according to the K1 example forms on this site, it is required. You should check it out and see with all the forms you will be needing.

It is required, at least by the Ankara Embassy. Make sure you check your embassy site as well as the guides.

how come the packet 4 i recieve it doesnt mention about ds 230?

i received my packet 4 and no ds 230 included.

hi, when will be ur interview.. mine will be this coming april 27....so i think ds 230 is not part of the k1 then cos the embassy did not mention it anyway..

Wrong. DS-230-I is required by most if not all consulates, DS-230-II by some.

There's probabably a Phillipines thread in the Foreign Embassy Discussion forum, you can ask in there, but yes, like Yodrak said, DS-230 Part 1 is normally required at most Embassies. Also its a very short form, Page 1 of 4 and 2 of 4, so it cannot hurt to fill it out so that you have it just in case.

In Brazil DS-230 Part 1 is required in order to get the interview date. It is a part of Packet 3. My fiance had to send that in, along with another form, in order to be given his interview date.
DS-230 Part II was never given.
