONE in the box.

Anyone know what forms/documents are needed for the interview for a K-2 Follow-to-join at USEM?

My mother-in-law is there in the Phils and will accompany my step-daughter, but she is confused and has difficulty in figuring it all out even with the Packet 4. I thnk its confusing too as Packet 4 is designed for the K-1 and not really specific to the K-2 alone. Here's the forms/docs I am pretty sure about:

DS-156
DS-157 (with bank validation of visa fee payment)
I-134 (with associated income tax, W-2s, etc.)

Copy of our Marriage Certificate
Copy of our Divorce/Annullment papers from previous marriage
Copy of the birth cert. of me, my wife, and my step-daughter
2X2 photos
Passport

Does she need proof of meeting? Proof of support like receipts of remittance?

Any help from someone that has done this before would be much appreciated.

we didn't do follow to join, but looks good to me. NBI and other country poice certificate not needed if under 16.
I do not think you should need any evidence of prior meeting or genuine engagement. copy of your marriage certificate should be able to take of that requirement. maybe if you create a separate thread, someone who has done follow to join, and doesn't browse the Interview Thread, will be more likely to see it.

best of luck with everything good.gif

My husband (then fiance) almost used the visa assistance service of Cherry Blossoms (since that's where we met). I told him NO, I'll take care of everything. He was surprised and could not believe it. So I told him that in my heart, I was so sure that we will end up together so I have decided to look for informative websites where I could get infos about visa matters even when he hasn't proposed to me yet. blush.gif I was very presumptiuous at that time because I know that that day we met, we're destined to be together. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif I used to hang around at Asawa.org but somehow, that website got closed down. And then I found this website. good.gif

Without VJ and all the helps from my Manila Thread Family, we will never be this successful in our journey.

Heeelllooooo???? Seems this thread has gone silent here. yes.gif

Well Mir's daughter, Krrystal, is at the Embassy for her interview this morning. Her appointment was for 7:00AM. We are both sitting here nervous and anxious to hear some news from Krrystal's Lola about the results. With Mirasol already being here, I would think the only problems might be technicalities regarding documents, which can be fixed with time. It's just so nerve wrecking...especially after all the hassles at the medical last week. The medical came out okay in the end, but so many delays.

Hope everyone is doing well in your place. Take care and God bless you and your families.

Thank you for the well wishes and your reply. In answer to your question...at least Mir will go home to get Krrystal. Plane fares are really high right now for July. We plan to go pick her up then in time for school starting here in August. Its about $1400+ per ticket each for Mir and I to go round trip to Davao and back and another $800-1000 for Krrystal's one-way ticket here. It adds up quickly. If fares come down a little then we might both go, but if they stay where they are at now, then probably just Mir will go. Krrystal will only be 8 years old then, so we would not even consider her flying an international trip alone....even if it was possible, which I am not even sure they would allow it that young.

I agree too....lots of changing faces here. I think the trend has been to start a thread by month for those that are having filings and interviews and such. I don't post here as much as I did before too....mostly because of time. I have been hanging out in VJ lately because of questions I have had about the K-2 process. Luckily, the people here have been so helpful as always.

Scott

It's now 7:36am Manila time. hopefully you'll be receiving some good news soon. good.gif

We are talking to Mir's mother on the phone now and everything seems okay. The interview is complete. According to Mir's mother....the Consul told her the "petition" is approved. I said, "Petition?" She said, "Yes...the petition is approved." Mir told her the petition was approved long ago, but we hope the Visa is now approved." She replied again, "Yes...the petition is approved." laughing.gif

She was given a slip and told to go pay Delbros, so I guess that's a good sign. good.gif kicking.gif good.gif kicking.gif good.gif She did not ask if the document verification was complete, so we are not sure if the visa will come right away or be delayed like others have been for the document verification. We're just happy to know she is approved and will get her visa.

Thanks again for the well wishes.

David and I are going back to the Philippines this June. I have been monitoring the airfare and so far, it's stuck on $1500+ per person, round trip. It's way too expensive but we'll still go and make that trip. We're hoping though that by the time we finally want to book the flight, it will be a little cheaper. Who knows... who knows...

Congrats on the successful interview. Hopefully the visa will be released soon. And hopefully, you and Mir will be able to go and get Krystal together... that would be nice.

I remember when this thread is the exclusive thread for us... we even got our own list taken cared by PW. I wonder where she is now? Since I don't work, I spend most of my time hanging here, reading and giving out pieces of advice.

Oh well... Have a good start of the week everyone!

Yes...I think with fuel prices so high now, its going to be hard to find a good fare. I look every day on many travel websites looking for something reasonable, but its still high. If I find something good, I will let you know and you can do the same. Just send us a message or post it here. What city are you flying from to Manila? We will go from San Francisco, CA.

Thanks for the congrats! It's really a good feeling to be done with that process....AGAIN!!! laughing.gif I hope to go pick-up Krrystal too, but its really airfare dependent.

Ok...bye for now.

We'll be flying from Springfield, MO. Like you, I have been monitoring the airfare too and haven't seen cheaper deals. If I will book a flight now for next month (April) the ticket is so much cheaper - $1,100++ tax and fees included - but the thing is, we planned on going by June. Maybe we will book a flight on May and see what we got. It can be so much higher or cheaper, either way, we will have no choice but take the trip.

Let me know if you'll find a bargain, ok? Thank you in advance!

Mae, Mira and I are visiting the Philippines in April. Yes, fares are more expensive than last year at the moment. I did a lot of searching to find the cheapest possible and got an $875 round trip including taxes etc from LA to Manila on Cathay Pacific. Eva Air are running specials from Seattle through May if you can still find seats, 650 plus tax is the lowest. www.bt-store.com also can find good deals on their search engine. Phillippine airlines usually has a low fare for one way immigrants from Manila. Hope this helps, good luck.
