Hi guys,

I hope someone can shed some light....not sure exactly where to post this

In order to change my passport, and register my marriage in Croatia, as well as register the birth of the baby in Croatia I have to have all US documents translated into Croatian AND they need to have the Appostille Seal on them, which basically makes them internationally accepted. The problem is that I have no idea how to obtain the Seal in US- where do I go.
Any info would help....

Thanks, ivona

The translationa and seal needs to come from the Secretary of State's Office in the state the document was issued in. If the baby was born in Florida, then you need to send the documents to the that states Sec of State office. This is my understanding when I looked into it.

Hi:
I remember we needed that Apostille Seal for one of the documents we submitted for aos(sorry I don't remeber for which document).
We got it from the Secretary of State office in Raleigh, NC.
I'd never heard of it before but sure enough, the folks at the SOS office knew about it. So, we got it done in about half an hour.

I remember that in order to get the apostille on our marriage certificate we had to make a special request and pay a little bit more at the same time we require the standard marriage certificate, and then after 10 days we went to pick it up complete w/the apostille at the vice governor office building here where we live. I hope it can help. For the translation actually the Italian consulate usually makes directly the translation of it before sending it to Italy, so actually I didn't have to have the marriage certificate translation. Regarding the baby birth certificate, I'm sorry I can't help you since we don't have any child, so I'm not familiar how to do it and where to request for it.

Good luck!!!!!

I'll check with the Sec. of State Office for Florida and see what they tell me...

Thank you again
