What's wrong with "Pretty Woman"? The first time Andre saw it, just about a month ago, he loved it.

The place where we live right now is THE BEST for cable. We get every single channel I can imagine, including On Demand, for $35 a month. Our landlord pays for it and divides it by the 4 apartments. I will be spoiled once we move. We'll never be able to afford all of it again.

I have AT&T. I get my DSL, phone, & Dish all on one bill and I get a discount b/c of my phone and internet service.

My fiance know too many people in Negril. We always end up meeting up with some of his friends there. He wants us to be alone..away from family and friends. So, I'm thinking Mobay or Runaway Bay or Ocho Rios area. I've stayed at Rose Hall Resort in Rose Hall (near Mo bay) and it was nice..but they are going through construction over the summer and ZERO rooms are available for my time period.

I have cable now but I'm considering satellite because it seems to offer more channels for the same that I'm paying now. I'm not going to change anything until my fiance gets here, so I'll have to see what's available at that time. I'll definitely have to have something, he watches plenty of TV. I hardly watch TV, so it doesn't matter to me.

kimmy, my fiance did his medical at Tangerine Place. I'm really nervous about the interview, keep trying to think of anything that I may have missed as far as documentation. I'm not going to be happy again until I get the phone call from him afterward.

Hubby is thinking of the $ that will provide a better life for you and the baby, and he figures that if you two made it thru immigration being in diff. countries, then him being a few states away should be a breeze. I know you don't agree with it (and if I were in your shoes I wouldn't either) but if he is set on it then sit down with him and work out a plan that includes some compromising

Port Antonio is gorgeous...cannot wait to go back when we go to JA. And hands down Boston Bay has some of the best jerk I've had in Jamaica. San San is a nice local beach, and there are reasonable hotel rates in the area.

July 13th-16th...just for a weekend

Club Ambience in Runnaway Bay was really nice and reasonable for all inclusive. But Runnaway Bay is not near anything. There is a strip club across the street with one stripper . Girl she would never make it in Atlanta evry man in the club was sleep. . It only cost us $10 us to go to Ochi and if you are real adventurous you clould ride the public bus and fear for your life.

Hi everyone! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing...I'm actually preparing to leave for JA to visit my baby on Sunday...I'll be down there for a month!! I can't wait to see him!! Whenever my fiance and I wanted to get away from family and friends we would go to MoBay and stay at Toby's Resort...it's pretty cool...decent, clean, safe, quiet, decent food, and cable channels...I enjoyed staying there each time I went (and the staff are nice too)...In Ochi, my friends and I stayed at the Crane Ridge Resort once (back in Oct '05)...it was nice, plus it has a kitchenette, nice pool and pool bar (but you have to keep bugging the staff about towels)...other than that, it was cool too....

been to a few of the clubs in Negril and one thing I can say is that the owners were definitely equal opportunity employers every body type, age, nationality, etc. you could think of was in there. The music was good but since I don't swing that way I was bored...extremely bored.

Could he try to get another job near you guys. Dwain has considered driving a truck from Lowes. Which is 12 hours a day and makes more money than me with a masters degree in teaching. There also companies where you drive the whole week and then get the weekends off and he would still be close to home. My cousin is a truck driver and makes some real good cash and never can spend it cause he is on the road all the time.

Hey There Old Timers!!! Hi there Newbies!!!

Ah wah gwaan!!??? Hey Rhonda, Kelly, Jonesie, Jamie, BellwinMills, Mindy!!! Where's MsSquito?? It has been so long, I forgot my password! Just popping in to say hi; I can't keep up anymore with daily or even weekly forum activity, but I do think of you all often. Very often.

I was in JA last week - only a 6 day trip. It rained A LOT, and I nearly lost all internal organs on those Portland to Ochee roads, but it was still a nice trip. I was very cranky to see all the trees laden with GREEN mangoes! HMMPFF! I did manage to pay some highway robbers $150JA each for some Julie mangoes. Got some naseberry and of course my coconut jelly. Some apples (cashews to the Guyanese) and soursop too. Saw some guavas but they looked huge and wierd so I did not eat them.

For those of you who remember us, Henry and I are doing well. He is still working at the hospital and working a lot of overtime; only taking one class this semester. We are trying to save as much as we can.

We looked into buying a little house in JA, but the thought of two mortgages was darn scary and the max loan to a US citizen is 70% and to a JA citizen who is resident overseas is 80% so you need a healthy downpayment. We decided to buy an acre of land and build a house the way Anna's parents did-- one section at a time. (Hey Anna!!! How's life in Chitown!??)

The question now is where - so we spent a week driving all around. Henry is from St. Thomas, but I am not feeling it (sorry St. Thomas folks). I really want to be over in Hanover. I just love all the history and feel of that parish and I hope we can get something in or just outside Lucea or Green Island before the prices go TOTALLY nuts...as they have begun climbing with all the recent resort and subdivision developments.

Anywho, that's about all I have for an update. If anyone else is buying or building at this time or did in the past, I would love to hear from you.

No - no GM plants down there. It's very difficult to transfer too even if there was. Also, I need to be near my doctor - the appointments are just going to get more frequent as I get further along. I've been with the same doc for over 10 years. Since I'm slightly high risk, I need someone who knows my history to keep an eye on me.


I'm really starting to think he just doesn't love me or care about me anymore

He says he's going to take a month off when the baby is born, but how's he going to know exactly when I'm going to go into labor??? He's such as a**hole The "D" word came up today more than once. We had another HUGE fight over the phone.

There's just no advice I have to give about this, apart from talk it through and do your utmost best to show him how much this means to you
I can definitely understand him wanting to make a lot of money for the baby, and if this is his first real chance to make a lot, I can see him perhaps seeing this as his chance to equal your salary and maybe thinking you want to be the major money earner in the house.
All I can say is try and make him see that having him close to you means far more than money and to your family unit. And the best start he could possibly give to his child is supporting you emotionally.

My heart goes out to you, with my first pregnancy I had a lot of problems to deal with regarding his father and it was a living nightmare, wouldn't wish the stress on anyone.

Praying you two reach a resolution.

I read somewhere that they can ask for the originals at any time. But that might have meant at the service center before it gets to NVC. I just sent it anyway, just in case.

Oh Rhonda, I'm really sorry that this is happening and making you so miserable while you're pregnant. Please try not to stress too much, although that sounds ludicrous. Let him know that the stress is not good for the baby. I don't know of any other advice, except what Jonesie said. Maybe the two of you need to find a compromise.

he will be working at toy's r 'us unloading the trucks...restocking the shelves....all that fun stuff....mike said the guy pretty much just looked at how tall he was and said yup your are hired he said the guy was very interested in what he did with the sting rays and they were talking about JA cause he had just come back...so i think it will be a great job for him!!

US Embassy warns against fraudulent visa appointments

The United States Embassy in St. Andrew says it is investigating the attempted manipulation of its online non-immigrant visa appointment system.

In a statement yesterday, the embassy said it was also warning the Jamaican public to avoid dealing with persons offering to procure early visa appointments.

"All applicants for U.S. visitor visas are required to give their full name, passport number and Paymaster receipt number to reserve a visa appointment," the embassy said. "A growing number of appointments made on the embassy's online system contain fictitious information and have been made simply to hold a place in our interview schedule."

Fictitious appointments

The embassy added: "These fictitious appointments cause problems for everyone, especially by adding to the waiting time for legitimate travellers from Jamaica to secure a timely appointment."

The embassy said persons found to be tampering with the appointment database and/or filing fraudulent appointments will be reported to the Jamaican authorities for possible criminal prosecution.

Also, according to the statement, persons entering the U.S. Embassy with falsified appointment letters will be denied visas and may be subject to permanent visa ineligibility.

All applicants or honest, reliable persons acting on their behalf should schedule visa appointments online at: https://evisaforms.state.gov/default. asp?postcode=KNG&appcode=3

This is an electronic calendar that will show available dates and times.

Applicants should avoid people or businesses that claim to be able to schedule expedited appointments. There is no charge for scheduling visa interview appointments (including emergency appointments) on the embassy's electronic calendar.

If you believe that a travel agent or individual is providing questionable services, please inform the embassy at kingstonvisas@state.gov so that we can act to prevent other applicants from being charged high fees for fraudulent services.

The embassy is also urging applicants who change their appointments to remember to delete their previous dates to allow the other slots to be made available for other applicants.

Any individual who reserves more than one date at the same time invites having one or both of the appointments deleted.

Is it necessary to set an appointment date here, https://evisaforms.state.gov? The DS-230 part 1 was sent in to the embassy. I thought after they received the DS-230 an appointment would be set up? Do I need to fill out the DS-156 now and get an appointment or wait and get an appointment when I call the embassy?

Hubby told me last night about the visa fraud going on down there, it was announced over the radio. he told me it cost $180K JA to get a visa, because everyone from security to the interviewing officer has to get their cut.

Hopefully, this will speed up the process for people who are waiting patiently to get legitimate appointments.

Ending my journey

I want to say a big thank you to all of you guys and I wish you all the success and happiness in your relationships, I apologise for sullying up the joyfulnes of the board.

I would just like to say that I'm ending my Visa Journey, I don't think my fiance is ready for marriage, we have gone through a lot and I have tolerated a lot to get to this point, I have finally decided that it makes no sense to continue to relationship anymore and I'm officially ending my Journey. Thanks for all you answers and personal messages.
