I have posted this on another thread but should have posted it here.

I am so happy to share with all of you the good news. After months of job hunting I finally got my dream job. I went to 5 interviews starting last Jan.2 mostly in the city over an hr away drive and just one company close to home (we live in the country so 20 mins drive is close). Yesterday I got the call from this company who told me that they're offering me the job and to check my email for the formal job offer. The employment package was soooooo good. This morning I went to my orientation and did the drug testing. I just couldn't contain my happiness at the moment.

I've been whining about how hard it is for a new immigrant like me to find work and have experienced prejudice one time or another. One employer even told me I should be working at Wal-mart for me to gain any experience. I listened to them and tried but was overqualified. The experienced didn't deter me to look for job that is really my line and my passion. It paid off. I'll be working as an Accountant in a company where I was treated professionally and fairly during the hiring provess.

So to all of you fellow "pinays" out there trying to find the job that you've been dreaming of, be patient. In God's time it will be given to you. I was especially happy that my husband patiently supported me all the way. Drove me to my interviews in the city and bought me gps for christmas presents. Now I realized that this work meant alot to me. In a way, it makes feel that as a new immigrant this work is my final step to my journey.

yeah, i guess there's always going to be prejudice and discrimination towards immigrants especially asians...I hope i do well as u did when i come over to my fiance's.

Honestly....I don't really know either what forms will be required. I just sent the letter to ask for the appointment and will need to complete forms as well.

Will you go home for your child's interview and medical? if not, do you know what is required from the Embassy at the interview in order to allow a "guardian" to attend on your behalf? I know for a passport, my wife has to send a special power of attorney authenticated by the Philippine Consulate here in the states, so we just included the interview and medical on that too, but not really sure of the requirements.

Any help will be appreciated.

the DS Forms would be same, except DS-156k is not required.
I asked the about guardian of child attending the interview:

USER Asked: roy: My fiancée and I are considering having her daughter follow to join with a k-2 visa. Would she have to be present at the daughter’s interview or could it be a guardian? If they both apply at same time while my fiancée still in Philippines, can the K-2 visa for the daughter be extended beyond six months?

CONSUL: The K1 or K2 visa cannot be extended beyond 6 months from date of issuance. If the K2 will follow to join some other time, he/she should be issued for a K2 visa within one year of K1’s date of issuance. If the one-year window had lapsed a new petition should be filed for the child of the K1. If the daughter will apply as following to join, the mother is not required to be present during the interview; the guardian with proper identification could assist the minor child.

hi! happy new year to all VJ'ers i just want to know if i can apply for my driver's license now while waiting for my SSN or should i wait for my SSN first before going to DMV. thanks and good luck to all of you

In most (if not all) states you will need your SSN to apply for a drivers license or state issued ID card.

To be safe, check with your DMV to find out the exact requirements for your state.

DMV actually asked for my SSN when I applied for Non-Driving License and Learner's Permit... It also seems like DHS, SSA and DMV are all connected to one another when it comes to verifying your identity or status here in the US. SSA had to verify DHS if the greencard I showed them is genuine/valid, same with DMV when I applied for the learner's permit, they had to check my status/identity with DHS and SSA.

You are absolutely correct! The USCIS, SSA, and DMV are all under the preview of the DHS...

a lot of us have March Interviews scheduled if someone wants to update the list

is it possible to apply for my EAD locally? (if i have my SSN already) or i have to send it together with the AOS first?

It must be filed with AOS. They no longer issue them at the local offices.

Well just to update, the USEM worked fairly quickly this time regarding my step-daughter's K-2 "follow-to-join" interview. I sent the request for the interview in the first week of January and we already have an interview date. She will have her medical Feb. 25 and interview on Mar. 3rd. We were actually hoping to time the interview in April or May so that she can wait to fly here just before school starts, but we'll work with it. She can still fly here the end of August and be okay for both visa and school think.

hi! should we file for AR-11 or other form/s? or call USCIS? for the change of address? coz me n my fiancee (which is my wife now) has moved here in guam. we filed our K1 when she is still in kansas, after getting approved we came here directly from PI. i didnt go to KS anymore and just got married here and we'll file for our AOS here. thanks

If you haven't filed your AOS as of yet, you don't have to file for AR-11 because the address that will reflect on your application to USCIS is your current address. But if you have filed your AOS before you moved, then AR-11 is needed. I hope I'm correct on this one.

I believe you don't have to inform USCIS about the move since you don't have pending application in any offices. Like I said, AR-11 is needed only if the applicant moved while a case is pending.

(Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here)

It's weird that it's just now when you got the email but look at the letter itself, it was dated July 23, 2007.

yea but thats the point it must have been a mistake. i got my gc on the mail 7/23 but they're saying they just approved my application that day. oh well i guess i wont worry about it til my removal which is next yr.

I already got my EAD card in the mail today but they put wrong issued dates and expiration dates on it (i.e., Jan. 19, 2007 and Jan. 18, 2008, respectively)...my card has already expired before i was approved, hehehe...anyways, i will call uscis tomorrow to know the remedy...it is somehow frustrating that we need to wait again for the re-issued card.

one more thing...i got these emails from CRIS...

With these emails, does this mean that i am now approved with no interview??? what does ADIT in email #2 mean?

im guessing you're approved and gc will soon be on the mail... if the gc (all info in the card) is correct then the ead wont matter anymore lol... congrats!

and oh yea i dont know what ADIT is but we have the exact email from CRIS after i got approved so no worries

Congrats jeng! You're correct, you got approved without interview! Don't worry about the ADIT, it won't matter anymore. You likely will receive your greencard 1-2 weeks from now. You don't have to fret about the EA card because you can work legally with your GC.

I believe SSA is having some difficulties with card production because I have been waiting for more than 2 weeks too and still nothing. The first time I went there last Dec. for a new card, it didn't come in the mail after waiting for it for almost a month. So I went back again and reported it. They requested a new card for me and told me that it will arrive in the mail within two weeks but nothing again. So I checked with them again and they told me that Georgia office who's supposed to make the cards is probably having some tech problems. And that I will have to wait for one more week and come back to their office.

I suggest you go back to your SSA office and tell them that you didn't get the card in the mail and that it's been 2 weeks.

Nov had her Green Card about a week after we got those notices from USCIS

Thanks for the greetings...my spirit is somehow uplifted since after I talked with the USCIS, he advised me to file the application form again and just indicate the mistake that the USCIS made to waive the fee. who knows how long this will take again...grrr...ive been waiting for the EAD so atleast i can apply for my learner's permit. Need to practice more driving before atleast i get a job. oh well, i hope i would get the gc by next week.

I thought that the Green Card took the place of the EAD card...after you receive it. Otherwise you would have to reapply for employment authorization before the green card expires.

I thought once you got the greencard you don't have to worry about EAD (even AP) because the GC alone can take you anywhere?

well after i got my GC i worked right away and fill up the w2 form... so GC can do you most of the stuff except for voting i guess... lol

im just wondering, why you requested for a new card? i hope mine arrives soon so i can file for AOS asap

You don't have to wait for the SS Card to file AOS. If you don't have an SSN yet, put NONE in the box.
