Embassy Interview June 28th.

Arrived at 5:10 am, there was short line. Instructed to sit in waiting area, we were in third row. At 6:00 they started letting 6:30 appointments in, we got inside at about 6:30. At 7:00 the pre-interviews started. Our number appeared at 7:30. The Filipino pre-interviewer was a woman, maybe in her 40's. She was not unpleasant but strictly business, collecting our papers and asking these questions of Fely: What is your name? Who is your petitioner? How did you come to know him? When did he visit you? Who is Merlita (joint sponsor)? How many kids do you have? Were you married before? She asked for a baptismal certificate because of Fely's late registered birth certificate, which we had. She also asked for a newer NBI clearance, which we did not have. We gave her 3 letters from me, money transfers, cell phone load records, about 18 pictures of us traveling around the Phils and Hong Kong. After that Fely had her fingerprints taken, and we sat and waited 2 hours for our number again. The CO in room 30 was a blonde in her mid 30's. She asked the same questions, and also asked me what happened with my first marriage (just wanted me to say we divorced.

The interview was quick, after the questions she quickly scanned the documents. I saw a piece of paper which was titled "Administrative Review", which she wrote on and place to the side. Then she stamped "Approved" on the packet of papers, and said we should go be seated and wait for our number to pay the visa delivery fee. I asked her if there was to be a review period, she said "no its finished." I asked if we were approved, she said "Yes".

We paid P415 for visa delivery and were out by 10:10. We then went to the Mall of Asia to celebrate.

I had expected to be questioned about the birth certificate and the marriage certificate, which both had errors. They were both non-issues.

Just an update for anyone who happens to be paying attention, lol. Mae got her CENOMAR and apparently there was a problem with her NBI (misspelling) and turned them in. The only information she received was to "go home and wait for the visa". I guess we are in the rest of the AR boat and it could come later rather than sooner.

I wasn't able to get through to the Immigrant Visa unit, but I assume they won't be able to tell me much but the party line. I have us booked on a flight August 4th in 4 weeks (I'm coming to visit and hope to go back together). I would guess this is overly optimistic and I'll have to rebook her (again). Anyone have any words of encouragement? discouragement? Sigh.
JeffK
Congratulations Mae! Thanks again for all your help! I'm not sure where we would be without you. Despite everything I think we will be ok. I really do. Take care!

Hello everyone! I'm here now with my future husband! kicking.gif kicking.gif Boy, it was a long way to be here... 28 hours, Jesus! But thank God, I made it here safe and sound and seeing David at the airport made me forget about the long and tiring trip... and oh, the jetlag. He's worth everthing to me! heart.gif It seems so surreal that I am here with him. I had to pinch myself till I got bruised just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Anyway, it's going to be a busy month for me with all the adjustments to make, meeting my future in-laws, some new friends, plus the wedding preparations on top of everything.

I wish you all the best for those who will have their interview appointments for this month! good.gif And have a happy marriage to those who just got married!

hello all fellow philippine vj'ers! well, sherwin and i arrived in the states march 28, POE guam. and we have been very busy since! but we have been reading this forum from time to time trying to keep up. PW, welcome!! to all those approved, congrats! to all those with upcoming interviews, best of luck!

well, a bit about our arrival in the USA. as i said, POE was Guam, very uneventful, didn't take too long. sherwin carried her x-ray but it was not asked for. our next stop was honolulu, and as we were going from gate to gate we had to go thru security again. well, after we got thru the screening area i set her x-ray on the floor leaning against the chair so i could put my shoes back on.....and left it there. we were already boarded and doors were closing when i remembered it...too late! so we thought, oh well, gone for good, but no big deal, it wasn't really needed anymore after that point. after we were home about 1 week a big envelope arrives for sherwin from hawaii office of US health dept. it was her X-ray! and postage paid too! we were amazed, and pleased that somebody took the time to mail it to us.

one thing that didn't go as planned...when we filled out the ds-230 sherwin checked the block to apply for SSN at the same time. but it never arrived so we had to go to the local SSA office and apply for it. once we did she had her SSN in abt 4 days.

i am a truck driver and sherwin is with me in the truck now. we have been to almost all of the continental states so far, except MN, ND, SD, NE, IA, WY, ID, WA, OR, VT, and RI. and i guess we did all the paperwork right bcz we did have to go to canada 2 times already and had no problem with immigration either time.

anyway, just wanted to give a quick update and to let you all know we do still check in here from time to time.

P.S. to the person that asked about getting Phil mangos in the US, if you find any, PLEASE let us know!

thx, God Bless and take care, Bernie and Sherwin

Hi to all,

Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for including me in your prayers. My daughter and I arrived here in the USA just yesterday. Interview went so smoothly and it was a very quick interview. During the pre-screening hubby and the filipino interviewer had a nice small talk about hubby's height biggrin.gif, he asked the primary documents required from me & daughter then, only the I-134, 2006 Form 1040, and copy of divorce decree. When he started asking snail mails, emails pictures and showed to him all what we got he already said the email was already enough and just our wedding picts hehehe laughing.gif (i was too prepared and have lots of evidences since 1st - 5th visit of my hubby dear really lots of docs to present) He also looked on our previous K1 application and about our flight itinerary which was July 06 already. he said he is afraid that it might not be possible that we can have our visa right away (considering it will be a holiday the next day July 04), then told us to have our seats and wait for the final interview... just after a real few minutes our # flashed on the monitor and we went to room #28. I was nervous but glad that my hubby is there with me so i feel confident plus my lil daughter helps a lot... gesshh kids really have this special natural karisma. The consul was very nice and not so strict, she just asked a few question and my hubby and i already knew we are approved since she right away said that she cant guarantee yet that we can have our visa right away but all she can do is give us the pink stub so we can pick up the visa and asked my # so embassy will just call us when it is already ready. Our interview ended very very nicely with my daughter's sweet goodbye to the consul and vice versa. We waited for their call on July 5 up to 11 AM then we decided to go to the embassy instead of calling to ask for a follow up and then we waited until 1 PM until Window X opens. They told us that our papers still needs the sign of release from the consul and told us to just wait and if 30 min passed without an action yet we should call their attention. So we waited and then finally they called us and went to Window 34 and from there we were told that it still needs the signature from the releasing officer and the normal process for them after the consul sign, it will be forwarded to the releasing department and it takes 1 day before it could be done, but the man told us that they will do the best they can to have it signed and be released within the day. We also told him that we still need to go to CFO office for the stamp so we need it before the CFO office closes, We waited a lil longer and finally at 3:30+ we got our visa... kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif . I right away went to CFO office and had our passport stamped and it cost me 400 only to have the stamp for my daughter alone since i already have the certificate of counselling and as far as i remember on 2003 the cost was 250 something only. Gesshhh saved a lot!

We had a nice flight to Japan and at the Detroit POE we were sent to their office because our petition will already expire since we postponed our interview before and since we right away picked-up the visa i think the embassy weren't able to notice the expiration. The POE officers were nice and good thing i have our lil daughter helps a lot to lessen my tension, one officer started talking to her and said they all like babies in their office and she gave her juice and biscuit... yummm good.gif And finally we arrived safely in my dear hubby's nest wink.gif

Again Thank you so much for all your prayers. ( Arranging our flight right away somehow helped us to have our visa too soon).

by the way, the consul said that she does so much appreciates it when the petitioner comes during interview because it helps a lot when it comes to explaining. Good luck to all those who will have their interviews soon. Prayers helps a lot! God bless!

Thanks everyone, for including us in your prayers.

I have a question though,

I called the manila embassy and they stated on the 5th of July that they approved the visa and that it had to be printed...

I made plane reservations for the 24th of July for her to leave for the usa.

She lives in davao

Is that too soon? Do you think the visa will get delivered before the 24th?

Thanks again, and may god bless as always

I spoke to the US Embassy in Manila again tonight. This time I was told that the CO is done and we are only awaiting "technical checks"? I asked what is a technical check and was told check of biometric and/or fingers scan. Anyone ever heard of this? I asked how long does this take, and she said no way of knowing exactly, but to call back Friday. She said she would tell the "Technical Department" I am calling and checking on my case. Actually tonight the Embassy has been more empathetic and forth coming than in the past.

On a side note, I received a letter from my US Rep. Tim Johnson's Office dated July 3rd, saying they have sent an inquiry to the US Consular Section in Manila and will get back to me as soon as they receive a response.

I also got an email from Senator Dick Durbin's Office,

" The U.S. consulate in Manila has acknowledged that your fiancé does not qualify for derivative U.S. citizenship. They have referred her I 129F to an adjudicating consular officer to resume its processing. Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions or concerns."

It has been almost five weeks now and they still are telling me they don't need anything from us, it is in one type of processing or another………

So what should I think? Technical Check?

ANO!

You know the process is bad enough but if they would just start telling us what is wrong that is causing any delay would go a long way with everyone involved. After all we are the ones that filed the case in the first place. They definitely need some classes in customer service to say the least.

Good luck,

Ano (A-noh)
The all-around, all-purpose word for everything.
(1) Pronoun in interrogation: Ano? (What)
(2) Noun: Where is your ano? (Where is your father/mother/dead-uncle's-second-cousin)
(3) Verb: Anuhin this. (Paint/kill/maim/castrate this.)
(4) Adjective: This is so ano. (This is so pretty/big/astounding.)
(5) Interjection: Ano! (What the hell!)
(6) Substitute for genitalia: Did you ano your ano?
The use of ano is quite dangerous for the untrained ear, and must be put into the proper setting.
"Honey, the ano is too long, we have to cut it," must be accompanied by the proper understanding of the context, as results may be critical to a couple's future.

Success at the interview!

My fiance's interview was last Friday July 6th. I am with her in Manila staying accross the street from the embassy. Everything went smoothly and at the end of the interview I presented a letter to the CO requesting that my fiance pick up the visa in person. Today she received a call from the embassy informing her that the visa will be available for pick up tomorrow! It will be 5 days total including the weekend since the interview. We are both relieved and joyfull. Thanks for all the support from the VJ community. We will be able to make our flight home next week now!

The only thing left to do here in Manila is to get the CFO stamp after she picks up the visa tomorrow. I guess we need to figure out where to go! blush.gif

I guess we need to figure out where to go! blush.gif

hello good day to all of you!i would like to ask regarding about the iisuance of DMV ID. Today i had my SSN CARD finally which i just applied last june 4. Its really good that I have it earlier for application of my AOS. After that me and my husband went to DMV for an ID application. However, they said that my k1 visa will expires on aug. 29, 2007. that means i will be just wasting my money if i will get dmv id coz that will tend to expire my dmv id too. they advised me to change my passport name into my married name then renew that visa. my concern is where can i possibly go to change my name appeared in my passport to be after with my husband's surname? Because until now they dont even recognized my SSS which is my surname is my husband's surname. thank you for your help. Also since I got married last JUne 16 what will happen if my fiancee visa will expire?

Yes, Congratulations everyone that has had success.

I was going to give the emabassy an A+ on their efficiency and constantly correct information. That was until the very very last advice we received from them. When Jena picked up her visa it went very smoothly. They called her to the window at exactly the time they told her on the phone. After she got the visa the lady mentioned her CFO stamp and gave Jena a one page print out with addresses in Manila. Jena explained that she had already taken the course and only needed the stamp. The lady told her which CFO office was the closest to the embassy so we took a cab to that address. 2nd floor of the Equitable-PCI Bank Building 2422 Taft ave. After Jena checked in I asked the guard how long she would be and he told me 2 hours. I explained that all she needed was the stamp since she already had the seminar. The guard then informed us we would need to go to Citigold Center, 1345 Pres. Quirino Ave. for the stamp.

So all in all I had to drop the grade of the embassy to an A-, but still a wonderfull job.

I guess now we have alot of extra time since our flight isn't until Tues. 17th. We may call NW and see if the have seats open on an earlier flight.

BTW, we stayed in the Boulevard Mansion for P1650 per night. Its old but not that bad. Watch out for the laundry service, it's kind of expensive.

Take care everyone and good luck to all,
See you in the USA!

News like this really starts my day off right!

Even though our interview is still a month away, it gives me a sense of relief to see so many approvals.
C&M14
Me and my 3 kids had our interview today and we were approved!!!!

I just want to thank everybody here for the all the help and information you gave to me which I credit for having a very smooth-sailing interview experience. By reading about other people’s experiences and advices here, it helped me to know what to expect and come to my interview prepared. We were also very fortunate to have a very nice Filipino Pre-Screener who didn't smile much but were joking with my kids and a very nice woman consul who were smiling all throughout the interview. God bless them!

We woke up at 4:30 am, left our Sucat house at 5:40 am and arrive at the embassy at past 6 am. Our interview was set at 7 am. The vendors at the waiting shed told us that 7 am applicants were not yet called and offered us some chairs for rent. I figured that since it is already past 6 am, we will not be waiting too long before the guards will call the 7 am applicants so I didn’t rent any chairs and just waited standing up. At 6:20 am, me and my kids went to the embassy gate to find out if they could already let us in. The guard told us that they are not yet calling 7 am applicants and asked us to go back to the waiting shed. But the other guard told him to let us in since they will be calling the 7 am applicants soon anyway. So we went in, had our things scanned, then was given 7001 for our ticket number.

At 8:00 am we had our finger scanned, then at 8:30 were called for our pre-screening. The Filipino pre-screener was nice and even joked with my kids which made us laughed. I was so tensed the whole morning and so it helped me felt at ease. Documents asked from me were:
- Birth certificates and baptismal certificates – I told him I didn’t bring any baptismal certs, only our birth certificates and he said ok.
- NBI clearance
- Affidavit of support with 2006 ITR, W2, employment letter. He didn’t get my other supporting documents like recent paystubs, 2005 & 2004 ITR, bank statements, stocks certificates etc.
- Divorce decree of my fiancée
- He only asked for ATM receipts for money sent by my fiancée as my proof of relationship. ( He didn’t ask for emails, chat logs, snail mails, gift receipts or phone records. I felt a little bad that he didn’t ask for those since I took a lot of time and effort to organize them)
- Pictures together
- My old passport since I told him I have been to the US before
- He didn’t ask for my CENOMAR but I offered it to him, and he accepted it.

Questions asked by pre-screener:
- Who is my petitioner
- When did we meet and where?
- Last time I met my fiancée
- How many times he visited
- What happened to my previous relationship with the father of my kids and why we didn’t marry
- Then to my kids, he asked them where are they studying and teased one of my daughters why is she short when her two other sisters were tall. We all laughed on that.

At 9:30 we were called for our interview at Window 30. The consul was still interviewing a family so we waited outside the cubicle. After their interview, we went in and the consul smiled and ask me how I am. I said fine though I was very nervous inside. She looked over our papers and asked me the following questions:
- Who is my petitioner
- When and how did we meet?
- How many times he visited?
- Ask me if I have ever been to the US before and I said yes, and just look over my old passport.
- She asked me to tell her something about my fiancée
- Then she asked my kids what’s their birthday.

She ended the interview with “ Ok, you can go back to your seat and wait for your name to be called again and pay the fees for the delivery of your visas.” I understood what she meant but I want to make sure so I asked “ Do you mean Mam, we are approved?” And she said “Yes, you are approved and congratulations!” I said “Thank you very much Mam”. If there were no glass between us I could have hug and kiss her right there and then! LOL!

So we went out, got the pink slip and paid Delbros. We were out of the embassy at 10:15 am.

I just want to thank again everybody and Visa Journey. My journey was really smooth-sailing and problem-free because of all of you! I also want to say congrats to all were approved recently!

hi we had similar issue although mine was they didnt want me to take a dmv test knowing i dont have a "green card" yet blah blah blah (here in CO) anyways its a big hassle to change your passport especially if your dealing with both aos and phil consular (more chaos)... my opinion/suggestion is, if they wont give you a drivers license its best to wait to process your aos first and wait for your GC... by filing you could use your husbands name as your last and your maiden name as you middle (like our phil law). then worry about your passport later... its ok for your visa to expire knowing you're already married. you can stay here (legally) without the aos yet. but by filing the aos, gives you more opportunity to work and get a drivers license etc when you get your GC... good.gif God bless

yup. especially if your passport wont expire any minute soon... you could change it when you have your green card already, or when you really have to (before expiration date). my opinion...

We had good news that the visa is released and on it's way! This is about a week after Mae turned in the missing CENOMAR. Delbros is saying delivery in the next 2 days.

We're both very happy since this means she'll be able to return with me on the 4th.

QUOTE(JeffK @ Jul 5 2007, 10:16 PM) *

Sigh.

Take the I-1485 AOS Application to the civil surgeon's office and show them page 4, on the left side, states, "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application." Don't worry, most civil surgeons are high on drugs wacko.gif if they think that they can swindle VJ members in order to make a fast buck. They better think twice! good.gif

can anyone please help me if you had been to any clinic to the states i have mentioned above that does not take full medical exam?
Thank you very very very much.

Imatellin you to click on my wife's profile in my signature. Go to her signature and check out the USCIS's Civil Surgeon Locator to find one in your area...

yes i have made calls already but they tellin me to have my full medical exam. i want the one that will only get me a td shot and not the full medical exam again. huhuhuhu, i will make calls to washington or las vegas. but if anyone knows which civil surgeon that will only take me a Td shot and not full medical exam...please tell me:-) thank you very much. also...my fiance's an active US military...do they provide one for me...oh i'm out of context here. well i gotta talk to him about it when he calls me back(he's still in the warzone for a mission...soon he'll be home and i pray and hope for their safety home-coming)

Take the I-1485 AOS Application to the civil surgeon's office and show them page 4, on the left side, states, "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who hada medical examination within the past year asrequired for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, youonly need to submit a vaccination supplement, not theentire medical report. You may include thevaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application." Don't worry, most civil surgeons are high on drugs. wacko.gif
