Thanks, she just texted me at 12:15 PM Manila time. They asked her to come back after lunch. She said she hadn't had her interview yet and everything is fine so far. That's the first I've heard that it would continue after lunch. Anyway, looks like I'll be up later than I thought tonight. Needles and pins.

Does US Manila embassy accept co-sponsor? I read somewhere that US embassy in Manila is very strict on this and sometimes doesnt accept this. Anyone who can confirm......
They accept documentation for co-sponsor but there's a 99% chance that visa will be denied if you are K1. I've only heard of one K1 who was approved using a co-sponsor but she is a NURSE (which is in short supply in the US) who also had a firm job offer from a hospital. So, your case should really be extraordinary for embassy to issue visa using co-sponsor.

It feels so good to have the visa approved!!
Mharis told me the pre-screener asked for the affadavit of support, her bc, latest tax record with w2, and photos only. They had a friendly chat in Tagalog about the photos in Bohol. She wasn't asked for chats, emails, cards, phone records, etc.
She waited most of the day with three other ladies with K1's and at noon they asked them to come back at one for their interviews. Mharis dashed across the street and we talked for a few minutes where she told me not to worry it was going well and keep praying.
She said there were a few interviewers the women saw took a long time with the clients, and everyone was nervous they would be called to one of their windows. When she was called, she went to a window with a nice young woman who again had a friendly chat with her mostly about the pictures. Then she said, "Congratulations, you're approved." Yay. the other three ladies were approved that day as well.
She paid Delbros and is waiting now for the visa to arrive. Now we start the next part of the journey. Our plan is for me to finish the teaching year and summer school and fly out to escort her home the last week of July.
Thanks again to everyone of Visa Journey! You helped give us confidence and gave us great information at every step of the way. I emailed all the success stories to Mharis to let her know we were going to make it too. Mabuhay!

i got question regarding CFO...
Is there a certain period required for me to take the seminar from the date of my visa approval? I was approved in may 22 and only planning to leave for US in september...will it be okay if i take the CFO around july or august? as long as a date before i leave?
also...with regard to validity of visa...
my visa will expire on nov 22, 2007...i understand that this is the last day i need to leave for US...right? So would there be problem if i leave in september and only gets married in december 2007? the nov 22 date does not pertain to actual wedding date, right? otherwise, ill get married beyond the nov 22 date or should i get married before nov 22?
as usual, thank you for the well-advices.

CFO can be done at any time. will need the sticker in your passport by the day you depart for USA. Nov 22, the date your visa expires, is the last day it would be valid for entry into the USA. once you arrive in the USA, you have up to 90 days to get married. so say if you arrive in the USA sept 1, you would have to be married by Nov 29th.

Nov 22 is the last day you may enter the US. If you arrive in the U.S. after Nov 22, you will not be allowed to enter regardless of when you started your journey.
You have 90 days from the time you enter the US to get married. The 90 days starts when you enter regardless of when the visa expires.

hi everyone!
just want to ask some info regarding what documents i need to bring with me at the airport when me and my kids will leave for the US, aside of course from our visas. I have three kids and i was never married to their father and the birth certificates of my kids don't list their father's name. I know I don't need any DSWD clearance to take my kids out of the country. But i have read somewhere that at the NAIA airport, the Immigration people would ask for birth certificates and CENOMAR from me to confirm i have custody of my kids and don't need father's consent? I just want to know if this is true, especially from those with K2 children, what were your experiences about this? And if they do need those documents, would they require originals or just photocopies?
I don't have yet our visas but I just want to prepare all the documents I may need as early as possible. Thanks!

Got few questions:
1. When is I-864 required?
2. Can I already work if I already have SSN?
3. I understand that EAD is no longer required to apply for SSN but I can only have EAD during AOS. Am i right?
4. I need to know when can i exactly start working?
thanks.

hi... got the same situation my friend. But no need to worry there is no need for you to show them anything except for the passport with the visa and stickers from the CFO and the sealed envelopes from the Embassy( do not open it).and of course the ticket. he he he...kidding aside I and my daughter were scare too the whole duration of the flight but it was very exciting too. Just put a smile of ur face and enjoy the whole flight. The immigration officers are all good and understanding. Be ur self and just answer the questions they ask you.But it would be wise not to check-in ur Documents bring it with you.

Got few questions:
1. When is I-864 required?
the I-864 Affidavit of Support will be used when you AOS.
2. Can I already work if I already have SSN?
you also need an EAD to be employed.
3. I understand that EAD is no longer required to apply for SSN but I can only have EAD during AOS. Am i right?
a K-1 can obtain a SSN without an EAD. you need to do so before your I-94 expires. best to do so no later than 2 to 3 weeks before your I-94 expires.
4. I need to know when can i exactly start working?
depends on how soon you marry and submit AOS/EAD after arriving in the USA. it takes about 3 months for the EAD
thanks.

Got a few answers (this reminds me of imaskin because I always wanna write imatellin... hehehehe):
1. When is I-864 required?
The I-864 (Affidavit of Support) is required when submitting the I-485 (Adjustment of Status Application) for the Adjustment of Status (AOS) process and must be accomplished after the petitioner and beneficiary marry in the United States.
2. Can I already work if I already have SSN?
Absolutely NOT! Working prior to your AOS approval is prohibited and is grounds for deportation, per US Immigration Laws. Besides, a SSN is not even required to apply and/or complete the AOS process.
3. I understand that EAD is no longer required to apply for SSN but I can only have EAD during AOS. Am i right?
Yes! The EAD is issued during the AOS process and at no other time .
4. I need to know when can i exactly start working?
The beneficiary is permitted to work:
1. When the beneficiary's EAD application (I-765) is approved and the EAD Card has been received or
2. two, when the AOS is approved and the green card is received.
The Green Card "Permanant Residency Card" supercedes the EAD Card and Advance Parole permiting the now Permanant Resident to work and travel outside the United States.
Cheers!!!

Hi,
I wonder if anybody could answer me here.. I hope.
We're working on gathering the papers for the AOS process, i need the I-1693A to submit together with the other documents when we send the application right, means that I need to have my TD vaccination supplement before the AOS? because I wonder if we could just send the G-325A,I-864 Affidavit of Support and I-485 and other documents needed but the I-693A, and have the TD shot after we submit those papers cause that way we could send the application by tomorrow or within this week. We want to be sure we apply it before the June ends..
Thanks.

Well so far so good with the medical exam, I think. Fely was in be 6 am and out by 2 pm. She mentioned the "getting naked" part, but it wasn't a problem. She'll go back again tomorrow for one more test and then her shots. They did try to tell her that it was too early for the exam, that its supposed to be one week before the interview. The instruction sheet says AT LEAST one week, so I assume the person that signed her in just didn't know what he was talking about.

Check the Accredited Civil Surgeons in your area. They have the forms for that (I-693A). You only have to bring a copy of your immunization record that St. Luke's gave you. Also scout how much it will cost for the TD shots and the transfer of records as they differ. If there's a Health Center near your area, theyyou can get a free TD shots there and then just ask for your record and then go to a Civil Surgeon to transfer that record to the I-693A form.
Here's also a link for the I-693A form->

Hi there StarProg, if I have read this thread before I went to St.Luke's today, I could have met your Fely

. It's my second day though--for shots. Medical went fine, I guess, because I dont have to redo some tests anymore and I was told to proceed to 2nd floor already--which is for immunization area. No one asked me why am i taking my medical so early, it's a month before my interview, I just noticed that ladies at the reception doesnt smile at all, very serious people

Hope our upcoming interviews goes well too, let's pray to that

Congrats to all those who got approved.
I am waiting for my medical and interview schedule. I would like get advice on the documents needed for the interview, based on your experiences.
1. ITR/W2 - i got a copy of my fiance's ITRs/W2 but it has no signature. I wonder if it has to be signed by him
2. NBI clearance - for those who have previous marriage and filed for K-1 visa, did you get an NBI clearance with your maiden name or does it has to be with married name?
Appreciate your help
