Blues Fairy
My fiance called USCIS and was attended to by a fairly helpful lady who repeated the old news about the delay caused by the failed immigration bill. Apparently lots of Senators are hassling USCIS to issue more work visas for their states etc. He managed to talk her into giving our file a quick look over to see if there would be anything that could pose a problem when it is finally given the attention it deserves. She happily obliged, and after some minutes informed that things looked great, in fact, one of the better applications she had ever seen! So that’s something, I guess. Not the best of news, but most assuredly not the worst.

QUOTE(Eka_&_Pyrrhic @ Jul 16 2007, 05:09 PM) *
As the days pass, I grow more agitated. I feel like we are being penalized for doing things by the book. I'm Canadian. I could have gone to the US ages ago, visited my then boyfriend and married. By this point, we would be well into the adjustment of status process. Instead, we did things the "right" way and got stuck with absurd processing times and equally extreme AOS costs, in addition to the regular costs of filing the I-129F, traveling to the interview, medical, obtaining the visa, etc that would have been avoided by jumping ahead to AOS.

We chose to do things the right way because we are law-abiding citizens of our respective countries.

Oh Eka, you literally took all the words from my heart and said it all. I know, it seems really unfair, but spending these 3 months here in VJ, it doesn't seem to me that every K1 gets equal treatment from CSC. I know how each and every single one is different and all, but to me, it just seems like it's totally a game of luck. Whichever file gets picked first gets worked on first, and so on. Don't take me the wrong way, I'm really happy for people who have been approved in like 2!! blink.gif or 7, 55, 68, or even 75 days, but as the days drag on, it just gets more and more difficult to put on a smile and press on.....when I've past my 90 day mark, and approaching my 100th....... sad.gif

I second that. This entire process is just completely emotionally exhausting. I'll admit I'm paranoid at times. And not even being touched this entire time is driving my mind wild with all the negative possibilities. We did everything we should have, everything by the book; however, so many people are just walking in illegally and getting a pat on the back and told everything is ok. In the meantime- all of us who are waiting (im)patiently for our loved ones to join us are being scrutinized and seemingly punished for doing things the legal way.

I'm terrified of our petition being Denied. I'm very young, and I have a serious worry that we may be denied simply because of my age (I'm 20, which is perfectly acceptable an age to marry a citizen. But I worry that they may try to play some sort of ridiculous 'immaturity' card when evaluating our case). Maybe I worry too much. crying.gif Has anyone ever heard of USCIS causing problems for people who are younger simply because of age?

Oh please let it be......seriously, please!!!

Oh wow Deron, you were touched 14/07? On a Saturday? unsure.gif

Yeah the standard one call (RFE method btw) two touch system. You get one the day of and one the day after....usually. CSC and this entire process is such a joke...

Bring us your tired, your weak...hah, as a citizen today if one wants to MARRY someone that isn't a citizen, you get to to enjoy the elongated debacle.

American's don't have enough children to propagate our society, only 1.9 per 2 adults. It is our immigration solely that contributes to the increase in our population. Immigration based on marriage = disproportionate increase in resulting children / new taxpayers. Plus, those in this process have the advantage of international experience, business or personal, something that is no doubt statistically related to an 'above average contributor' to society many ways. This k-1 process is not a shining star of our government bureaucracy nor is it a reflection of our collective interests.

I'm disappointed not only for myself or my fellow VJ'ers. This week or month may or may not be ours, and life will go on regardless, but we should all hope that those that follow us do not share our dismal experience. NOA2's this week have no reflection on this thought process for me, but I certainly hope I get one. wink.gif

One more day apart, is still one more day together!

2nd touch today. Somebodies peaking. Status still reads Current Status: Case received and pending. But at least somebody is using it for something.

I couldn't take it anymore and called NVC....repeatedly, since they kept telling me to call back before I even got to talk to a human being. They sent our case to Jo'burg on the 13th!! One less thing to worry about in the next week. Now for the bar exam on the 24th and the 25th. I swear...after that is gone, all the stress of the last few months will be a memory and it will feel like i'm on vacation even tho I won't be going anywhere!
geocolorado
Quinn. You encouraged me to keep trying. I finally got through and found out that our application arrived at the NVC on 7/12 and left on 7/16. It should be in Peru by now smile.gif

NOA2 CRIS Email!
We got our CRIS email today stated they put our NOA2 in the mail. How soon can I expect it and how soon can I expect NVC
to have it? Does anyone know the approximate wait time for the name check? Just so I know how it goes next, can anyone double check this so it looks like I understand it correctly.

1.wait for NOA2 in mail
2. NOA2 goes to NVC
3. FBI name check
4. NOA2 sends petition to embassy
5. Embassy sends pack to fiance
6. Fiance gets everything and then sends it back to Embassy
7. Embassy sends letter with appointment date
8. Appointment

Right?

OOOO. Now what do I do? The only thing I need to do send to him is the affidavit of support right, and supporting evidence of being together? What else? I'll be there with him at the interview, but what should I get together now?

I had written a letter about a week ago to the email address the USCIS provided for those who felt they have been approved but have not receive their hard copy due to there recent system problems. I told them I have seen some people who have a later NOA1 date than my own become approved. And that other USCIS personal have assured me that they process them in the order they are received. I wrote "So either the USCIS processes the petitions out of order or I have already been approved but have not been notified. I asked which one of those two where true. Have I been approved or does the USCIS indeed process out of order? since only one can be true." hehe.

That was about a week ago. I am now thinking that is why I have received my touches. I called today and the man said nobody has been assigned to my case yet. of course he tried to give me the "we are only working on January petitions." line, and I always love that one haha. I asked him if you are only working on JAN petitions then why have at least 80+% of JAN,FEB, and March filers already been approved? as well as some April filers. haha he had no answer. only said he has to go by the date given him there. hahha. OH well. back to waiting. haha.

wioombeen
wioombeen
Another funny thing to note.

I used the RFE prompts to get transfered to the CSC. but was redirected back to the main USCIS. I was given a recorded message staying that there was none at the CSC today to take my call.

I don't know if this is another way of saying all operators are busy. or saying simply there is nobody there period. Is it the weekend already? haha. hmmm

This is the word for word letter I wrote

I have received several touches, but no notice. I
have seen also several other people receive their
NOA2's who have dates after my own receipt date.

The USCIS assured me that they process the
applications in order they are received. If this is
true then I must have been approved already. Since I
have indeed seen many petitioners with later receipt
dates than my own being approved. I have even seen
one with a receipt date of June 20th approved. That
is over 2 month later than my own receipt date. The
only other explanation is that the USCIS process the
petitions out of order or they give special treatment
to some petitioners.

Please let me know which of these are true.

1. The CSC is processing petitions out of order.
2. Some petitioners are given special treatments.
3. My petition has already been approved but due to
the system problems at the CSC I have not yet
received a notice.

One of these has to be accurate. Please let me know
which one.

thanks
