My husband is thinking of visiting his family in Jordan at the end of the year. It will be a long time yet before his AOS interview. Does he really need to file the I131 in order to leave the USA and return after he visits? How long can he be out of the country?

Can I travel and re-enter the U.S. on my K-3 or K-4 visa?

Aliens present in the United States in a K-3 or K-4 nonimmigrant visa status can travel outside of the United States and return using their K-3/K-4 visa. If they have filed for adjustment of status in the U.S. prior to departure from the U.S., USCIS will not presume that the departure constitutes abandonment of an adjustment application.

However ominously it was printed white on white so the text was actually invisible! Does this mean it is wrong - not sure.

EDIT: http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k3k4visa-aos.html#14.9 backs this up, you can travel on K3 as long as it is valid.

I see what you're saying, I had to drag my mouse on the blank spot to read the very exact thing you typed above. LOL Well, better file that AOS, LOL Thanks a lot!
