I've noticed that the limits for the signature size are quite wide. Sometimes the signatures get so big it gets in the way of reading the topics, and sometimes pics are posted in signatures that even make the screen stretch, and we have to scroll sideways to read the posts.

Shouldn't signature sizes be more limited? I know people should use common sense but when we have big limits we tend to use them.

No way for me to enforce that in the code however I have asked a few people to reduice their images. 99% of the time it is just an accident! So no worries. My guess is that if you tell them directly that it is too wide for your monitopr and distorting the pages they will reduce it smile.gif.

Although it seems that common sense would prevail that when there are 3 to 5 huge photos and/or a glittery tag line with a font of 3,000 that they would realize it's a bit too big without being told.

Agreed, common sense rarely prevails. Several regulars have sigs that roll off the screen, to the right.

If there is no way to control that with code, I guess we will need to "mention" that to them directly.

If it's in the site rules a size limit then it's easier to ask people to reduce it, just by reminding them that their sigs are too big.

So you too can experience the joy of someone telling you to STFU.
Great.

Didn't we decide that self moderation didn't work? Or was that something else?

In other boards that I participate, when you create your sig there's a message saying what sizes are allowed. Then if we see bigger sig, we can report it.
