This is probley a silly question. What name should my wife use to buy a airplane ticket. She has a green card which has my last name. Her passport has maiden name. Thinking about using the name on her passport. Would it be a better idea for her to use the name on her green card and bring the marrige certificate? Thanks for anyones advice.

Airline tickets must be in the same name as on the passport. You need to bring the marriage certificate with you so you can show the CBP officer upon re-entry to the USA why the passport and green card names are different.

I'd be getting her passport updated it I were you. Much easier.

Use the name on the passport. If asked why the green card doesn't not match, show them the marriage certificate. Since the passport is considered more of a Universal ID.
