QUOTE(MGMK @ Jul 12 2007, 01:45 PM)

Reviewing some other posts and seeing no change online as to my received date, I contact my local congressional representative via fax and provided the requisite privacy form. I received a call from a staff member within one hour and was very optimistic. Unfortunately, the person said that she contacted USCIS and they are working on November files now and I just have to wait. She also said that USCIS puts the received date as the date they start inputting the case into the computer and not the date they receive it. I told her what I had learned on VJ and she said that she knows more than me about this and accused me of implying she is "ignorant." I asked to speak with her supervisor. Her supervisor was much nicer and said that we just received your paperwork today and we need time to look into it. I said that is all I want.
Hi MGMK,
Welcome to the April Filers thread!

I'm kinda surprised that your congressional rep actually attended to you, coz I thought we can only contact them for help when your application has passed per USCIS processing times? Pls correct me if I'm wrong! Anyhow, I still hope that CSC would get a move on, aww really, these past weeks have really been dead.....

Thanks, Rambaldi:
I think you can contact your congressperson any time but they will only be able to apply any pressure if you are past the date or if there is some kind of error that they are not addressing at USCIS. I was worried about having two different dates April 18th (the actual received date) and an erroneous May 11th received date that showed online. USCIS agreed that the April 18th date was the correct one but did not change the May 11th date. I figured better get someone else involved since the difference in date could mean two months of extra waiting before approval the way things are going. Having worked in numerous state and federal agencies, I was always respectful of the work government employees did especially when you compare their pay to the private sector. But I also know that things won't change unless people put pressure on their congressional representatives to provide more resources to the USCIS to get more help.
Anyway, I am only one person and I think the experience so far has been wholly unpleasant and I shall let everyone know if my received date does change on the USCIS. I'm just glad the the NOA1 has the correct date I guess.
Thanks and good luck to all.

I hadn't called CSC since Monday so I decided to try again today. My case still hasn't been assigned. I asked what the heck is happening lately, why timelines have been extended by a month and only two approvals have came out this month. She informed me that they are having SERIOUS computer problems. She tried to give me the December line but I told her about VJ and that how most were being approved, up until recently, in 80-90 days. She informed me that those days are long gone. So I default to wioombeen's advice and I take solice in knowing that I am so lucky to be with the one I love, a few extra weeks (or months) or separation are trivial. Congrats on the NOA2 from VSC thesparrow, you are one of the lucky ones. Have a good weekend all and let's hope and pray that CSC will end it's month+ long vacation next week.

What I find funny about this is the fact that they stated that one of the reasons for the new increase in fees is so that they can go digital and increase the processing time since they would not longer have to do it "BY HAND" anymore. So their Pc's are down. Get out the Ol' #2 and get to work.

We mailed our petition on March 28. Received NOA1 on April 09. No touches, no RFE.
Would it do any good at all for me to call the Customer Service center about my case? Or will they just tell me it's 'pending' and send me on my way?

California Service Center Now Issuing Delayed Form I-797 Approval Notices
USCIS is pleased to announce that it has resolved the systems problems creating delays in Form I-797 notice issuance from the California Service Center (CSC) that had been previously announced to the public. CSC is in the process of generating and mailing the delayed approval notices and affected customers should expect delivery by July 20, 2007. We appreciate the patience our customers have shown during this effort.
Affected customers who have not received a notice by the July 20, 2007 date (for example, if you have checked the online system and it indicates that your case was approved and you have not received an approval notice), may submit an inquiry for review to the e-mail box. Please include your receipt number and/or your A number with your inquiry. The CSC e-mail address for inquiries is: CSC.NoNotice@DHS.Gov
maybe we will all be getting some good news very soon...

I never called, never a touch, or RFE (thankfully). Not sure if calling does anything to speed it up? Hang in there, I would think the approvals are coming soon for the rest of April filers. The Official 100 Day Rant:
Tomorrow will be 100 days since our NOA1 was issued, 110 days since the petition was mailed and 130 days since my fiance and I were last together. Not as long as some but much longer than others. I've been pretty patient so far, but in the spirit of Quinn, I'm unleashing a furious rant with hopes that CSC will turn around and approve us. I'm not very optimistic, but it's worth a shot.
As the days pass, I grow more agitated. I feel like we are being penalized for doing things by the book. I'm Canadian. I could have gone to the US ages ago, visited my then boyfriend and married. By this point, we would be well into the adjustment of status process. Instead, we did things the "right" way and got stuck with absurd processing times and equally extreme AOS costs, in addition to the regular costs of filing the I-129F, traveling to the interview, medical, obtaining the visa, etc that would have been avoided by jumping ahead to AOS.
We chose to do things the right way because we are law-abiding citizens of our respective countries. I plan on living the rest of my life in the USA with the man I love - there is no reason I would jeopardize that to shave a few months off the process. Canada has it's own problems with immigration and I have little respect for anyone that abuses the system of their current or future homeland. I would certainly not want to become one of those people myself.
However ...
It takes 100+ days to plug my name into a database and flip through some photos and emails??? Give me a break. If us regular folk were that inefficient in our respective professions, we'd be fired. Our employers would go under with that sort of track record too. Seriously CSC - hire more people, delegate, do something! I realize that major changes are coming into effect at the end of this month and I hope the process is improved for future couples but I have my doubts.
In the end, what are a few extra months apart when we're planning for a lifetime? I'll tell you what - a few extra months that we could have spent together. And once gone, a few extra months that we can never have back.
Angry enough? Kinda sad too. Give us our NOA2 already!
Rawr!

Oh Eka, you literally took all the words from my heart and said it all. I know, it seems really unfair, but spending these 3 months here in VJ, it doesn't seem to me that every K1 gets equal treatment from CSC. I know how each and every single one is different and all, but to me, it just seems like it's totally a game of luck. Whichever file gets picked first gets worked on first, and so on. Don't take me the wrong way, I'm really happy for people who have been approved in like 2!!

or 7, 55, 68, or even 75 days, but as the days drag on, it just gets more and more difficult to put on a smile
and press on.....when I've past my 90 day mark, and approaching my 100th.......

Indeed. From calling they have told me that each case is processed in the order it is received. I personally think that is a bunch of BS.

yey. my timeline is down from 8/2X to 8/4.
*sigh*
Talked to one of my old bosses today that's heavily involoved in politics. She says i should have already written my reps a few times now. How long to people usualy wait before writing? 90 days? 100+?
This whole process is very emontionally... deadening. <~ new word? heh.

Thats what people will always say, but your congressman will usually say they can't do anything about it until "due process" has taken place, which in CSC's case, I'm thinking about 3-4 months.. they may even wait til six month or longer before they make a congressional inquire... i notice we have the same NOA1 date... hopefully we won't have to wait that long (keeping our fingers, toes, eyes... crossed)

NeverSeen, we have people here who have NOA1s received as early as on the 2nd, and has yet to hear anything too.....

Though my timeline is also down from 8/1 to 7/20....dunno how true is that....
