can someone who recently went through the medical please explain what all was done?

Hope this helps

They take blood, asked all the questions on the medical history form, ask about immunization records, if he has had chicken pox make sure he tells them. they did xrays, oral exam, check the eye ..not much at all..he got there for 7:30 and he left by 11:30..and u know most of that was waiting

Of note....I forgot Andre saw a lady doctor. He was not happy when she made him stand completely naked in front of her for some of the exam.

The baby was 7lbs 10 ozs and 19 1/2 inches long and came out from 7 minutes of pushing, (the doctor threatned to cut me) that was great incentive to push. baby girl is very quiet not at all like her brother.

This gives me hope!! How long were you in labor? I'm terrified of the whole labor/delivery part of it. dead.gif

I was in labor from Sunday, but didn't know it, all I knew was that she kept moving and every time she moved i was in pain, one of my friends told me i was in labor but I'm like yeah right, anyway I went to the hospital at 6am. and she was born at 1:52pm

That was quick..with my daughter i was in labor from wednesday night and i just kept feeling this uncomfortable pain and i blew it off. Spoke to my husband that night and went to bed..girl let me tell you that bed did not see me...couldn't sit, sleep, forget walk...called my doc..she said head to the hospital, mind u i wasn't even 35 wks yet...they put me on meds to stop the labor, yeah righ tshe was ready and thats that. they gave up and i had her Friday at 11:32 am....

I don't know if all she says is true; but I have read some books on middle eastern men and I do believe some of what she said is true.

I've heard the nearly EXACT same thing said about Jamaican men. People are people and I believe each is unique and should be treated as such. You cannot believe everything you hear, nor treat anyone in particular as such unless they do something that makes you doubt them.

Her story is truly said and I feel sorry for her.

I love that they don't really bash each other. Seems whenever I am somewhere talking about a Jamaican, I end up getting bashed for having any sort of negative opinion. Hate that!

I don't think it ever hurts to heed other's warnings. May not happen to me; but I still listen. Complete stupidity not to.

I applaud their "openess" and willingness to discuss the issues that truly matter to them.

They air all their "dirty laundry" in that Forum and NOBODY ever gets bashed -- at least by their "own kind" -- it's when people come in from other Forums and start making judgements -- that it get's ugly....BUT....they seem to keep that to a minimum <<I have seen them stop replying on Threads when it gets heated>>

Cause we women are fools for love. Who doesn't want the "Pretty Woman" or "Cinderella" story? I know I do. And, there is something romantic about the foreign man. Plus, we are the ultimate optimists......we WANT to believe in the good of people. (sigh!)

There have been women on this Thread who got "burned" by a Jamaican in the past -- and went back for another one -- AND -- got burned again!! I guess sometimes you just can't help yourself.

Me -- I would take a Jamaican any day over an American. And if I had a bad experience I don't know that I can say that I wouldn't ever think about a Jamaican man again....

While they are very open and all there has been TONS of MENA conflict in the past. There used to be a lot more people that posted that don't post on VJ anymore because of all the crap that used to happen in that forum. I remember a while back when a huge group of them left and started a yahoo group. You can tell because in the "Our Journey is over" thread you can see that some people came back and created new VJ names just to post to Jackie because of her situation.

I agree that it happens everywhere and in all cultures. I love how one of them said "men are men are men" and the lion analogy was spot on.

Very interesting discussion.

The only thing I can say about these kinds of discussions is that there are lessons to be learned. I don't mind a heated discussion as long as no one really starts to bash another. Some people get all upset as soon as anything negative is said and leave the thread or even the board. Those people, I always think, are fools.

Not bashing you, B. Nor anyone else on here. Just a general statement. I didn't really have anyone in particular in mind.

You know what I mean, though. There are people on a few forums I am on who I picture literally stomp out of the room when something negative is said. If it is taken personal by then, then they made it so. Then, they need to look hard at their own mindset and relationship(s). I read all this stuff and it just floats right on by me. Do I learn things to look for? Of course, I do. Do I see them? No. But, it never hurts to have information. It may not benefit me;but maybe one day, I can pass it on to another. I just don't see the point of burying my head in the sand.

Question....why can't they just give the visa at the appointment? What is the purpose of sending it via courier? Any words?
Hotlegz
i agree completely, what's the purpose if u cannot make a honest remark (w/o) bashing and it just be left at that. Instead things get personal and goes down hill from. I agree Jomo these r all lessons to be learned. Never u think that ur untouchable and things WILL always go right with u. We r all human and should be treated as such.

I also read that thread and was like wow ! I totally agree with most what was posted I had co-workers that were just like that, they flirt with every woman on earth. But, guess who they walk down the street with...their own. So, everyones experience is different and not all people are the same even if they come from the same culture. I know alot of Jamaican woman who will not date their own and visa versa. It is what it is. LIFE !

They have to put a special item in their passport. My husband has his stamp in there with his picture a big number and it says CR1 visa and how long it is good for. So this is why it takes a little while. They have to print it on your SO passport.

NOPE because "I" am not paying for it and he won't buck up the money. I have done my part and have had the loads of paperwork filled out for forever. I'm not worried and don't care anymore, because at this point....if we do go through it and he gets denied, whatever....say la ve....if he were to get approved, we'll most likely be heading for divorce. Everyday is something different. One day great, 2 days horrible. It goes back and forth. Worse than the stock market. I have to go through most of this laughing cause if I didn't.....shoot, I would have LOST IT a looooooong time ago.

I just live my life the best way I can and know how to. My son, thankfully, hasn't been home much this summer staying at my parents and friends and then is off to the Outer Banks tonight for 8 days with another friend. So there's MUCH needed alone time.....for me, at least and "I" am absolutely loving it !!! Cause being a single parent (all of my sons life) "I" never ever ever get down and/or alone time.

I have friends coming in this weekend and I'm very much looking forward to it....hitting the Reggae Wine Festival tomorrow, Jahworks (reggae band) tomorrow night and Artscape on Sunday. The weather is going to be gorgeous !!!Craig said he's not going..........whatever, don't care. He can wallow away in his own misery, I don't let his negative crap get to me ever !!! Neither will my friends no0pb.gif

So, so far.....that I know, we are the only ones to have waited this long on the Yardie thread. I've done a TON of research on the VJ site and since there's "no deadline"......??

Have a GREAT weekend everyone !!!

I'll get more information about it from my dad, but I remember him telling me that you can bring the unit to the US and use it here. When I get more info, I will let you know. There was another service that I found, but they are out of Canada, but they would ship it to you. They had an ad banner on Jamaica Gleaner - it's called Foreign Phone (http://www.foreignphone.com/faq.aspx).

He was not happy when she made him stand completely naked in front of her for some of the exam.

this happened to mr. jengles. i was cracking up when he told me, he said she pushed back his foreskin

I thought that at 35 weeks, they would just let nature take its course.

That sounds like me, LOL I was up sunday night all night and then in the hospital monday morning, I'm like give me an epidural so I can sleep because you (meaning the doctors are going to want me to push later)

when i got to the hospital they said i was 5 centimeters and apparently my contractions weren't coming quick enough for them so they gave me some drug that starts with a P to make my contractions come quicker, I'll stop at this point with respect to all the first time mothers.

don't worry Rhonda - there is nothing to worry about

I couldn't agree with you more Jomo. I read the comments made by about 3 women after she posted that and they were like Man I'm thinking about getting a divorce. My thought is: If you are contemplating getting a divorce based on what someone posted then you are the one who has missed it. You have to ask yourself whether or not you are really in love. LOVE is never UNSURE. For someone to seriously consider getting a divorce based on a thread, maybe there was never really LOVE at home. Marriage to me and my fiance is something that is really sacred and its going to take more than a thread to make us divorce. I believe thats why the divorce rates are so high. People's first instinct when they're married and things are going well is to DIVORCE. But marriage is about sacrafices and compromises. If you are not willing to subject yourself to that then you may want to rethink your position before you get into it. (Generally speaking, No one in particular).

If a person really believes deep down in their heart that their significant other is just using them for a green card and the love is not really there, then it may be a situation that is just not for the best. And its okay to admit that. I think we get wrapped up into the fairy tale thinking and miss the reality of it all. I personally believe that you have to see some benefits and rewards out of decision to make it most worth while and fulfilling.

I told my mom that he is filing for a visiting visa and he has a hook up down there. I think I am going tell her eventually but we didn't want the stereotypes placed on us and the big hoopla until we were able to do how we want it. In Jamaica! So we are going to do something small and then later go ahead and do our real wedding down there. I have a lot of family there and all of his family is there as well. Lets hope things work out.

Well when I first filed I had to tell my mom because she didn't understand why he couldn't just come here as easy as I could go to JA. A lot of my friend has said the same thing. A lot of people just don't know how HARD it is to come to the US. They believe people come and go just as easy as we do. I did however tell my mom that his interview date is August 14...I forgot to mention that I would be going to the interview. unsure.gif You know I know that my mom would be 100% supportive..I just don't want the stress of her concerns on why the process is taking sooo long. I've been with my fiance for 5 1/2 years and been engaged forever. blush.gif So I know she would want us to finally be together....especially to start giving her more grandchildren. blink.gif

i'm kind of in the same situation, i didn't want to tell my parents/family because i know the overall sentiment would be i'm making a mistake or being used, but i couldn't hide that he was living with me so they think he's here visiting and i've told them we plan to get married next year in ja (which we do) but of course we're already married.

I agree, that love is a gamble...to ever experience love you just have to play. I thought it was nice that there was no bashing, that everyone tried to, or it seemed that they were putting them selves in her shoes. I don't think they are really considering a divorce based on the posters post. Only realizing that the situation could possibly happen to them. The lady who posted that her husband would have a rude awaking at the airport...I couldn't stop laughing it thought it was so funny laughing.gif

I don't think anything about love is for sure, nothing about life is for sure for that matter, This process is full of uncertainty. This woman "loved" this man..but it didn't stop her from getting her heart broken. I'm greatfull that it sound like maybe she'll be abe to pick up her life and go on. Hopefully she will realize that love that is "certain" can only come from the man above blush.gif

Packet 3 states to bring 6 color, matte finish, 2 inch square, on white or off-white background photographs. For the police report I've read somewhere that 2 are required. For the medical 4 passport style photos are needed. Donna went last week and had 12 passport photos made for all this.

hello everyone,

I had the baby on Monday and hubby passed his interview yesterday, he said the officer told him out of 45 people so far for the morning, he was the only one who got a visa. I'm still waiting to hear all the details so I can pass it along.

Thanks to and for all the VJers, who posted info and answered questions, I'm sure without VJ and that very important binder he would not have passed.

Another congratulations on your husbands visa!! What an exciting time for your family!

I just wanted to share that I've gotten through to the immigration dept of the embassy using (702) 6174, 6168 and 6304 in addition to the 6008 good.gif

And for those who use calling cards try the western union it gives ~8 cents a minute to land lines and ~32 cents a minute for cells. You can recharge it over the phone.

but the Jus Talk from C&W gives 5 cents a minute and you can use it to call Ja from here or they can use it to call here from Ja. Your SO can recharge this card in Ja

The sprint card from CVS is good but you have to make sure to buy the international card. It gives 16 cents a min to both land lines and cells. You can rechard this over the phone too but if you do it in the store you get 10% free.

None of these cards steal your minutes. If you use 5 minutes it takes 5 minutes not 30 no0pb.gif

Good luck!

ohh I forgot my question

I know everyone can hear the question the CO is asking during the interview but does everyone hear all your responses too? Or is it more discrete?

Thanks in advance
