Hey Michele you're welcome to stay here....we have plenty of room !!! We go to DC (on the train) to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day...will mostly likely be Sunday, August 5th. It's alot of fun !! Here was what was happening at last years...
INDEPENDENCE SUNDAY MARKET (an all-day jamaican festival - August 6, 1pm)
@ Gardens of the Orgnaization of American States - FREE; live music by Kymani Marley, Skatalites, Bare Essentials, Lovindeer, Image Band, DJ Romeo, Sprang International, Emcee Jerry D. Jamaican food, arts and crafts on sale.

The year before they had ALL food and drinks for free, last year you had to pay for everything and the food wasn't as good as the year before !

If anyone in our area knows of any other ones....please post them.

Jill, sorry to hear 'bout your little one.....I know exactly how you feel ! We had to put a kitten down 3 yrs ago (2 days before my bday) because he went into kidney failure. It was absolutely horrible.

Ok so I called the medical center in Mo'Bay. The shots can run him up to $7000JA and can be given the same day and then on top of that the medical is US$95. as listed in the previous posts. so thats not to bad.

My husband is a little upset right now because he went to visit a friend in the hospital and the transport authority towed his car and accused him of running taxi on the wrong route. It's his car he barely drives it. he went to the hospital and saw some other friends visiting and offered to take them home. So now he has to pay $7000JA for towing the car and wanted to give him a $9000JA ticket. I told him to go to court and fight the ticket, because its his car and can prove he work elsewhere. He said the told him if it was sunday, it would have been ok. and how they know the car, if u know the car, then don't u know the driver??

so anyway now the transport authority is willing to drop the $9000Ja ticket if he gives them $3000JA.

Questionsss...For the appointment to pick up packet 3, is there a fee for this appointment? My fiance thinks that they is a fee for the interview. Like when we give them the DS 230 for K-1 will he have to pay a fee at that time. Also, will there be a fee for the actual interview? I know there is a fee for the medical. And normally when you apply for a NIV you have to pay like $100 dollars.

Oh my gosh my hubby says we can't find out until the day we have a kid. He researched my illness online and told me I had to have a section to make sure I was safe and baby. He is like my father I swear. We have our names already picked out. Do you guys have any names you both like?

Me and Tony can NOT agree on names wacko.gif unsure.gif We're going to wait until we find out the sex so at least that will cut our options in half!! Jax, do you mean hubby wants you to have a C-section if you get pregnant??? laughing.gif

You have sometime to find a name that you both like. I am sure you will find one.

We already have our names picked out and yes I'm not preggo yet.

Yes I have a illness that never goes away if I don't take meds. It stinks I can't even drink. I never told him about what the viral infection does when you are preggo. So he was bored one day online and found out that I need to have a C section so I am safe and the baby. This is true but I never told him that. Trust me he wants a kid like soon so he is like researching already. Like prenatal pills and all. Question did you prego ladies use prenatal pills before hand?

Okay only like 23 days to go until May 31st. 17 school work days before summer school starts. It stinks they changed the summer school schedule to work until July 3rd poo. I wanted to go to the city for fire works. Maybe we can still go I get off in the afternoon and catch a train and stay at a hotel for the fire works.

Too bad have to work that Saturday he gets here. I wanted to go to Chi town and ride the metra in. Maybe Sunday we will go trying to make up my mind on what to do. Racking my brain to see what would be open on a Sunday. The next weekend after that his best man is having a winno party. Sounds like fun.

What are you ladies up to today? It is a gorgeous day here in IL.

You can still file for a visa without knowing your partner 2 years, you just get a conditional green card right? I've read on this, and there is a 2 year limit on a certain kind of green card. If you have known each other over 2 years they give you the other one. There are many people who have filed for a visa in less than 2 years knowing each other. I think the embassy was giving that couple the run around or there were probably other outstanding issues that nixed the visa.

Most women can't even keep anything down for a while, my daugher is now 20mths and I tried taking prenatals as soon as i found out I was only six weeks, my doctor told me stop taking them b/c it made no sense since i wasn't able to digest them. I stopped taking them about 7mths, they were just too big, then I got some gelcap ones which made a big difference For the 1st 3 months the baby really gets all it needs from its mother. It would be nice to start taking them before but God forbid you don't pregnant according to plan...u'll be taking these big nasty ugly brown tabs smile.gif

i remember those big brown ones my first pregnancy now the ones i'm taking actually helped with my quessiness (sp) but now that i think about it they are expensive. i pay $50. for 100 pills . can't u buy them in the store for $10.00?

You know I never bought the pre-natals my doctor always had samples....after I started losing weight he prescribed a anti-nausea meds..I LOVED IT

I just wanted to let you guys know when I was at the Embassy a couple was being denied because they had not know each other for 2 years before filing. Make sure you know your SO 2 years before filing the Visa Application. Just wanted to make this note to help any one out who maybe lurking who has not know their SO for 2 years yet.

I did not realize that was a requirement. I thought you just had to have meet in person within the last two years. No worry none of this applies to me. Sorry...still learning how to post replies.

Actually you're talking about something else. At the interview if the couple has been married for less then two years then the beneficiary will get the CR1 and if more then two years it's the IR1.

I would LIKE to say they can't do that, but it seems that they are a law unto themselves.
But if anyone WAS ever in that situation, they'd need to contact the USCIS, their senator etc, because there is NOTHING requiring ANY minimum period of knowing one another. That is some real crap right there....I wonder maybe if the interviewer was confusing the fact they had to have met in the two years preceding their application? Not that making a mistake would excuse it....

Less than a year in person whistling.gif

I guess what really gets to me is the whole inequality of the Embassies worldwide.
I read on here about a Kenyan girl being forced to strip naked duing her medical, when I had mine, the doctor just peeked in my pants.
The London Embassies reviews say most times all they ask for in the interview is your fiance's wage slips and the documents.
In my medical, they didn't ask me anything about smoking ganja, I've read how they HAMMER some people at Jamaican medicals.
The need ONE uniform system WORLDWIDE.
It is disgraceful that just because SOME people are applying from a third world country, they are being treated like criminals.
They should bring in a system of mystery shoppers and testers, everyone has the basic right to be treated with diginity and respect.

After my mother met Evan and new we were getting married, she was all on me to have grand babies.....note the plural BABIES there. She told me to take womens multi, calcium, and folic acid pills to "strengthen my body for babies" huh.gif
Anyway she had 7 kids and well into her 40's so I believe what she says. I think most prenatal pills have the same vits and mins as womens daily, they just have a heavier dose of folic acid.

It seems that the only one rotating here is ME ranting33va.gif That's part of the reason I get so mad. I'm always the one to get moved. The girl on day shift has been there for over a year now. I've been moved from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, now back to 2nd wacko.gif mad.gif

That certainly wasn't the rule when me and Tony filed no0pb.gif We only knew each other for 5 months when I filed devil.gif By the time of the interview, it was about 9 months. I know many, many couples who did NOT know each other for that long before hand and still got approved. I can't imagine them enforcing that rule unsure.gif

Yes, I started the Prenatal pills when I stopped my birth control. Since the first trimester is the most critical, it's a good idea since sometimes you don't even know you're pregnant til you're a month or two along. luv.gif

I think its horrible too. The only reason why they ask the stupid ganja question is cause the stereotype that all Jamaicans are ganja smoking Rastas..so stupid. You can definitely see how prejudice, racism, and socialism plays a HUGE role in this country. Its so sickening. People are people and should be treated accordingly.

Sorry to hear that Rhonda. Is there anyway they would move you back to 3rd shift? Could you ask or can they just move you at anytime? Did you get a copy of that book from your Library that I suggested. Have faith you will not be stuck there forever. luv.gif

Unfortuantely, it's at managements discretion and they can move me anytime they want to mad.gif I'm not in the union or anything so I have no rights!! I'm trying to stay here now that I'm preggo because I need to keep my health insurance and such and I want to take time off thru FMLA and in order to qualify you have to be at your job for 12 months or more. I forgot all about that book unsure.gif I've been reading up on pregnancy books and magazines blush.gif

Whether or not you get a conditional GC has nothing to do with how long you knew your significant other. I think what you may have read, is that if you apply for AOS and 2 years passes before you have the interview and recieve the GC, then you would get a 10 yr. GC instead of the 2 yr. conditional card. Hopefully it won't take that long for anyone, but if it does, you go right to the 10 yr GC since you already lived in the U.S. for 2 years.

I think it says you must have seen each other IN PERSON within the last 2 years. In other words, you couldn't meet your man in June 2004 and then not see him again for over 2 years, and then file in July 2006.

Why would they make someone strip down naked ohmy.gif I think I do remember Tony saying they looked at his privates!! Are they looking for STD's or what? Maybe they were more leniant with you since your preggo!!
Yes, the system is very inequal and unfair. Why do they hammer JA about the ganja and not other countries? I've heard this a lot too.
rhondapayter
Wow, it does seem crazy to me now (thinking about it) that I filed for the visa after only knowing Tony for about 5 months ohmy.gif I met him on December 30, 2003 then I visited in March '04, April '04, and May '04 devil.gif I just couldn't stay away! I was there again in July '04 and then Sept/Oct '04 for his interview. The time we were apart between my July trip and his interview was the longest we were apart since we met!!

I can't imagine carrying on a long distance relationship for many, many years no0pb.gif I give you guys major credit for doing it, but I personally couldn't handle it. I was out of money, vacation time, and patience as it was and ours happened pretty quickly.

That was a good question though Jax, and I was just about to ask it myself when you posted it! Now I'm curious how long everyone else knew their man before they filed. I think it was a poll on Yahoo a long time ago, but not everyone has access to that.
