Girl, I can imagine how you must feel w/the interview coming up shortly. Every since my case has been sent to NVC I've been having dreams regarding the changes and I'm getting scared. Try not to think about it and take a deep breath. I know it's easier said then done but girl, worrying won't do anything but make it worse. blush.gif

I pumped with my son and stopped at 6 months then he promptly developed ezcema due to being alergic to oatmeal cereal. both his fathe and myself have asthma and he's never had an astham attack. Wtih this child I sill also pump but will try and do it for a year.

When I told my husband I was going to breastfeed he didn't even give me a chance to explain. He went through the roof. I had to explain pumping to him and let him know pumping will give him a chance to feed her also. Now he likes the idea.

Wow, that suprises me!!
Why was he mad???
I had a HUGE argument with mine because I breastfed my son until he was 18 months and wanted to breastfeed this one until he's a year.
He was saying six months was long enough, because it 'just wasn't right' to feed him longer.
We've compromised on nine months, but I'm still kinda pissed that it bothers him that I'm giving his child the best possible start.
I expressed milk with my son and will express for this one, want my son and of course my fiance to be able to bond with him by feeding.

he thought i wasn't going to breastfeed at all, he kept on saying but its important for the baby. He didn't even know what formula was.

Just curious, what does breast-feeding have to do with never being sick?? I never breast fed my son and knock on wood, the last time he was actually sick was about 4 yrs ago. He never ever gets sick, has white straight teeth (takes after my side of the family). He had his adenoids/tonsils out when he was 5 but other than that??

I've been doing some research on this myself for obvious reasons blush.gif

Breastfeeding protects your baby from gastrointestinal trouble, respiratory problems, and ear infections
• Breastfeeding can protect your baby from developing allergies.
• Breastfeeding may boost your child's intelligence
• Breastfeeding may protect against obesity later in life
• Breastfeeding may protect your baby from childhood leukemia
• Breastfeeding may protect your baby from developing type 1 diabetes
• Breastfeeding may protect preemies from infections and high blood pressure later in life
• Breastfeeding may lower your baby's risk of SIDS

Wow! I totally want kids but thinking about breastfeeding and pumping blows my mind!!! I'll be sure to get some advice from you ladies when the time comes. I don't want kids until Marlon is working and we are more financially settled.

Here's a question for the moms: were your children planned or miracle surprises after the K1/K3/CR1 visa process?

jlvr, we're all rooting for you! i bet you won't be getting much sleep for a while. but at least your visa journey has reached it's peak. i thought i was losing my mind waiting for the noa2, things are much worse for me now! i just wanna hurry up and get it over with.

so i tried calling the embassy today. you know how you can only call between the hours of 1:30-3:30 on mondays and fridays...

well i started calling at 2:00 jamaica time and tried about 20 times and kept getting the busy signal. when i finally get through, i follow all the prompts and right when i'm supposed to get connected to an operator, i hear a loud beep and the following message:
"i'm sorry, your call cannot be completed at this time. goodbye" and click!

AHHHH! wacko.gif I'M SO FRUSTRATED!

i'll try again on monday.

the one bit of good news is that i've got a summer job lined up. i interview on monday!
kkholiday2006
So I think I'll be going the courier route to send in the DS 230 to the US Embassy. It seems like we have a chance to get an appointment ASAP. Like you FutureMrs I'm hoping for a July interview...and he'll be here as soon as he pick up the visa from airpack. Hell...he'll be ready to pick up and go to the airport. Okay, I'm being silly...LOL. jest.gif biggrin.gif

Definitely a suprise.....
I was really worried about how his parents were going to react, being that they knew we were seeing one another, but had no idea we were planning to get married, let alone get married within a few months AND have a baby!!
But when he told them, they were over the moon, his mother wanted to know whether we could get married SOONER!

Are the tins of ackee any good? Dwain said they aren't great.

They aren't hugely different from the real thing.....And definitely worth getting when you have NO prospect of getting REALL ackee!

Yea I don't think there is a big diffence either. It taste more like the butter ackee vs the cheese but I LOVE both. My grandmother have both trees in the yard (ground). Here in Chicago it varies from $11.99-15.99 depending on the store.

O.K. Thanks smile.gif. What do you guys use for salt fish? Cod???
BelwinMills
My dad lent us his car for the summer. So Dwain is very happy he can go visit his best man when I am at work. He is a teacher and off for the summer. He is happy to have someone to play video games with. He was all smile to see his friends yesterday from Elmhurst college. Then we ate at IHOP before going home. Things are going wonderful. We are looking at cars to buy when school starts. Right now he is calling all his friends back home to tell him dad lent him a car whistling.gif . Having a supportive family helps. Mom and dad helped us do our wedding invitations for our USA wedding. We have 300 people invited and the big bought for roasting. We need to order tents in case it rains. The wedding in Jamaica was 10 times easier. How did everyones weekend go?

Ours was planned. I went off the Pill shortly before our 2 yr. wedding anniversary.

I have a question for the moms and moms to be: Did you drink at all during your pregnancy? Is it really ok to have ONE glass of wine or ONE drink occasionally? I have 1 more week and then I'll be into my 2nd trimester. I'm wondering if I might be able to have a drink in JA while we're on our vacation..... unsure.gif

i've actually had to do some research on this topic lately. i adopted my little boy out of foster care and we've had a lot of problems lately. he was just diagnosed with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and has brain damage as a result of it. he's a very handsome fella and he didn't have the obvious facial deformities and mental retardation which is why it went unnoticed for so long. he had subtle indicators like crooked fingers & toes, a flat philtrum, and a flat nasal bridge. everything i've read and heard about alcohol & pregnancy says that there is NO safe amount of alcohol because every fetus tolerates it differently. fetal alcohol syndrome can range from mild to severe, and alcohol exposure during different stages can cause varying effects. my son's doctor gave me a book about FAS and it said that FAS is starting to become prevalent in the upper-class population because doctors have told their pregnant patients that a little alcohol won't hurt the baby before conclusive research has been performed.

rhonda, i do know that the more a pregnant woman drinks, the higher the risk. i know other women who have had just one glass of wine during pregnancy and their children have turned out fine. please just be very careful. study up on what exactly what stage of development your baby is in during the time that you're in jamaica. alcohol affects whatever is developing at the time. there are children with FAS who don't have any facial deformities because there was no exposure during the time of facial development.

here's a website you can peruse if you're interested.

I didn't drink during either pregnancy, I heard the medical advice saying that the occasional drink should be ok, but decided just wasn't worth ANY risk.
I'm not a big drinker at all, so wasn't much of a difference anyway.

Cod???

We use salt fish. Get it at the same international grocery store we get nearly everything else at.

Appleton and coke has been my best friend lately to get through these sleepless nights.............june 19th can't come soon enuff. What time is your interview again? ours is at 7:15am...

Damn, I can't remember. 7:30? 8? Something like that. I might be wrong, it might be 12 or 12:30. I'll ask when I speak to him later. I keep wondering if I gave him enough stuff, if all of the paperwork is in order, and worst of all, worrying that he'll be denied for some reason. I don't know what I would do. sad.gif

I called and talked to somebody. Marlon is using the courier to send in his packet 3 info.

futuremrs, you might want to hold off on the courier service. i just used the number that jengles provided. i got an appointment for my fiance to drop off the ds-230 next week. she told me not to use the courier service and i was really surprised that we got an appointment so quick. she said that he'll probably end up with an august interview date. i'm praying that it'll be within the first 2 weeks so that i can still go with him.

here's what we're going to do:
1. fiance goes to embassy next week to drop off ds-230 and pick up packet (it contains the medical info too)
2. i will start calling in about a week to see if an interview date is set
3. fiance will go back to the embassy to pick up the interview letter (since we don't want to wait on the mail and we must have the letter in order to get into the embassy for the actual interview)

I also called the embassy today. The lady told me as soon as they get the DS-230 we will get an interview date. She also mentioned that it would be in August. We are still going to have a courier take the part 1 to the embassy tomorrow. She told me that the packet was mailed out today to Donna. They received 6 packets today.

Doh! lol I just called Marlon and he sent the DS-230 part 1, the bio page of his passport, and a copy of our NOA2 via UPS 30 minutes ago! I did tell him to call the embassy to see if he could pick up packet 3 but I figure it will be mailed to him anyway. If there won't be an interview until August then there is no real rush! lol I am sending him some money soon for the No Impediment to Marriage form and for his medical.
