Has anyone heard of these new phones or phone cards (I am unclear on which it is exactly) floating around Jamaica? Two of Andre's friends and his mother called us over the weekend harping about these phones (maybe phone cards?) they pay $1,000JA a month for and they can make unlimited phone calls EVER international LD phone calls. Since they called us and chatted forever (something they never do), I am guessing they aren't lying.

Ask your S/O's to ask around about these. Wish I had had the opportunity when I needed it.

Its called MegaPhone and its been around for a minute, but they sell like hotcakes and are sometimes hard to get.

Hello All! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I was reading that the fees increase goes into effect on July 30. I know that some of the vets are going to be applying to remove conditions soon and just wanted to give them a heads up that if they can file before then to do it because the fee goes from $275 to $545 helpsmilie.gif So if you can get it in before July 30 that would be a good break for you. That goes for all the other processes and forms as well. If you are going to be filing soon get them in before July 30 yes.gif

No use stressing and worrying about the cost of everything as you HAVE to pay it but if you can get it in at the lower price why not? good.gif

Fee Increase

Oh great! and my wedding is 3 weeks after this! There are always trials and tribulations in our relationship. I guess we're gonna have to turn this one into another testimony. kicking.gif

I have a question - are your husbands or wives Seventh Day Adventist? or raised in a Seventh Day Adventist church?

No, I'm sorry...knew ppl that were

Just wondering. Damien's mother said most Christians in Jamicans are raised in Seventh Day Adventist church.

I wore jewerly to church and everyone looked at me like I was an alien.

There are many rules at churches in Jamaica. Like at my SO's church which is Assembly of God.....the women have to keep their hair covered when in church and they cannot speak or lead the sermons on church. You can wear hats or scarves or what not, just something on the head. Its also very quiet in church.....something I am not at all used to. I go to a jump and jive church and his is in no way like this. I have a lot of stuff to get used to when it comes to being this mans wife.

Man, I wish they would have had something like that when Tony was still in JA and we were talking 6 times a day EVERY day yes.gif

no0pb.gif laughing.gif They're cornrows silly!! LMAO at cornrolls laughing.gif We had the same problem when Tony came here. All the salons/hair places were charging a fortune to braid - and he's used to getting it done EVERY week! So we spent a small fortune to get them done for our wedding then he had me shave his entire head ohmy.gif It actually looked good bald!! He was telling everyone he pissed me off so I shaved his head in his sleep! devil.gif It's all grown back now and we found a friend of a friend who braids on the side - she just does it at her house. We've actually found a few of those around - start asking around now, it may take awhile. I think he pays $20 - which is still high considering in JA he only had to pay $5!!

I have a question.... I am wondering if I have a confidential wedding will it make a difference when I go to AOS?? Will they see it as a problem because it isn't public record?? I only plan to keep it that way until we have a religious wedding which will be in October.

Although you can have a small private ceremony- you have to get a marriage license and have it publicly recorded after the ceremony in order for the marriage to be valid.

Thanks

I pay $45 (wash, press, & braid) every 10 days for my daughter b/c she has coarse hair. Most shops by my house charge $35/40 for children & $55 for adults. For men I think it's cheaper. Try the local hair salons or African Braiding shops.

It depends. I will always say go to the interview if possible but if you can't make sure he is well prepared. Will he have sufficient proof of relationship? As of matter of fact, looking at your timeline you guys have been together for a while. Send him pictures, emails (if applicable), letters and/or cards, phone bills, etc. Any and everything!!!!

Yes we def have alot if proof...he has pics of me from I was 15yrs blush.gif ..He has our wedding album, pics from out vacations, letters cards, money transfer receipts, I just don't want us rescheduling make a terrible impact on the process...its been a month now and no new date yet..but i'm still patiently waiting kicking.gif mad.gif devil.gif

I don't think anyone knows for sure when the fee increases will go into effect. It will post on the USCIS website. Just try to submit your petition as soon as you can.

USCIS.gov announced that the new fees go into effect July 30, 2007

Congrats on all the new approvals!!! One more step ahead in the immigration game of life kicking.gif

Thanks Jamie. I was checking that out this morning as well. I spoke to Javon b/c we are going to file for my step-son but w/the fees going up I was thinking of doing it now instead of later. Javon said we should wait b/c it's hard as it is much less filing for 2 ppl at once. blush.gif For right now I agree but we'll see.

I know what ur saying..we have 3 kids to file for...can u say $$$$$$...it took us some time to actually say let us wait to take them, get ourselves together..

My friend filed for 3 of her children left in JA. She just recv'd the IV bill for $1140. I feel so bad for her b/c she just came back from JA and spent over $8000 for her trip. She hasn't been back home for 10 yrs so it was a big deal!!

I wonder w/the fee increase if the workload will be easier to manage? Is the approval process going to be faster?

Wow, that is alot of money can imagine what it will be when we do take them blink.gif I really hope the process is much shorter with all this money..

Know I need to go look up places for him to get his hair done. I have no clue about braid cornrolls. We have talked about the shaving thing. We will see what he does with that. Maybe we should invest in a razor. hmmm

no0pb.gif laughing.gif They're cornrows silly!!

Yeah, I know most guys get their hair braided on the porch of somebodys house! Its way too expensive to get it done in the shop all the time unless you got a hook up in it. $20 is about the going rate to get a sista to hook his head up.

20th of July kicking.gif kicking.gif
Had my tickets booked for a good 3-4 weeks whistling.gif
Just checked the prices for July, they've gone up by DOUBLE!!
SO glad I booked early!

It's weird though, I feel kinda empty, like there's forms I should be filling in lol....For the past 4 months (NOT complaining about the time!) every single day has been spent doing SOMETHING concerning the visa process....So weird to have nothing to worry about!!
