I've decided that I should be there at Novelyn's interview and I was wondering... unsure.gif

If approved, will they allow you to pick up the visa that afternoon or the next day?

I only ask because I don't have a lot of vacation time left and it would be so nice if she could fly back with me! wub.gif

When the USC requests to pick up the visa, it is usually granted. But may not be the next day. Could be a couple of days, up to 3 days sometimes.

Hiya all,

Fely and I finally made it to our home after visiting with my mom for a few days. She's been in California for a week now, and is adjusting nicely. She is still not speaking much, but maybe that is a blessing wink.gif . Yesterday her sister in Montana called and they spoke for over an hour. She also texts daily back home. We've been busy the past 3 days cleaning house, and she kicked the cats outside. Today we went to OSH and bought some plants to start a garden. Overall Fely seems happy here. The temperature is hot, so there's not much problem with the fact that she brought only shorts and t-shirts. I bought her a used iMac ($10) so she can use it to text and email her family, and I can have mine back.

Congrats on the wedding Davie-Mae. rose.gif

Here is a picture of our first meal together in our house. We made chicken adobo.

Thanks so much for the reply!

I've read a couple posts where people got them the same day or the next day...but 3 days would be just fine! kicking.gif

I just want to spend a few days with her here in the US before I have to go back to work sad.gif

just be sure it's postmarked BEFORE July 30th. any application postmarked on or after July 30th will be subject to the new fees.

good catch on the BEFORE....I missed that and was thinking the old fee was good through the 30th. Thanks for catching and posting that for everyone.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing when I first read about the fee increases. earlier this month a friend was preparing an application. when I double checked info about the fee increases, I then noticed it was effective on the 30th.

Hello everyone,

Is it true that if you will be using a private courier (like UPS,FedEx) to send the AOS package, it will be mailed to a different address than sending it thru the United States Postal Services?

Ours was sent thru the postal office so am not really sure if the address differs using a private courier....my friend will mail her AOS tomorrow using either UPS or FedEx and she asked me about this since another friend too said address differs...

Hope you can help us with this....

Thanks,

Marie

Hello everyone! Well, the wedding went successfully and wonderfully (ham and turkey buffet with cherry cheesecake dessert). kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Now here's my question and I know this will sound stupid. wacko.gif I got all our paperwork ready for the AOS and the only documents missing are certified copy of our marriage certificate from the court house (of which, we will be working on today), vaccination supplement - I-693A (of which, we'll be doing on Wed) and David's 2006 ITR (since I submitted the original during my interview, we will ask for a copy from his tax lady). My question is, if we get to mail the AOS packet on the 25th of July (I am being optimistic and I'm working so hard for that to happen) and get there in Chicago 1 or 2 days after, are we really able to file before the fee increase on July 30th? I know I'm being stupid here, but I just want to make sure that our packet will not be returned and we'll be asked to issue another check amounting to $1100 once it gets there or to somebody's desk. I will appreciate any helpful advice and please bear with me.

Congratulations!!!! kicking.gif Get used on your a new lastname. smile.gif After our wedding the DJ call me with my husbands last name and it sounds odd at first. haha

Sounds like you're ready and well planned. If you want to save and if you can make it have your package postmarked before july 28, 2007.

Hi there,

I am not giving you false hope, but my husband and I asked to pick up my visa the next day but they won't grant it unless it's emergency the consul said. My visa was release after 15 days of waiting. Delbros on my province sucks. innocent.gif

You being there on your fiancee's interview will give her confidence. smile.gif Goodluck on her interview!

Thanks for the reply! It's terrible that Delbros took so long to deliver the visa to you. If we have to have it delivered it would only have to go to Laguna which should not take nearly as long (I Hope wacko.gif ).

I have read other posts where the USC has requested to pick up the visa and it was granted, so it seems that it may just be based on which Consul does the interview, how they feel that day, what the weather is like, or if they had a fight with their spouse morning or the night before smile.gif)

I'm from Binan, Laguna and my visa took 7 days after the interview (plus holiday and weekend). You can still both try asking the consul if it's ok to pick up the visa. If you will not be granted, it's not going to be so bad being delivere by Delbros.

Good luck on your interview!

Well, it looks like our AOS packet is ready to go tomorrow, the 26th of July. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh! Today, we traveled down to Licking, MO to see one of the two civil surgeons in the area (105 miles from our home) and got the rest of the paperwork done. They insisted that I take the full medical since I could not provide them all the records of the medical I had at St. Lukes. I had to explain to the attending nurse who will do the paperwork and to the civil surgeon himself that I got everything done and that all I needed is the I-693A. It was a challenge in convincing them because they laid it all out that I redo everything, otherwise, no paperwork from them. I had to show them this instruction (and good thing I was carrying it around) "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report" for them to believe me. They even had to check it to USCIS' website for confirmation. HA! wink.gif Finally, the nurse did the paperwork and gave me a sealed envelope for $50 unsure.gif . Oh well, what matters most now is I'm done assembling the AOS packet and ready to go tomorrow, which means no filing fee increase for us! Thank God, everything went smoothly for us and fell right into places. I was beginning to lose hope that we will be able to beat the target date of mailing it.

I got another question, though. Do I have to include this sealed envelope in our AOS packet or will have to provide it on AOS interview? Aside from that envelope, the nurse gave me copies of what's inside it. Can somebody lighten me up on this before I mail it away???

P.S.

I had TB skin test last Monday and they read it today. Somehow, the red swollen mark was 12mm and supposedly, I am positive. blink.gif They explained it to me that since I came from the Philippines and mots of us were given some kind of vaccine when we're a child, I got the anti-bodies for tuberculosis and such, so there's really nothing to worry about it. Whew! wink.gif But they had to take a good look at my chest X-ray (the one from St. Lukes) just to make sure that I have no problem, whatsoever and then the civil surgeon made an extra note about the result of the TB skin test. So there! good.gif

I think its terrible how some doctor's are either misinformed or just flat out try and take advantage of the new immigrant. I have followed the AOS forum lately as that is where we are now in the process. It seems quite common that Docs try and force a full medical exam on the K1's even though its clearly not needed by the guidelines. I'm sure many unknowing immigrants and their spouses consent because they trust a doctor knows best. I'm sure that is why they do it.....because they can get away with it. I'm glad you were able to stick to your guns and that they finally gave in.

Yes...send that sealed envelope in with the AOS packet as proof that your shots were updated. Keep your copies, but mail the sealed envelope with your packet. Mine wasn't labeled with the contents by the Doc, so I just wrote on the outside of the front of the envelope, "I-693A". Good luck!

Just for documentation of the source of information on the last post, the intructions for the form I-485 read:

"Fiancé(e)s.

If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. Hi VJ Philippines,

Please allow me to rave, I got my greencard today so I'm free from the immigration for another two years. Thank you so much for all the help. Oh and I passed my driver's license exam the other day finally my journey has only begun. I never thought that driving would be such a liberating experience and empowering for someone who only traveled by jeepneys, fx, and MRT back home. Bear with me I'm just happy for ol the good blessings I got this week!

Anyway, time to look for work, I'm an Accountant forever!

Thank you everyone, especially Sheriff Uling and PW. This site has helped me alot. Mabuhay ang Manila VJ Thread!

Kathlene's interview is August 9th at 6:30am. We have a friend in Manila who has a boarding house and will take Kathlene to the Embassy. I have two quick questions. (sorry if the answer is already somewhere, the search is not working)

1. Does Kathlene need to get there about an hour before her scheduled time, or earlier?

2. She lives outside of Cagayan de Oro City on Mindanao, how much should she bring to make sure she has enough for Delbros payment?

Thanks for everyone's help! We both are so excited as the interview draws near and are hoping to be back together by September!

We mailed our AOS packet this morning and all along, I thought the check should be made for US Citizenship and Immigration Services since that's what we did before for our I-129F. This evening, I double checked everything and found out that it should be made for Department of Homeland and Security. Did I screw it up? Will they return the entire packet and make me pay $1010 in mailing it back or will they accept the check that we made even though its for USCIS? I was so in a rush to make sure that we got to file before the fee increase takes effective but with this quandary, I'm now really worried.

What do you think guys... Did anyone here made the check for USCIS instead of DHS for their AOS and succeeded? Please tell me. I am in tears right now and wanted to kick myself for overlooking the instructions but at the back of my mind and in my heart, I am so hoping that they will consider the check and won't have to resubmit everything.

Where can we get this I-693A form? Can we download it somewhere online?

The USCIS-designated Civil Surgeon would have the I-693A form with him but you may download the form here

I got another question, though. Do I have to include this sealed envelope in our AOS packet or will have to provide it on AOS interview? Aside from that envelope, the nurse gave me copies of what's inside it. Can somebody lighten me up on this before I mail it away???

Yes...send that sealed envelope in with the AOS packet as proof that your shots were updated. Keep your copies, but mail the sealed envelope with your packet. Mine wasn't labeled with the contents by the Doc, so I just wrote on the outside of the front of the envelope, "I-693A". Good luck!

hi just to add uP!!mine too i was positive from tb skin test since for all we know the main reason was our bcg vaccine when we were young. i had my x-ray from the civil surgeon after that and he explained everything and upon checking my x-ray result he said i am ok and nothing to worried another thing is i do nto need to have my blood test as the community clinic nurse told me that my doctor might required that if its needed. 3 days after that the office of the civil surgeon, fax the result to community clinic coz that is where i had my tb skin test. However when we went back there they still hold the result because they are insisted this blood test again. I mentioned them that the doctor itself does not require me of that coz my xray has no problem. But it still they cannot give me complete result without completing my test as well as for them to make it assure that i am not really into contagious tb ,,very annoying by the fact it was the doctors finding that i am okay then still they would still insist (those nurses from that community clinic) that its a states requirement sigh ***. the saddest part we submitted aos however without the tb skin test result bcoz the result will be given after two weeks after, On monday is my schedule for blood test for that its another $44 for that, though its cheaper compare to the hospital well better to make it done soon since we have started it there. Il just bring the result probably during the biometrics or interview.

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament and because of that, you can be certain that you will be receiving RFE because of your incomplete AOS. I am just a little confused and curious and would like to ask some questions:
1. Why do you need to go back to the Community Clinic Nurse if you already had gone to a Civil Surgeon? USCIS only needs the I-693a (Supplement of vaccination) signed by the Civil Surgeon and if there's any comment/remarks that he need to write there about your TB skin test, that's all he needs to do and you don't need the nurse. THe Civil surgeon would only have to include a copy of the results (TB skin test and CXR results). Can you go back to the Civil Surgeon and request for the I-693a with his remarks (in sealed envelop) so you can submit that for your AOS?
2. And may I ask what "blood test" are they requiring from you? What specific blood test they said you need for the exam?
Thanks! God Bless!
Haole
Nothing is "certain" about the AOS now.
Lots of people have not even submitted the I-693a and didn't have RFEs. Took it to the interview with them and didn't have problems.
One didn't even submit ITRs and was approved without an interview!
Others have gone to interview just with th DS 3025 and been approved!
No guarens one way or the other with AOS.

Lots of people have not even submitted the I-693a and didn't have RFEs. Took it to the interview with them and didn't have problems.

We also did not submit an I-693A or a certified marriage license when we filed the AOS because we wanted to file right away. So, we anticipated receiving an RFE but we did not. However, we did take those items to the AOS interview, which the CO did ask for during the interview. I personally would not recommend filing without the paperwork being complete, with very few exceptions, because "theoretically" there should be no way for the AOS to be approved without an interview, unless an RFE is issued and the deficiencies in the submission are satisfied.

That's my five cents. Can someone please give me back my change?

Cheers!!!

I had my tb skin test in the community clinic first. After i returned to them to show my bumps its 15mm obviously positive for the result. They referred me to take an x-ray fr that. 2. And may I ask what "blood test" are they requiring from you? What specific blood test they said you need for the exam?
Thanks! God Bless!

I had my tb skin test in the community clinic first. After i returned to them to show my bumps its 15mm obviously positive for the result. They referred me to take an x-ray fr that. SUpposedly it should be in the other laboratory however my husbands' doctor is one of the accredited civil surgeon in stateline medical center therefore we told them that i can take my x-ray with that doctor since he can also provide that I-1693a. That nurse told me that there are two kind of test to be done to make sure that i do not have tuberculosis. FIrst is the one we knew the x-ray and there is this second thing which is just recently the blood test. through blood test they can determine if i i do have bacteria of that. However, it depends on the doctor if i will still have my blood test if my x-ray result is not good. We went to my husbands' doctor under his medical insurance coverage which is lucky for us under his medical insurance, the x-ray cost is $85 and the doctors' visitation is $220. through the help of his insurance we paid only $25 as his co pay. going back to x-ray our doctor told us that i do not need for the blood test since everything is fine. He just asked us to get the result after 3 days and they will fax it to the community clinic where i had my tb skin test. As they give the result, the community clinis was not satisfied still with that x-ray to provide me the result of negative from tb. They are still insisting to have blood test as a new state policy to make sure that i do not have contagious disease which is tuberculosis. They said one of the accurate teest for that is BLOOD TEST. I was able to submit I-693a completed by the civil surgeon but the tb skin test.....i need to have blood test on monday then 2 weeks after that is the result. we cannot wait for that result by next month for all we know that the price of aos will increase on july 30. hopefully not much problem to encouter in my aos. goodluck to all of us.

Don't worry too much, hopefully your blood test will also be negative. If it takes 2 weeks for the results, I think they're doing the Blood Culture and sensitivity test (?). But it usually takes 3-4 weeks to grow the mycobacterium TB in cultures because they are very slow growing and needs aerobic media, if they do wait for only 2 weeks for the result, then maybe it will still be "no growth" (?) blush.gif (joke). I'm sure you will be fine. Hopefully you're one of the lucky few that will not get RFE because you did not included the "TB test" results and will still get approved! good.gif Think positive! Good Luck and God Bless!
