Just letting everyone know that we received our notification of approval yesterday - which was totally out of the blue

Was prepared to sit back and wait for another couple of months - to say shocked was an understatement.
Any ideas on how long the next processes take?
Jenny
Jenny, I am so happy for you. I am getting ready to file for my step son. Who was your I-130 for. Also tell me, can they come and visiti during the process???, My fiance came to IS on the fiance visa, and we were married 3 years. He had a massive heart attack and passed away. My biological son was in a car accidendt on the way to help me with my husbands funeral. Now I have my 12 y/o daughter, and my step son in England that I am trying to get here. SO any info would be helpful..
Thanks Holly
Hi Holly - I was so sorry to hear of your bad news - you must have been devastated.
My situation is in reverse of yours (so to speak). My daughter is now a USC as of October 2005 and she filed I-130 for us to become permanent residents and as parents we do not have to wait for a number - we get one automatically as family first preference - so the situation is completely different. We still have to go through the same process via USCIS and NVC then the files are forwarded to our Embassy - this process takes on average up to one year. But for children it is longer - you would have to ask ausiewench as she is more knowlegable than me - or anyone else going through a similar process. You would be better to start another thread - with your specific question.
I wish you the best of luck and hope things improve soon - you have my deepest sympathy.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Jenny
