It is okay hotel!! To get there in the nights and down to the hip strip is a hassle my husband would not recommend that anyone stay there. He says in terms of getting around it is a bit difficult.


Have your man take care of the medical. My husban wanted to abied by the rules on the paper so he did and he was fine. Let your men make their gut descion and they should be fine.

We have the best father in the world so we are thinking about a gift and making him dinner this afternoon.

belwin, did anyone in dwain's family try to get one? i'm hoping his mom can show strong enough ties to jamaica. she's got money in the bank, a nice house, and a thriving business.



we celebrated father's day yesterday since my youngest sister has to work today. we took him out to dinner and got him stuff we knew he'd like. mom got him a plasma tv and i bought him movie bucks. i'm going back to my parents house after i put the wash out on the line.

Can anyone recommend a car rental place in Mobay that has lower rates? I might need a car for about three weeks around next Feb. and $50.00 a day is not fitting in my existing budget

A friend of mine got married and she applied for her mom and her aunt to come to the wedding. Well the mom got approved but not the aunt. I personally think it's worth the shot, it's only a $100 for the interview plus whatever documents you have to show. It's worth a try. Just my opinion.

I agree its worth it to try..u never know...sometimes ppl with alot of ties get turned down and the ppl with not enough according to the embassy does...so i say go for it...

Well I rented a car from Apex car rental that is about 5 mins from the airport in montego bay. We just so happened to use them because they were at the airport soliciting for customers to go with their business. They weren't necessarily so much cheaper but they were pretty easy going on cutting a deal. You may want to call them to work something out.
I'm not sure that you will find something a lot cheaper that is company owned. You may also want to considering renting from a friend for the time being. Most of them use their car for taxi runs but are willing to give a daily rate for using their car. This is pretty good because you don't have to pay a deposit down. We also did this on one of my trips to JA. Hope this is helpful. Good luck with everything!

Thats a another option but be aware of who ur renting from. Sometimes they DO NOT have insurance on the car and if ur pulled over God forbid, ur the one driving an uninsured vehicle. It happened to a friend of mine...what u could do...is see if somehow u can befriend a taxi guy and have him come pick u up when u need to go places. This I do, we get to know each other and he starts giving u a discount. I use the same taxi guy everytime I go..have his number stored in my phone...just another option

Dwain's mom owns her own house and she has tried 3 times since we have been together and been denied each time. She is a bit frustrated with the whole thing and will never go back. It is worth a try I just haven't heard of many people having good luck. The only time I have seen my friends get visas if they were attending college or University.

that's the route i usually go too. i'm not confident enough to drive on my own, and i really don't want the liability of driving a car that's not mine. so one day i took a route taxi to go grocery shopping and he ended up taking me to tour rose hall great house and to his house in flankers to meet his entire family. that was almost 2 years ago. now his wife and i are great friends.

my fiance's mom feels pretty confident about applying for the travel visa. so when the time comes we'll just hope for the best.

My friend Jackie (a VJ vet from a long time ago) and her hubby tried to get his brother here for their wedding. He is actually here in Michigan THIS week visiting. He JUST got his visitors Visa - their THREE year wedding anniversary is this August He didn't quite make it in time for the wedding!!

We had a really good weekend. Tony cooked me ackee & saltfish (The ackee was $14 for a can). I've been craving it sooooo bad and the tinned ackee tasted better than I remember it being - maybe because I haven't had it in so long! Then on Sunday he cooked us some nice Jamaican beef soup - yam, carrot, cho-cho, pumpkin, Cock Soup, dumpling - Yummy!! I guess he knows how to butter me up after a fight Just feed me!!

That's sweet. A man that cooks for me can get almost anything! I'm glad that things are less tense.

I think it just depends on the CO. Like Kimmykashi said before some w/strong ties get denied and some w/out get thru. My cousin just reached NY last week and he hasn't work for years. He was a soldier for yrs so one day he applied and recv'd it. Since then he travels back and forth from England, JA and the US and hasn't work since and it's been almost 10 yrs.

Suprisingly, I am cool. I'm trying not to think about it too much. Tonight I'll probably feel nervous. I'm glad that the interviews are early tomorrow so we should be knowing something by 11 at the latest. My SO's auntie is gonna wait for him outside with his phone so he can call me as soon as he gets out.

I think I'm also in a state of denial about it....like I can't really believe after waiting for so long that the time is finally come...it just hasn't quite hit me yet and may not til the interview is over.

So some info...just called and scheduled my husbands medical for Tangerine Place..the medical itself is $80 US..and for other shots they gave me a price $9000 JA additional..I was like wow...but gotta do what I gotta do..huh...

Hope I don't annoy anyone with these postings...I have gotten such great stuff from here and find it invaluable! Just wanted to share...

So they offset the medical fee with the shot fee...they win either way..think they slick...

I just got off the phone with the embassy, YOU CAN GET YOUR LOCAL DOCTOR TO ADMINISTER SHOTS, all they have to do is bring proof to the medical interview.

So, i am having an issue..my mother-in-law who left Ja when my husband was 11yrs old..She went back 4 yrs ago bury my brother-in-law...now with him coming she keeps saying how she hopes he doen't come and distance himself from her, as if he doesn't have a family..it is really ticking me off. I mean we get along fine except when she starts talking crap. What do u guys think ? She keeps talking of scenarios w/o out me in it...u think she doen't this purposely or unconsciously...it irritates me...

It's her guilt talking....because now he's coming thru u, and he might feel resentful towards her for not sending for him a long time ago.

Yea I agree. You mention she went down 4 yrs ago. Do you know why she hasn't been back? That could play a big part in that as well.
