Was just curious...

I prefer Walmart...

Target has a weird, unfriendly atmosphere, kind of like they think they are a high class store or something tongue.gif
Fuzzness
I have to say Wally World because I've never been to Target tongue_ss.gif

We shop at both, but go to Wal-Mart more, since there are more of them and prices are lower.

Perfect example of how Wal-Mart saves you money. I just signed up with Verizon for cell phone service and they wanted $29.99 for a car charger. I got a Belkin charger at Wal-Mart for $7.98. Before the Wal-Mart is evil crowd comes out, both chargers were made in China.

Walmart seems to know its place and doesn't try to be something it is not.... good.gif whistling.gif

I HATE Walmart. It is dirty, sticky and they only sell junk. And if you pay attention, they have a few good deals, but they are actually MORE expensive than other stores. I am shocked that people have been soooo brainwashed to LOW PRICES ALWAYS. Yeah, that is how the Waltons are worth 60 Billion dollars... dead.gif

You tell me what item someone else sells cheaper than Wal-Mart that is not a sale or limited time offer?

Their entire home improvement department for one. They carry seconds clothes. And they like to play lots of tricks with everything intheir store. For example, my sister in law has a baby and their diaper boxes will have 5 less diapers. Yeah, it's a dollar cheaper, but you are getting LESS. They just cheapen everything. I am a buyer for a huge retail chain, and let me tell you...I have studied that company and they are SMART!!! They force the manufactures to cheapen the product, only sell it to them and make the company sell a more expensive and higher quality product to their competition so that they can say they have the "lowest" price. PAAAAALEASe. It is just a bunch of sh*t in my opinion.

I don't agree with how walmart treats their employees... I try to avoid it at all costs, but sometimes the convenience sucks me in. If I can find the same cheap item at a family dollar store, well that's where I go. Come to think of it, I dislike most mass chains.
*Marilyn*
mmm, the Walmart I go to is not dirty and sticky and smelly huh.gif and it is a heck of a lot cheaper then all those Mall stores ohmy.gif

I Love Target!!!!
Aymerlu
I like the Wal-mart Super Centers for the groceries and some of their kids stuff. I like Target for clothes for me (yes they are cool) and their home decorations. It's funny. I live in a town where there are 4.....soon to be 5 Wal-Marts and their prices are different from store to store. The Wal-Mart that is in the rich part of town of course has the highest prices. That's just nuts. wacko.gif

How about Robinsons May right now! Everything is 70% off and tomorrow it might even be 80%. I just got 4 golf shirts for 6 dollars a peice! Woo Woo! Now I understand why Claudeth gets excited blink.gif
Cristy
Wal Mart!! We don't have Target here and when I went in the US I was not impressed. I am so excited I will be right by a 24 hr Wal Mart Super center! We don't have any 24 hr or super centers!! Wooo hooo!!

are they going out of business or something? huh.gif

I shop Wal-Mart because it's there...I've been in Target too, both are ok. Wal-Mart seems cheaper than Target, but I like Target's home section. Forget the clothes in both, for me....their plus size section positively sucks!!!!
sparkofcreation
I like Target, their stuff tends to be better quality, plus they sell Method cleaning products which we love (especially the wipes and the unscented laundry detergent). Walmart always seems crowded to me, I think their aisles are narrower. (Props to them though, their store brand cosmetics and such aren't tested on animals.)

And of course some Wal-Marts treat their employees like sh*t. Not all, but some.
Kajikit
Walmart is cheaper and has a wider range of stock, but it's not quite as good quality and the queues at the checkouts tend to be horrendous! I would buy my clothes at Target in preference to walmart but their plus-sized section sucks bigtime! We've started shopping at Kmart too...
(yes, I'd LOVE to be able to afford Sears or JC Penney but it's way out of our price range...)
SanDan
I love going to both. We usually do grocery shopping at Walmart.
kc456
I prefer Target over Walmart. Walmart (the few times I ventured there) always has such a claustrophobic feeling to it, wich is anxiety provoking. Target is much more spacious and there are never lines.
Fischkoepfin
Target; I don't go to Walmart for a variety of reasons (labor conditions, quality of products, distance compared to other stores, etc).
What I like about Super Target is the fact that their food section includes lots of organic or at the very least whole grain food. Their produce section is decent (better than Walmart's) and has a lot of variety. They also sell non-hormone raised beef and other meats. Best of all, it's not that expensive.
If I could afford it, I wouldn't shop at Target either, however; I prefer smaller stores.

Love Walmart blush.gif never shopped in Target but will def give it a go when we are over there good.gif
Keigwyn
Target seems to get more bulk items of cheap electrical goods wheras Walmart just gets wierd stuff right across the board!

I go to both. Walmart definitely have cheaper products, but we have to be careful with them, some of them are really junks ! And their fresh meat is icky !! (well, at least at the ones nearby where I live) Target has better produce sections in my opinion, and also better clothing and accessories sections (better quality and I like their designs better than Wally's). Wally has larger home appliances section and also more choices in pet section. So all in all, it depends on what I need to buy wink.gif
Jenn!
That's a no brainer for me. Target definitely. I HATE Walmart. It's like going to the f*ing zoo.
CherryXS
Some things I buy (or have bought) at Wal-Mart:
  • a few grocery items such as milk
  • microcassette tapes
  • inexpensive (mostly particleboard, but also card-table sets) furniture

From Target:
  • some (casual-only) clothing.
  • discontinued electronic item (microwave) for office

Admittedly, Target is generally more expensive, but its wider aisles and generally better displays account for this.

Both! Wal-mart for every day things and groceries, and Target for fun things/gifts/decor. Our Target is fun here. I don't feel like it's unfriendly or anything, maybe it just matters what city/town you are in. They always have good clearance in the clothing section too, I have many times gotten a cute shirt for $6 in the clearance. We don't have a super Target, although they did add in a small grocery section recently. No produce or anything though.

I love both places!!

I'm a comparison shopper and many times Walmart is a lot cheaper in things than other places...as someone else said, show me who sells everything cheaper, and such a wide variety, and I'll shop there. For now, walmart wins that one for me. I don't have enough money to be mad at walmart or chain stores to not shop there for whatever reasons, only people with more money can do that.
Sister Fracas
Since I have neither near me and can't get to either easily, I don't shop at either...
crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

BUT...I have bought several things at Target's online store and have been pleased with price and quality. I tried to find a few things at Walmart's online shop and couldn't find what I wanted or needed.

Well i have to say Target is my fav....
I have been in walmart 2 or 3 times as first there s always to many people shopping and also do not like the quality of the products
Canuck Carrie
I'm looking forward to trying both. We don't have Target up here yet (but I can get to 4 Ikeas easily blink.gif ), and the Walmart near me sucks so I don't go.

Like Cristy I'm excited about Super & 24 hours!, this is a whole new concept for me, downtown Toronto doesn't have such things.
munchkins
Wouldn't buy meat or food from Walmart, go to a supermarket for all that when I am over there but do like looking around the towels and bedding etc. Also love Bed and Beyond
Cassie
I have shopped at both, but I prefer Target.
eau_xplain
We shop in both but frequent Walmart more. We mostly go there for DVDs and games that they put out for sale.
ceresa
Definately Target ....their produce (amongst other stuff) is much better quality !

Although I don't have the money to shop anywhere blink.gif I voted for Target-because I do love their home section. I love the Shabby Chic items. I also think they have some cute clothes.

I have been to Walmart a few times and I have to say I wasn't that impressed, it could have just been the store I went to, but it was like a zoo!!!! It was very dirty
Bootylicious
I shop at both. Walmart more often than Target because the Walmart is closer to us. I prefer Target though. Their products seem to be better quality. Their home decor stuff is much better than Walmart. I love, love, love the Global Bazaar stuff at Target. It is awesome. If there were a Target closer to us, it would be Target all the way.
shannon65
I don't often shop at either....but Target is closer and I shopped there once and a few times bought something from Target.com
Dixie_Peach
I voted walmart since we don't have a target here...
over-all... i love PIER 1 for the home furnishings, etc...
Cato for clothing
and the local grocery store for groceries
*Marilyn*
our Walmart is busy a lot of the time but it isn't dirty... I don't shop thre a lot but it is really close to wear we live and it is so handy to drop in when we need something
britbird
I like Target.
Though if i'm bulk buying stuff I'll go to Costco.
irishgirl73
My one friend "lives" at Walmart-I swear she is there every day. I did buy some Christmas stuff there last year-they did have some very good bargains.
*Marilyn*
we bought most of our nephews and nieces christmas presents there.. we got some pretty cool stuff that was pretty inexspensive...
Cristy
I had never seen a dirty Wal Mart until I went to one in Minot ND. It was a filthy mess. If that was my only impression of Wal Mart I never would have gone back. The one Target I was in, in Minot as well, was pretty dirty and I thought the prices were quite high.
one_coolchiq
i like target and kings super store but walmart are just around the corner.
A.J.
Depends on what I need to buy and where the deals are.

Must be a regional thing. Here in the Boston area, it seems Walmarts are super crowded, and super disorganized. While Target always seems to be less crowded, and more clean.

I'm willing to pay a few bucks more per trip for a "more pleasant shopping experience."

Makes me wonder why I do my grocery shopping at Market Basket.....

I think you are dead-on..............................must be a regional thing. The Wamart's I have been too are really messy, Target is in my opinion, a much better shopping experience.

In the Baltimore City and surrounding Maryland Counties all the Wal-Marts I have been in are busy no matter when you go into one. Not sure what you mean by disorganized, other than they normally have pallets of stock in the aisles waiting to be put on the shelves. Since, most stay open to midnight and with the volume of merchandise they move it only stands to reason that things like stocking shelves may need to be done while the store is open.

You never see stuff in the aisles at Target, but their stores close earlier and I don't think they do anywhere near the business that Wal-Mart does.
Miranda&James
Target all the way. Walmart is dirty and just way too huge and doesn't have the same high quality selection as Target. I do go to Walmart for somethings since it has a few things Target doesn't have but I would shop Target over Walmart any day. When I go into Walmart I feel stressed and annoyed and in Target my shopping experience is actually pleasurable. Also, anytime I go to Walmart the people in the parking lot are IDIOTS (I once had someone in front of me reverse and almost hit my car to take a spot I was about to pull up into that they had passed) and there is never a decent spot. Seems like whenever I go to Target there is always a good spot and even if there isn't the walk isn't bad because I like going to Target so much! smile.gif
