We'll have another Ice Age before Linux even makes a dent in anything close to main-stream computers(ing)...

Windows.

Love it.

It pays my bills and I am happy with our relationship...

Windows.

I bought an $8 computer from Ebay with P3 800 mhz, and 256 mb ram. I ran Slackware Linux on it, and it's awesome! Run faster than Windows.
Nagishkaw
Hopefully it lets you engage in even more small talk per day.

Precisely a good reason to use it.

However, I don't use it yet. Have plans to learn it (because I have a Knoppix disc and a Musix disc) after moving to US---something to do while waiting for permission to work.

Windows...because for the moment, it's all I know. smile.gif

My laptop is dual-boot windows (Windows 2000) and linux (Fedora Core 6) - there are benefits and impediments with both. I prefer linux, but found that to interact with most of the rest of the world I need to have windows.

Welshcookie
Have both but tend to boot into windows because it is just so much more familiar I guess.

Linux...

I personally cannot imagine why anyone would use Windows on purpose. Every time I'm forced into it I think the same thing.
Karin und Otto
So..to those Linux fans..

If you were a Linux-PC maker/builder's salesman - how would you convince 'Average-America' to purchase a Linux-loaded system...?

consolemaster
I bought 3 IBM NetVista P3 1 ghz machines for about 20-30 dollars from ebay and used Linux clustering on them. It is as powerful as the high end 1000 dollar computer. Maybe a little exaggeration, but, that is something to be proud of.

Those machines are old models of most retail POS systems. They work quite well though.
cartaverde
Where is the option for Mac OS X?
I don't use Windows at all, so OS X and Solaris here.
