Helloooo

Yes we are another couple on the journey! We have only just dicovered the site in the last few weeks. We have found it so helpful and would like to say a big thank you to everyone fpr their contributions! and Goooood Luck!

So I have recieved here in the UK, Packet 3, I have returned step one forms to the London embassy and am now waiting on the return of my Police check so that I can get my interview date.
I called to the Knightsbridge office regarding my medical, as it says on my form to arrange medical asap as it is valid for one year etc. Anyways, I made appointment and the person took my cc details, then she asked me when my interview date is. Which at this point i do not have yet. The receptionist said sorry we cannot make any appointment until you have your interview date? Yet this is the opposite of what it says on the forms from the embassy!

I know in the whole scheme of things that this is a small question, yet i wanted to get the medical done asap!

Anyone else have this???

Thank you!

Whomever you spoke with is, to my knowledge, very misinformed.

I'd try to call back at another time and speak to someone else. Or, lie and tell her your interview date is May 3rd. tongue.gif

Hello and welcome!!
Tim and Bethanie
I agree with Tracy tell a fib, they should give you an appointment either way.

Hmm, I'd just call back and hope you get someone who knows what they're talking about this time. When I booked my medical (I had it about 6 weeks ago) I was asked if I knew my interview date... I said I didn't have one, and that was fine - I went ahead and booked my medical appointment. Maybe ask to speak to someone else, or explain (as the person you were talking to clearly had no idea how it works!) that you are not allowed to send back your form to get an interview date UNTIL your medical is booked. Or just do what Tracy and Bethanie suggested, and make up an interview date - they'll never be any the wiser!

Grr, stupid people, making this whole thing harder than it needs to be!!
TracyTN
Is it possible that other visa types require that you have the interview date before booking the medical? Seems illogical but maybe the person answering the phone knows only one frame of reference, so to speak.
JamalNTam
Yea - you should def call back. I booked my medical before the London embassy even received the petition from NVC. All I needed was the LND number.

Welcome to the site! I'm glad you like it, I love it. Its a great place to learn and relate, its a great place.

As for the medical, they are wrong. You CAN have it before as MOST of us do, because we do it while we are waiting. I hope you have or do call them back and talk to someone else and tell them your having your medical and NO you DON'T have your appointment yet laughing.gif

Infact, I think the only things they needed to know if your case number and your credit card number!
TracyTN
Why do they need a credit card number to book the medical???

unsure.gif
flutter95
Well, she wanted mine not to charge it but to "hold" it cause she said something about if I didny turn up theres a 80 quid cancellation fee which would be charged to that card.

As Flutter said, if you don't turn up they charge you a fee. If they have your credit card you can't not pay them...
TracyTN
Right on - thanks for the info. I'll tell Chas to have his in hand when he books it. good.gif
stevensissy
Thanks for all your replies and info!

Well they sure had it wrong. Today, before i could call them, they rang me! Asking why I had not turned up for my appointment! lol

I explained to the lady the situation, who asked me who I spoke with........I was then put through to another lady, whom i believe was the lady I originally spoke to and I now have medical booked for April 20th! She was very apologetic!

Yes the credit card was in case of cancellation or failure to turn up..........I was not charged.

Then called to my local Docs to arrange vaccinations, thats booked for the 12!, so things are starting to happen now.

Hi everybody,
I am also new to this site, although I have been following people's discussion's and experiences for some time. I have probably got the wrong type of Visa application to be posting on here also but this subject seems closest to where I am at in the whole lengthy process.
My Mother filed I-130's for us back in April 1999 so we are in the F3 category. (married Sons of US Citizens) Our priority date is Apr 22nd 1999 The current date on the Visa bulletin is for March 22nd 1999 so we are almost there. Our case has been completed by the NVC and forwarded to London on March 22nd 2007. I haven't heard anything from them yet, so I assume I have to wait until my date is Current before they contact me.
I have noticed you making appointments for Medical's early. Does anyone know the phone number for doing this? It's going to be expensive, as there are five of us including my Wife and 3 Children.
Also does anyone know if I can somehow let the Embassy know in advance of certain dates I cannot make the interview due to my Children having important A Level and GCSE exams in May/ June.
Obviously after waiting 8 years to get this far, I don't want to risk missing the Interview!
Sorry it's a bit long winded, but if anybody has any answers I would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou.

The medical for K1 visas is 170 pounds. I have no idea if it'd be the same for other visa types.

Apparently you can call ahead and book your medical if you have your London case number. I guess I'm old fashioned, just going to wait until we receive the instructions to do so (via packet 3). Thus, I've not looked up the number for the Knightsbridge Doctors yet. Looks like we're about a week behind you (NVC sent our case over on 3/29). smile.gif

I have known people to recieve an interview date and then contact the embassy to say that date was not convenient for them - and they were assigned a new date. So that's a definite possibility for you (if it comes to that).

This may help too:

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for your answer. I don't blame you waiting for packet 3. I will probably do the same. Something's bound to go wrong if I go ahead and book the medical's before they tell me.
Perhaps you could let me know when you hear from the Embassy? I will do the same for you if I hear first. At least it looks like I may be able to change the date of interview if I need to. Thanks.

The information we were given stated that you could schedule the medical yourself. The Embassy told us that you had to wait for your interview date to be set. In any case, you can have the medical AFTER the interview. We did and it was not a problem; our interview was on 11 Sep 2006 and the medical was later that afternoon; visa wasn't issued until 03 Oct.

That's sort of what I figured - that I'd somehow tick them off, or put the cart before the horse. Which might actually cause a delay (instead of speeding things along).

I'll keep my timeline updated - plus I'll probably post that in the UK forum here on the site. I think its taking about 2 weeks now to get in the system and receive the packet. My two weeks will be up Monday, but of course, we lost 2 days thanks to the Easter holiday. So my guess is sometime next week before we get the packet.

Good luck!
