I-601 cases filed at Montreal stay pending at VSC for almost 12 months before you see first touch.
This is when an adjudicating officer is assigned to your case.
Assuming no further request-for-evidence is issued by this officer, does anyone know
how many days it would take this officer to mark the case as process-complete.
When searching this forum with keyword "adjudicator", I found detailed description about
what a typical work load or work flow is for an officer. This is posted by someone waiting
for CIMT case back in August 06.
It would be more peaceful if I can know the big picture as to how long it takes for an
officer to say done.

I've never seen VSC take as long as 12 months but it all comes down to how backlogged they are.
You might find some information here as well as other posts by this couple - one of them posted a way to get through to a live person to check waiver status back around October which might be helpful to you.

My question is about an officer's adjudicating time. Maybe you don't know but there is actually
a date in the life of a case when it changes from "pending" to "assigned". Once the case is in
the "assigned" state, how long it takes to change again to "complete" state ?

Hi there! My I-601 will hit the one year mark on the 30th (that's when I filed it, they received it on April 28th). Anyway...I got my first touch on March 6th, the second on March 11th, so I am assuming that is when it was assigned. I have not heard anything since. Sorry I couldn't answer your question, I hope to know the answer too and I am hoping it doesn't take much longer!

My understanding is that while Vermont has stated 12-18 months, in reality waivers are normally processed faster than that. The person who I read about here on VJ was approved in 8 months. No, I'm not aware of the date change from pending to assigned, but since that information isn't readily available, perhaps the information on how to contact a live person at Vermont will prove helpful to you.
