i saw this posetd on another forum....

I thought I should pass this along. Check your driver's license. Now you can see anyone's Driver's License on the Internet, including your
own! I just searched for mine and there it was...picture and all!!
Thanks Homeland Security! Where are our rights? I definitely
removed mine. I suggest you do the same.

Go to the web site and check it out. Just enter your name, city and state
to see if yours is on file. After your license comes on the screen, click the
box marked,

"Please Remove." This will remove it from public viewing, but not from law
enforcement.

So much great news on the site today! I luv it! good.gif Congrats!!

so do you have male friends or is that out to. is there a trust issue between the two of you. at this stage in your life you should be able to have a better understanding that you cant control a person. if he tells you that when you meet someone you cant be friends with them. then how r u feeling. maybe he is hiding it from you because you have such a issue about him having a female friend. if you meet a man do you always want to have a relation with him other than friends. im not trying to side with him on anything but only to look at it objectively and see why you may be having this problem. if you try to keep him controlled dont you think you will push him away. if you make him feel like he is a child. if he is looking for another woman then thats another thing. thats something you wont be able to control either.
all the best to you and i hope you work things out with your husband. i know you are feeling unappreciated but hang in there.
Yep, I absolutely do have male friends....and the male friends I've had I've been friends with for over 15 yrs and I've introduced Craig (within his 1st week of getting here). He has their numbers and he can contact each and everyone of them whenever he feels....that also goes along with my female friends. "I" am not out to find or meet "new" male friends....why should I ??? I don't need any new male friends. If Craig wants to have female friends, no problem, as long as they are both of our friends. We have ALOT of mutual friends in Jamaica.

I'm not sure what point of this you're not getting. At this point in our lives.....new female friends?? for what??? companionship? to hang out with? to "talk" with??? The women he met (when he 1st got here) had NO CLUE he was married, never called the house phone....but that's all ended.

Craig didn't trust me ....don't know why, his own insecurity. He only goes by what he knows about American women and working in resorts ...sees them (most) of them come to Jamaica and totally cheat on THEIR own husbands. "I" not a cheat and never have been and it's hard for him to accept (I guess you wanna call it that) the "real deal"!!!

Oh and I'm FAR from being controlling....

luvtravlin
I wish you all the best of luck and hope all of you have long, happy <and PROBLEM FREE> marriages heart.gif

Mindy....PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE DON'T GO !!!!! You guys won't believe HOW MUCH this site has helped me !!!!! It's interesting to see how everyone feels about things. Although every marriage is NOT perfect and I truly don't understand why Craig has done things that he's done, but I gotta say after this weekend and MORE talking, spending the entire weekend in "quality time" (thank god for rain and canceling soccer ----God works in mysterious ways, huh?!!!) about his issues and how he feels about things, gosh.......it's awesome!!!

We got to spend time with another VJ'r and her man, we all went to a Jamaican restaurant and then went bowling.....we had SUCH A GREAT TIME !!!!! It's just really to bad that we live so flippin far away from each other, well no *that* far, but not 10 min away !!!

I appreciate all of the positive support, especially for the veterans that have known me and my relationship for the past 2 yrs, especially you Mindy. I TRUUUULY truly do.........so please stick around and make us laugh !!! The negatively...eh, I just blow that all off !!!

Thanks again everyone kicking.gif

yes.gif Aaaww, I am so excited for you. Congratulations. I took two pregnancy tests in JA, and my husband and I are a bunch of dummies, because neither one of us knew how to read a pregnancy test. (I have never been pregnant, never thought I was pregnant, so I never needed one.) However, the two that we took were in small plain white packages. No instructions or nothing, just the instrument. Sooner or later we found out that they both were negative. We both were disappointed, so of course we didn't give up. tongue.gif So when I got here I purchased a "nicer" test. I had one that says + if your pregnant, and - if your not. The first line that appeared within a milisecond was the " | " line, so I knew it was a done deal. But I have heard the same thing about the false negatives. Once again, Congratulations and keep us updated.

Ok ladies, so here's my dilemma: I already booked part of our next trip to Jamaica. The bad part is that it is for Nov. 3-10 and I will be about 8 months pregnant at that time ohmy.gif I do NOT think we should be travelling to a foreign country that far along in my pregnancy no0pb.gif With my luck I would go into labor on the airplane headbonk.gif

What sucks is that I'm not sure when we're gonna go now. We didn't really want to go in the summer because it's actually nice and warm here and it's Tony's busiest time at work. And then Sept. and Oct. are the worst months for hurricane season. helpsmilie.gif We don't want to wait until next year, because Tony wants to see his family and friends. Any suggestions???

CONGRATS !!! Any mommy-to-be questions....ask away kicking.gif

It's really up to your doctor as to whether you'll be able to fly....I'm assuming no, because they don't want you flying in your 3rd trimester, especially to a "foreign" country. I flew Sept 13th-ish home (I live in Arizona at the time) to Maryland for my high school reunion ....and I was due in Dec, but doc told me that was my last flight till baby was born.

You won't get any money back for non-refundable tickets unless you booked a package and then depending on the package, they all have restrictions. Only if there is a death in the immediate family you'd be able to get any type of money refunded back to you. You could always write a letter to wherever you booked as ask for some type of compensation, but for being pregnant...to be honest, doubt you'd get any money??? Again, if you booked directly with the airline, the airline charges $100-$150 for canceling.

I personally wouldn't recommend flying that close to your due date, but again.....ask your doctor. Also call the airline and ask what their policy is as well.

Good morning ladies. I have to chime in on a few things. First of all, biggest congrats to Rhonda and Jonesie. It must be so exciting. What a future you have ahead of you, good luck!

Secondly, I have to agree with some of the topics discussed here. We want to remain supportive through our journeys and be friends to one another. For many of us this was a place where we felt free to talk about things because often we didn't have people in our lives who could understand. Let's all remember to help and be there for one another.

Lastly I have a Jamaica question. My brother-inlaw had a daughter about 4 years ago but because of other circumstances he did not get his name on the birth certificate, another man did. They know that the little girl is his, that was never in question. He now wants the little girl to have his surname but he is living in the states. Does anyone know where I can help him get the information on how to go about this.

As always, I appreciate any help I can get.

Have a blessed day!

How are things going?

HELLO FAMILY!!! Wow, it took a minute to catch up on whats been going on here.
1st Nannygirl----Hugs to you, Please pray & communicate.
Sonshyne....no visa yet!!!! I know how you feel truly.
Ricardo....congrats.

OK, me. Well, sweetie made it last week. Got the Employment stamp---mission accomplished. He will start work in 2 weeks w. many options. He got sick the first few days because he was up north in the freakin snow. Of course his family up there (need I mind you extended family who didnt do shi***to get him here in the 1st place) didnt know what to do to take care of him etc. The weather was a true shock to his system. He did enjoy meeting them though. Im sure theres more to it that Im not being told. Anyway, his so called cousin screwed him out of his flight a couple of times ---didnt get him to the airport etc. You know I was pissed off. Nonetheless, he is here now. His first day he was sleeping a lot, not talking much or eating. This is what I call depression!!! I know thanks to many of you that this transition will take time. So Ive been helping him through it. We have gone out to a Caribbean dinner, malls, riding around just etc. he has finally met my family (who love him), he has been totally awesome & accepted by my 4 year old--He even started to teach him how to ride his bike yesterday. I need to just get him acclimated to the surroundings a few times. He loves the weather ---he can wear his shorts again. One day at a time. I hate leaving him to go to work, but he is understanding. I am willing to go home everyday for lunch until he gets his job to keep him on his toes & going. I do feel for him. I just have to remind myself that yes, he did leave everything he knew. It did feel like he resented me. I understand though & in time we will be back up. Im trying to get him comfortable & to be happy being here & remind him that he can still be independent. This a.m. I got a "I love you too" which put a huge smile on my face. Tonight we are going to a NBA game & Im anxious to take him to Home Depot & the Market. We went to a Caribbean grocery store which was worthless---no Betty Milk, no blue mountain coffee, no Horlicks--what a mess. All in all, I am still so happy he is here. I keep reminding myself that its not me & he is not on vacation like I was before. One day at a time, one step at a time. I do feel that if he didn't have an opportunity to work quickly it would be devastating. I couldn't imagine having him wait up to 6 months to work. That would be too damaging. My next step is to have him driving. smile.gif

Thanks for that. This is a challenge. But I am in prayer & hopeful. With a job on the horizon he will get his manhood back quickly.

Thats kinda what I was thinking...go AFTER the baby and that way Tony can see all his family PLUS show off the new baby yes.gif Plus that would be a great time for you to kinda relax after having a baby and if Tony has a big family (can't remember) I am sure you will have no trouble having helping hands while you get some R&R.

I am going for a job interview type thing and have to take a test using Publisher...I have used all the other Microsoft Office stuff like excel, powerpoint etc. Anybody use Publisher? Is it pretty straightforward? I really want this job so I need to ace this test. Any ideas to help me out? Unfortunatley they dont' have publisher here so I can't even just play around with it.... helpsmilie.gif

Hey Gang!

Unless I missed something...I've been trying to see where exactly this "drama" you are all talking about that started. I too have been here from the get-go when Miss Squitto started the thread...and needed your support when I was going through my journey which ended in a denial. I have to say...sometimes this thread is always "cheery - o" and very supportive. Which is very much needed because we all have experienced that "are you nuts" looks and comments from family & friends when we tell them what we are doing. But then the JA fiance/spouse enters the US and we have a whole new journey ahead of us. Some are blissful....some are not.

But I think when people add their comments (good or bad) we need to listen to it and also take it with a grain of salt. I feel we need to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions about how they handled a certain situation(s). But by tearing down the person that may have posted something"negative" (in your opinion) doesn't mean that he/she isn't trying to help. He/she is adding his/her advice too. And if you don't like what they have to say...then don't listen. Skim over it and move on. While I am no longer on this "journey"....I still get excited about your arrivals and adjustments. We need the vets (Mindy, Squitto, Jamie, Rhonda, Jonesie & Nyseness) And we still the newbies because they keep changing the damn paperwork!!!

In the words of Rodney King......"Can't we all just get along?"

And what some of the JA men are doing these days...has little or nothing to do with them being Jamaican. It's men being men. blink.gif Gotta love em!!!

Go during your maternity leave. We're planning to go going around the middle of Feb (I know baby needs 6 weeks shots and clearance from doc, and a damn passport mad.gif) and probably staying until end of March.

Congrats again...Could you guys imagine if you have the same due date!?!?

I was thinking the same thing! I wonder if we're both having the same gender baby...

Hmmm...not sure about that one. Are there any temp agencies in your area? You could register and choose Pub as one of your lessons

I have used Publisher a few times without knowing a darn thing about it and found it pretty easy to navigate.

Good luck to you!

Wow what a weekend!

Congrats to Rhonda and Jonesie on the babies! luv.gif

Congrats to Sonshyne on getting that long awaited visa! rose.gif

I have just been working alot and finishing up my last class at Arizona State University. I will have my BA in History on May 11. Then it is my 31st birthday on May 24. My goal was to get my Ba by the time I was 30 so I made it! I still need to take my psychology statistics class in July for my 2nd BA in Anthropology. Other than that I am still waiting for a touch, RFE, or my NOA2.

Hugs to my yardie family and much heart.gif !

P.S. Put me back on that baby list cuz I know when Marlon gets here... devil.gif

Hello Yardies,

I just wanted to once again thank every single person who had something to contribute (directly or indirectly) to assist Jay and myself through this process. We started in August and after lurking for a week or so I joined VJ.com. The information and tips I found here have provided immeasurable help and I don't think we could have done it all so smoothly without you guys. We got police records from 3 countries; I got immunized from scratch; and we had our interview and visa within 4 short months! No RFE's or hitches of any kind. I panicked a few times but there was always someone with good advice to help calm my stressed out nerves.

From the bottom of my heart, thanks.

Unfortunately, I think that this forum has outlived it's phase of positiveness and helpfulness (as far as I am concerned) and is now doing more harm than good. While I won't be coming back, I will definitely update my timeline as applicable so as to help those who follow after us.

Congrats to those getting married, getting approvals and getting pregnant! To those going through difficult times - hang in there. A wise lady used to tell me while cooking our dinner on a kerosene stove in our humble little kitchen back in Jamaica "No worry me child. Only God's salvation lasts forever".

One love.

Mars.

I saw this and can't believe it! It makes me so angry and so sad at the same time. Sending prayers to the friends and families of the victims and also to everyone who has been traumatized by this. It is just so awful sad.gif
