I heard I should ask around on this. Will there be a problem with the US Embassy in Manila at my future-wife's interview if my father is her financial co-sponsor due to the fact that he's rich and I'm a poor college student....
YuAndDan
No,

You need to provide a completed I-134 and financials as well as your co-sponsor.

I read somewhere in one of the forums that co-sponsorship for K1 visa is not being allowed in the Philippines. Could someone help us confirm if this is true or is it really allowed in the Phils.? we need to know too, maybe we'll get my fiance's father to co-sponsor.

YuAndDan -

The Manila consulate doesn't behave like others. Your advise may not be sound.

I am going to go the K-3 route-, if my father sponsors my future wife financially, will the US Consulate scrutinize us?

If your planning on marrying at any time, i would suggest this for fastest easiest way to get a visa. If you have doubts about a co sponsor i cant help you, because i dont know the Manila embassy. I made enough to qualify my Pinay wife. But I do know the absolute fastest way to get your wife here is to move to PI for about 4-5 months, get married and file the papers as American living abroad. then most all of your papers are filed directly thru the embassy and the process is complete in months. I f you can take a semester off and do this I would recommend it. Other then that I would post around on all these site until you can get a striaght answer to your co sponsor question from a few people who have done it. Also you most likely will get no reliable info or help from USCIS or Dept of State regarding manila embassy. None knows each others policy and if they say they do dont believe them. I got different answers to same question many times during my year of filing papers.

good luck whichever route you choose, wish i could be of more help

YuAndDan,

I don't understand how you can write that when you know virtually nothing of what the proposed sponsor's financial information package will look like.

chrisepic,

The consular office will scrutinize the proposed sponsor no matter who they are. The consular officers in the Philippines are reported to scrutinize more closely than most.

After having lived in the P.I. for a few years, I would say that that would be a good idea for many reasons. But the K-1 is still the fastest way.

I heard the US embassy in Manila does not accept any kind of sponsor for the K-1 or K-3, but they do for the CR-1. Can someone confirm this?

Ok, This is the time to use your "rich" Dad's resources. Find an immigration lawyer, one who specializes on the Philippines, and have a 1 hour sit down conversation with him. Have all of your questions detailed out on paper, before you go to the appointment. Go down the list 1 at a time.

You don't need to have him process you applications, but you should get great advice. If you don't know a highly qualified attorney specializing in the Philippines, then ask the question here on VJ, and I'm sure you'll have an answer quickly.

My quick searching on Google is indicating the Philippines are not allowing K-1 (Fiancee) Co-Sponsors, but are allowing for Co-Sponsors on K-3 (Spouse). But that is just posts from other forums, and is not an expert opinion.

P.S. If you don't have any luck finding one, let me know in a PM, and I'll ask my co-worker who He and his Wife used. They were very happy with the attorney they used.
