I finally received my EAD Card on the mail yesterday!

Congratulations! Happy job hunting hope you get a job that you'd like a lot just like I did. I'm always excited going to work everyday even though it's been quite a while now since i started. Good luck!

And so my Green Card (or should I say white card since it's white in color? ) arrived yesterday. My husband said I shouldn't be carrying it with me because I might lose it. But according to the instructions, it should always be with me and ready for me to show my residency. Which is which?

P.S. They really used the picture taken during the Biometrics for the GC, instead of the 2x2 we submitted in the paperwork. David said I look like a kid on my GC. "I want my mommy, waaaaaaaaaaa, I want my mommy!" Huh? Who's the kid? Me?

It's been about a year now since the group from Dec 2006 had their interviews. hope everyone's doing fine. Yazi started a part time job this weekend at a senior living facility. she's happy to finally have a job. it's been frustrating for her not working. in the next couple of weeks she has an interview for a govt. job.
hope life is treating everyone well.

I read one of Mae's posts in April that her husband died a few days after her biometrics. It's so sad. I don't know what became of her AOS.

I heard of a case similar to this on Citizen Pinoy (thank you TFC!) and the lady was able to pursue the petition...

I think a widow can self-petition by using a form called I-360. Not sure though of the degree of difficulty getting approved based on that petition. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-360.pdf

I also agree......my husband and I spend as much time together and on his day off we are always together.

My husband and I also pray everyday not only for us but for those Fil_Am couples like us to love and care each other everyday and always.

Short stories: Before my husband and I met...he has a neighbor who was married to a Filipina. He constantly beat her up and after 25 years she finally divorced him.

Another Filipina who used to work in the company where he now works, also was a battered wife and now they are divorced but somehow she ended up somewhat like a part-time prostitute and she is in her early fifties now. Last week she went to the company to ask for a reference for a new job. My husband told her that he married a Filipina and she said to him....take good care of her and don't destroy her; do not be like my ex-husband.

Life is so short and full of mysteries and surprises, you never know what will happen next. Be glad you have each other and cherish every moment while you can.

Say how much you love each other as often as you can, who knows it might be the last time you ever say it ...let it be your last words.

guess what! USCIS returned our overpayment of $340!! isn't that great?! i really thought we wasted an overpayment..they returned the cheque with a letter stating that we had an overpayment.. yey!

Im touched with that quote and so since we've lost touch for quite awhile , here we are again to wish everyone to have a wonderful holidays!

Just saw this information posted on another thread and thought I would pass it along here. This text is now on the USEM website as part of the requirements:

"Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified.

In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is P650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, please click HERE. If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application.

I don't know a lot about this as its all new information about requirements of the embassy. I read that you can call the embassy for more information on the fee. I heard of one case already where it caused a delay in the visa issuance and others are saying it will delay your visa if it is not paid in a timely manner.

That's all I know at this point.

have a question..my biometrics appointment will be this saturday at 12pm..(felt wierd that they scheduled me on a saturday at 12noon)...what is usually being done in the biometrics? does it take long? what shall i need or how shall i prepare for it?

"APPLICATION FEES FOR U.S. NONIMMIGRANT VISAS TO INCREASE ON 01 JANUARY 2008

Effective 01 January 2008, the application fee for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the nonimmigrant visa application process.

Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before 01 January 2008 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before 31 January 2008. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after 31 January 2008 must pay the difference -- $31 -- before they will be interviewed. "

The fee increase has already been addressed but I wanted to address the above in red.

First holiday in the US was very cold. It was a snowy New Year here.....snowing all day long....17 C below zero...never got that low in PI....

I ended up curled in bed the following day.....snow turning to ice.....grrrrrrrr....

Another Filipina arrived here in our place a day after Jan. 1............just in time for the snow to turn into ice....she said she don't want to come out yet.....so cold for her...and for me too...

Hope everyone is having fun with the snow too!

Well I know I said we were done with immigration for 18 months, but I guess I lied. I meant to say Mirasol is done, but we just started the process to bring her daughter here on the K-2 Follow-to-join. So here we go again for another waiting period courtesy of the USEM. At least this one SHOULD be a little easier time. We can't say we didn't know it was coming. hehehe

For those that have K-2's that are going to follow-to-join, the process was that I called the USEM and inquired as to how to request an interview for my step-daughter. They advised me to type a written letter notifying them that we are ready to proceed with the her K-2 and requesting an interview and medical appointment. It's not perfect, but it worked for me and was accepted by the USEM. Here is what I sent as a sample:
