Well, we've made up our minds - almost. We're going to Jamaica in August instead of November. I really don't want to go into labor in JA no0pb.gif I'm going from Aug. 18-25 and Tony will either go at the same time as me or 1 week before that. He wants to spend more time with his family and friends and I can't get any more vacation time. It will all depend on how much money he can save up for the trip (1 week vs. 2 weeks)

Didn' a couple of you other Yardie's mention that you may be in JA in August? What part of JA? I will be in Ochi as usual. cool.gif

Hey Rhonda I'll be in Jamaica during that time! I'll primarily be in Negril, but we'll be in Ochi on the 21st-23rd maybe for a honeymoon. The wedding is the 18th. I'd love to meet up with you! kicking.gif

Neither one of us know much about Ochi, whereabouts will you be?

This is a photo I took last week, it's at YS Falls......

Would love to see some favs of yours...

I LOVE YS Falls and the Black River. I've been soooo many times. I've got some really really cool pics there too and of me petting Charlie, the "famous" crododile. I, personally, have no desire to go to Dunns River.

Yes, we saw Charlie, Tom and Jerry and another one!!
Dunns River has become so commercialized it has lost so much of it's appeal......YS was so much better, had this unspolit air about it.....Only bad thing, they've just installed a rope glider thingy that you pay $30 US to use.....Had to edit the wires out of my photos sad.gif

THIS WAS A PICK TOOK OF A CROC DIGESTING IN THE SUN...IT WAS FABULOUS ..BLACK RIVER

Awesome kicking.gif Yeah, we'll have to hook up. We'll be staying at "Rooms on the Beach" (formerly Club Jamaica). It's nice - recently all renovated with all the necessities and literally right on the beach!! It is located right in the heart of Ochi on Turtle Beach. It is just West of Sunset Jamaica Grande. If you're still looking for a hotel, it's a nice little 3 star - it usually goes for $95 a night for an ocean-view w/ balcony but we got it on special for $75 on hotels.com biggrin.gif

WOW....that is crazy one whole year it could take to get the citizenship...and you have to send in both passports and get a police record...wow the whole passport thing i think is crazy...you can't leave the country for basically a year....
at least until we have kids...i'll do what rhonda did....

Nope, you just take your passports to the High Commission and they notorize them....along with the photos and birth certs....
eric_drewry
A better method would be to go to the office in Kingston in person with the documents. They will copy everything they need. You don't need an appointment. Once they send you the Citizenship paper, go back and have then stamp your passport with an unconditional landing stamp.

I did this claiming citizenship through my mother, so it only took 6 months instead of a year. But think about all we are going through to do the same for our SO. You can easily leave JA and return for the papers.

Good morning!

Sonshyne how does hubby like California?
I plan to apply for dual as well, especially since a little one is on the way. Maybe we can do that when we go next spring...I'll have to talk to hubby about this one.

Rhonda did they give you a hard time when you went thru the JA line @ Sangster?

Bogus application

An acquaintance called and told me today that she got "set up" and that a guy will be filing a bogus Fiance visa for her, I probably should not be but I was a bit P***.

After all I'm going through to get my "real fiance" here people are using the system for money, no wonder we have to skip though so many red tapes. It's not my business really, but I was just a little upset maybe, at another point in my life it would have mattered one bit. (just ranting forgive me)

I know, I know a couple of folk, who had the nerve and call me and ask for advise, they were doing the same thing. tongue_ss.gif I guess better to know you are being used than not blush.gif
Jomo's girl
They don't give you grief at Sangster. They actually want you to go through the nationals line with your husband/wife.

I was looking into dual; but not sure if I will or not. Not sure if the benefits outweigh the actual hassle of doing it.

I wanna know too. I stayed there before when it was Club Jamaica and had a great time. Now I usually stay at Columbus Heights/Skycastles which is up on the hill, but know that I'm 7 months pregnant. I will be staying in a 2bed at Sandcastles when I go in May. What's wrong with Rooms?

Please post what you happened at that hotel. I have clients interested in staying there for their honeymoon and from the reviews that I've done, didn't seem like such a bad place. I've only been to Ochi 2x, but it was a long time ago. Rooms is a SuperClubs property as of 2004.

Please keep me in mind if you need help with any of your travel arrangements. Thanks good.gif

You need to sign up on the USCIS site and when you check if the date has changed that means someone has looked at it or put it at the bottom of the pile (just kidding). It is frustrating not to see the date change...

We are pretty flexible in that time frame as I would be off that whole time. Would love to spend most of it in JA.....fly into Montego Bay.

exactly, My hubby will be working for a few days while i'm on this trip and I want to be closer in town. this is my first time staying at sandcastles. I have read bad reviews about the 1bedrooms but great reviews about the 2 bedrooms because the 2 beds are not owned by the hotel but by individuals, so i'm hoping for the best and our kids just love the beach.

wow i was just looking up the same info on yesterday. it was hard to find but i kept trying in google. it seems like all we need is 7000j and marriage cert, birth certs, the worst part is that it takes a year. that was the turn offf for me. but i only found it one place maybe you can do a better search. i looked up citizenship by marriage to a jamaican.
eric_drewry
You can alway try google jamaica, it does do a bit better for jamaican releated searches. But, the data found is accurate, as furthur up the page it described what I went through, only less fees as I went directly to the Ministry of Immigration and Passports on Constantspring Rd in Kingston.

I know this is totally off topic...but does anyone know of any good legal websites? I am looking for a DIY kit or something similar for Washington state...I am finding all sorts of stuff but I want to make sure I get something legit. Any ideas?

Jamie please check your PM.

Hey..I was wondering if anyone has checked into getting dual citizenship now that we are married. I think Jax was looking into it....anyone have any ideas on where I can go to get the paperwork started. I think I want a Jamaican passport so that I can skip those LONG immigration lines at the airport and buy Jamaican property with my husband in the next few years.....Any ideas?? helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

wow i was just looking up the same info on yesterday. it was hard to find but i kept trying in google. it seems like all we need is 7000j and marriage cert, birth certs, the worst part is that it takes a year. that was the turn offf for me. but i only found it one place maybe you can do a better search. i looked up citizenship by marriage to a jamaican.

I will ask my friends who are immigration officers when I go down next week and tell you when I get back.

I know for sure you have to wait one year before you apply. The rest I will get from them when I am down.

Good morning everyone!

Bert finally got his EAD approved and the card was ordered on April 26th. A couple of questions...How long does it usually take to receive it? Can he technecially go back to work with the approval notice? Is there a number on the card that his employer needs?
What an awesome way to start the morning with an e-mail from CRIS!!!!
Thanks for you help.

Congratulations on the welcome letter. And congratulations on your son's acceptance to UCLS. How exciting. You must be very proud of him.

I am glad you brought up the dual citizenship. I never thought about it. Definitely going to look into it too.
