Nickiesha will be coming in through Miami. I've traveled through there often, so I have given her detailed information as to what to expect and where to go. She is actually traveling on a free ticket. When I was returning from the last interview my flight from Miami to Indy was overweight. I volunteered to stay in Miami overnight and got a $250 flight couple and hotel/meals.

I may have gone through alot, but have done quite well on the airline ticket side. Most of my flights have been paid for by the company I work for. I have only had to pay for 3 of my trips myself. I expect that at least once before the end of the year, I'll be going back bringing the wife on the company, probably late August early September. Of course I'll be working and only have weekends myself, but it will be good for my wife, unless she gets herself a job she can't leave. Not that I'm concerned about her working, but she'll need something to do while I am at work,

Does anyone know what some of these immunizations are? I'm wondering if my fiance can check his records for them and if he still needs some, wondering if its cheaper for him to get them now from his local clinic. I know that will be cheaper. I'm trying to save as much time an money as possible.

Any ideas?

I am not sure where your man is in JA, but Hope Medical in Mobay can be very accomodating squeezing you in for an appointment quickly. Though they cost a little more than the 2 in Kingston.

Unfortunately Kingston does not always follow their own procedures, but you should be able to get what they call a Blue Sheet Interview, which can take about 2 weeks two schedule. Of course The idiots scheduled a full blown interview for my wife for April 3rd, when we were waiting on a physical, even though that is not what they said they would do.

Here is the info on the medical. Since you have your date make your appointment tomorrow.

YOUR MEDICAL EXAMINATION
1. SCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT
You must schedule your medical examination at least seven days prior to the date of your visa interview. The date of your visa interview appears on your appointment letter. Failure to complete your ..medical examination by the seven days prior to your visa interview may result in delays with your visa application, so you should be sure to make arrangements to take your exam at the earliest opportunity.
There are three locations authorized to perform examinations for immigrant visas, and you may have your exam done at the most convenient location for you.
MoBay Hope Medical Centre Andrews Memorial Hospital Dr. Michael Banbury
Half Moon Shopping Village 27 Hope Road Medical Associates Hospital
Rose Hall, Montego Bay Kingston 10 18 Tangerine PI
St. James (876)926-7401-3 Kingston 10
(876)953-3981 (876)908-2123
US$95 for adults US$90 for adults US$80 for adults
US$50 for children under 15 US$50 for children under 15 US$47 for children under 15
You must call ahead to schedule a specific appointment time with the doctor of your choice.
2. MEDICAL EXAMINATION FEES
The fee schedule is as noted above, payable in U.S. dollars or the Jamaican equivalent. No personal cheques are accepted.
3. WHAT TO BRING TO THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION
-Completed medical history form (on reverse) -Your appointment letter
-Passport -Four (4) passport size pictures
-Any immunization records showing prior vaccinations **Please remove all necklaces and neck chains prior to the examination.
4. IMMUNIZATION
U.S. immigration law requires that all applicants be vaccinated for the following diseases:
Mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus, diptheria, pertussis, influenza type B, hepatitis B, varicella (chicken pox), pneumococcal, and influenza.
Depending upon your age, you may not need all of these vaccinations. Please present your immunization records to the physician at the time of the examination for the physician to determine which immunizations you may need. You may receive any needed vaccinations at the time of your examination. Please note that immunization fees are not included in the cost of your examination. Please be prepared to pay for any additional vaccines that you may require.
5. HIV TESTING
During the immigrant visa medical examination, the physician tests all applicants over the age of 15 for antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), a disease which may lead to acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). In cases in which the physician has reason to believe that a child under age 15 might be HIV-positive, he or she may require that the child undergo a blood test.
AIDS is the name given to a group of illnesses that may occur in persons infected with HTV. Infection with HIV causes a defect in a person's natural immunity against disease. This defect leaves infected people vulnerable to serious illnesses that would not normally be a threat to someone with a healthy immune system. A positive test result for HIV does not mean you have AIDS, but that you are at risk to' develop it. Any positive results will be confirmed with an additional test.
The results of your test will be provided to a consular officer, and may be reported to the Jamaican health authorities, as required by Jamaican law. If the test results are positive, you will be ineligible for the visa and the consular officer is required by U.S. law to deny the application. However, a waiver of this ineligibility may be possible, and the consular officer will explore that possibility with you during the interview.

I might seem a little impatient, but is is normal that my file has not been touched since the 5th of April which was coincidentally the same day I received my NOA1.

I'm just a little worried that it has not been touched, I look at other timelines at Vermont and it seem like they issue NAO2's or RFE's within 2 weeks of the NOA1. I'm just wondering whether or not they lost my package or something. At one point should I consider calling?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, you're waaaaay too impatient laughing.gif Your NOA1 is ONLY 2 weeks old!!! I had to wait approx. 90 days from my NOA1 til the NOA2. Count yourself lucky that you're going thru Vermont.

HEY RHONDAPAYTER I WASN'T SURE IF YOU WERE EPLYING TO ME...WHAT DO U MEAN MY NOA IS ONLY 2 WKS ? IM NOT EVEN SURE WHAT HALF OF THESE ACRONYMS ARE

THANKS

The NOA is Notice of Approval. You get an NOA1 when you first send in your Visa petition. Then, after it is approved, you will get an NOA2. The majority of us had to wait 2 to 4 months from the time we sent in our petition until we received an NOA2. That's why I said you're being impatient tongue.gif You just got your NOA1 on April 5 right? That was just a few weeks ago!!!

I think those rates you quoted are for land lines. Cell minutes are $.19 per minute. I still think that's about the best deal I've seen.

Watch out for all the connection fees from this provider. When it comes to calling a cell in JA Ringyard is still a better deal, cause they don't have connection fees and such.

Ringyard is what I am using now. I still have $ .10 a minute but once I use that purchase up; it'll change to .19 per minute. You're right, there are no connection fees and the rounding is good too on Ringyard.

I'm pretty happy with Cable & Wireless Canada's Foreign Phone. Cost is in Canadian dollars.

For $34.95 a month I get Unlimited Calls to US, Canada, and Great Britain. 0.03 to a Jamaican land line, 0.17 to a Jamaican Cell phone. I have an Indiana phone number and a Jamaican number. So I am a local call from JA.
Call forwarding is great, I have gotten online and changed it to forward to the embassy, then call my US home phone number from the office when I needed to call the embassy. I also change it with my cell browser to call my wife when I'm on the road.

Now as she is planning on leaving JA, she is giving her family and friends a local number that they can call her on.

I don't know if anyone has tried this (mobilecaller.com) but i got 541 mins for $20.00. You can register your house phone and cell phone. My hubby has alot of friends and fam back in the yard and this really cut my bill 75%.
Hope everyone's having a good day. kicking.gif

Hello all. The stranger is back. First thing VISA APPROVED kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif Thursday April 19th.

Of course as the rest of our case went it was another roller coaster ride. Here’s how the last month or so went. Where I left off we were told Nickiesha needed another physical on her interview on Feb 20th. They also told us that they would schedule her a BLUE SHEET interview before her police report expired on March 23rd, if we got the physical done quickly. That day we scheduled another physical for just a few days later. The following day I requested the appointment. It took weeks for them to come back with an April 3rd date; of course this was too late for the police report. Calls reminding them of their promise by myself and Indiana Senator Lugar’s office had no effect. So Nickiesha goes for an expedited police report. She returns as scheduled to pick it up. They tell her sorry it’s not ready we will send it to your local police station for Thursday April 5th. Of course that is too late so we have to reschedule the interview. Of course it did show up in the afternoon on April 3rd. I manage to get an April 19th date at 12:30, which is 1:30 here in Indiana. Around 2pm I get a call from Nickiesha, they will not let her in for the interview; her name is not on the list. I tell her to wait across the street; I’m going to make some calls. I call Senator Lugar’s office, they say they’ll call the embassy and see what they can do. I call a few times myself, I get routed to voicemail and then eventually to the idiot security guard that was giving my wife the problems in the first place. End result of my calls the idiot tells me that we will have to get another appointment. I tell him that this isn’t the end of it they will be hearing from a US Senator. About 45 minutes later I get a call from the senator’s office. They tell me they found where she did have an appointment and had no explanation why she was not on the list. He still had them on the line at the time. He asks me if she is still there. I say yes she is waiting across the street. I was told she should come back in 5 minutes they will let the security guard know she can be let in. I would have loved to see that man’s face when he was told. I suspect the office was embarrassed over the situation as when she got to the door they brought her straight in, took her passport and police report and she was out of there in less than 20 minutes. Throughout this whole procedure they including the previous interview they never asked her one question.

Nickiesha’s flight is next week Saturday. Four years and five scheduled interviews later finally a visa.

kicking.gif kicking.gif I long time overdue!!!! I am soo happy for you guys!!! Your wife has a wonderful man who perservers(Sp)!!!!!

I've been thinking, the Yardie compund is a really cool idea. But until we can settle on a location hows about we HOUSE SWAP! Kinda like that show Wife Swap, except were not exchanging husbands and wives, were swapping homes for a weekend.

laughing.gif I think it would be even better if we did do a "wife swap"!!! laughing.gif Wouldn't that be funny to see how everyone else's Jamaican husband REALLY was??!!!

Your a mess. laughing.gif No I think not. no0pb.gif

yes.gif Good Morning Everyone.

Has your hubby or wife ever said something to you that was just hilarious or unbelievable??

When I was living in JA, my husband told me that we could not eat from paper plates because they cause cancer. I laughed so hard I almost peed on myself but he kept a straight face…he was dead serious. Because he was so serious, I couldn’t stop laughing. laughing.gif

Also, I was in the kitchen and out of nowhere a lizard fell on my arm. My husband says it means that I am pregnant. (Hey, I’m actually pregnant, so maybe this one is true...)

I thought I heard it all but maybe not, what does your SO tell you???

Wow, that's a cool plan. And they have that in the US? I need to check that out.

good suggestion nyceness. my fiance's immunization records are lost so he will be getting them prior to his medical.

hey belwin- did your hubby have to start all over with his immunizations? Do you know which specific shots he did get?

eric- what will be your wife's port of entry?

He had his shots that were done when he went to school. He said he had to get two shots and one more a little later in May. I sent him 250 for the whole process. There was a green sheet stating him not to go to a doctors clinic. So he didn't want to ruin his chances so he stuck to the plan. I think so far this whole thing has costed me 3,000 USA dollars paperwork and his items to get. By the time I get my hubby here about 3,500. This is my airfare, hotel, police records, rides to Kingston to get them, doctors visit, passport, birthcertificate, passport photos. I am so suprised they are uping the fees too. whistling.gif

Wow Jax that seems like a lot.

It's been almost 84 days for me, am I allowed to be impatient?
