Just wondering who is paying for the majority of the Visa costs?

To clarify...the cost of the whole process.
shannon65
I'm not paying for the entire thing, but a lot...including airline ticket to Korea, some of the cost of the hotel, the cost of a translation, the I-129F application fee..... he will pay for whatever fees are on his end for the visa application, not sure how much those are, and his flight to the US. I make more money and he has four kids.

I was the US citizen male petitioner. My wife and teenaged stepdaughter were the benifitiaries. My wife was a public school teacher of English in Belarus. The economy over there is nowhere near being equal in monetary terms to the USA economy and she never made more than $2500 a year tops with her teacher's salary and side jobs as an English language tutor. So it is obvious that I had to pay for most of the expenses associated with their visas. Likewise for travel expenses to the USA.

They arrived in the USA 2 years ago on March 8 and our 2nd wedding anniversary will be on March 18.

All things being relative...after 2 years of living in the USA they now see that while Americans earn more money, it costs much more to live here. And you have to hustle and struggle to get and keep what you got. Life here is not hassle free or fair. They are beginning to see that the grass is not 200% greener on the other side of the fence. Their fantasy of the super easy American life has clashed with reality. Welcome to America.

We shared in the cost, it did not really mattered who payed for what, because in the end we were together and that is all that matters...

I put beneficiary female even though it is hubby and I, ours is slightly different as out daughter is the petitioner but I would not expect her to pay anything towards it.
Kajikit
We shared the costs. My fiance paid the visa fees, booked my hotel enroute and bought my American plane ticket but I had to pay my own travel costs in Australia for my trip to have the visa interview, and then I had to save up my pension to buy my plane ticket to the US and to move my stuff. It was a struggle for either of us to find the money.
Mand
We shared the costs of the K1 and the majority of the money we got for our wedding went towards the Vaccination Supplemental and AOS fees. smile.gif
whatchatalkinboutwillis
He paid the $170 application fee. I am paying for all of the stuff on my end...medicals, passports, birth certificates, passport photos. He is saving money so that will be used for my flight to the interview.
He is going to come here and drive home with me when it is time so we will split costs for the Uhaul and the drive.
So it is about even I think.
almaty
i paid for it....
irishgirl73
I paid for the k-1 so far(the $170.00) he will be paying for his medical, the visa fee and all the future costs(he better be anyway laughing.gif )

Don't forget about all the other stuff.................my phone bills, travelling to Ireland every three months to straighten him out(believe me he needs it), the prescription costs for my "larger than life ulcer" ......................the list goes on and on. It never ends whistling.gif

He is worth every minute of it-but don't think I won't remind him of all I have done for the rest of his life wink.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif
Cassie
I paid for:
--medical fees
--flight to consulate for visa interview
--$100 US fee at visa interview
--flight to the US
--photos, etc etc

Jerry paid for:
--initial K-1 visa fee
--tons of photocopies
--FedEx fees
--a good chunk of our wedding, with the rest split by me, my parents and his parents

after we got married, the AOS/EAD/AP fees, the trip to Wichita for fingerprinting, and the trips to OKlahoma City District office were paid for by both of us. smile.gif

It's a shame we can't all "register" for Immigration fees the way people do for household items laughing.gif
Sister Fracas
shared the costs...but I did all the paperwork cuz I was worried he'd mess that up....hehehe
Shortie81
I pay for everything to include all travel arrangements and expenses
A.J.
I did. Petitioner male. Happily, I might add.
biwi
petitioner: female

though, we did share a little...
chocolaterie
I'm the Beneficiary Female and I paid for all my medical and immigration fees. But because I didn't have work authorization I did it by selling all my purrtty things=(. But I'm happy I did it because he paid for 10+ airfare trips to Canada to see wee lil me.
*Marilyn*
Hubby payed for EVERYTHING plus the last couple of months before I moved here, he would send me money heart.gif
KarenCee
We've pretty much shared the expenses...we share everything anyway. smile.gif
MrMrsKnight
We share everything....... whoever has the money to pay for it at the time, pays for it.
I paid for the translations, my visa photo, fedex..... he paid for the I129F, his b. certificate, his visa photo.... and let's see who's gonna pay for the visa fee now, I won't know until the time comes. good.gif
I did all the paper work though..... but he's taking me to Ireland.... I'd say we're even! laughing.gif star_smile.gif
sparkofcreation
He paid for the visa because we weren't planning to get married then ... AOS was paid for out of wedding presents.
bradfordplip
I can't really remember.... I guess what ever we had to pay for in USD my wife paid for, and whatever we had to pay in GBP, I paid for. It wasn't important though cos by the time we got engaged we didnt think of our money as mine and hers, but ours smile.gif
j&js
Until he got over here we each paid for things on our end. Once he got here we put all our meager money together seeing as how most of it was gifts from his family for our wedding, so now we pay for things together.

Leafgal
We are sharing costs, the Petitioner Male does make more money so he wants to pay for more. I will pay for items on my end (Canada). He has paid for flights, and hopefully an upcoming one at Easter for me to go visit him in VA. It is going to be pretty hard to try to save a few dollars I can see to have some sort of wedding that will be decent but small, especially when you are not sure when to plan for since paperwork won't actually get submitted for another week or so. Here is hoping to a fall wedding in the park.

Well I paid for the the original petition, he paid for the medical and the $100 visa fee. His father is giving us the AOS money as a wedding present as well as his ticket to the US smile.gif
raphael7546
I paid it all.
babybunny
my husband paid for the wedding stuff, plane tickets etc... A-Z
and anything else we needed. since it was faster for me to drop the money orders in the mail and over night the fees. I took care of it.
my hubby took care of his medical and that.
canadalaura
I paid for everything except for the initial petitioning fee. Benificiary female. I just had more money, it was an easy choice smile.gif
Cdnwmn
He (the petitioner) did back then - the whole shebang.
luvaLimey
I've been paying for things on my end, and he's been paying for thing on his.
He paid for photos, and copies and postage to send all his papwerwork to me.
I paid for photos over here, and endless copies, and the filing fee.
I'm sure when he goes for his intrview, he'll pay the service fee there as well as the medical exam.

As for flights & hotels and stuff... each time we've seen each other, he's been footing the bill. But I'm paying for my next trip over to see him.

Money's pretty tight for both of us right now, but we're doing whatever we can to make this work.

I also think more important than who is paying for what, is the fact he's working every day to try and pay off his debts and even save up enough that he'll be able to contribute here even when he's waiting to be able to work. And the fact that he's paying an even bigger price: he's uprooting himself, leaving everything and everyone he knows to live in Utah, of all places.
Autumnal
I paid for it, but that was because the boy had just started work. smile.gif
Fischkoepfin
Both the same, since it's going out of our joint account into which we both deposit our paychecks/scholarship money. Wouldn't work otherwise because there's no way either of us could pay for it alone.
Welshcookie
His money has become our money for a long time now....but if I manage to get a job by the time we file I figure anything we can pay in pounds (like the medicals) it will come from my account
ChristinaM
My hubby paid for my immigration and supported me whilst I was waiting for AOS, but I'm supporting him now since he took a course in September and is now finishing his studying for the exams so I guess in the overall scheme of things it's working out prettey equally.
Mcdonald
My hubby, who is a USC, paid for all the petition fees and I paid for the medical and visa.
jasman0717
I paid, Claudeth shopped biggrin.gif
tom&tata
The fee paid on US said was done by hubby, I paid for the medical, translation relates to the consulate requirement. It's all our money
rejane

We shared the cost.
I paid for the medical, the fees at the embassy.
For AOS, EAD my husband paid most of it.
Miranda&James
I (Miranda) paid for the original I-129F application ($165) and James has paid for the fees assosciated with London, so he has probably ended up paying more than me. When he gets here it will be split evenly since we'll be married and the money will be shared!

I'd pay anything required just to have my love with me. heart.gif
Luis&Laura
WeŽre sharing the costs. I mean, heŽs paying the I-129F fee, and any fees he has with notarizing and copies he must take, and IŽll pay the fee for the interview, plus all the fees with medical, translations, police certificates, etc I have here in Brasil.
mayhem1978
Im footing the fees simply because she is not in work at the moment.
CarolineM
we split most of the costs.

He paid for all medical and police checks and all that.
He paid for our plane tix and lodging in sydney.

I paid for the actual visa and used FF to go to Australia.
Wedding money paid for his flight here.

arwensun1965

i paid for it....

ditto... no explanation necessary
ivona
it was never an issue for us, we are both professionals with a decent income so it just seemed easier to not complicate things with money transfers and some such.....
so David payed everything connected to the I-129F filing, and I`m financing everything neccessary from this side- like all the documents and translations, medical and visa issuance cost....
when it comes to AOS, and all the things needed after I move, it will already be one household with our money, instead of his or mine.....who pays for what will be a nonexistent issue at that point
Angelica
We've shared as and when. wink.gif

He sent the payment for the visa application, I will pay for the medical, shots, consulate etc. I'll pay for the move. And he will likely cover the rest of the process as I won't be working!

I'm still waiting patiently for a ring. ClockWatch2.gif
sukie175
I paid in the UK, he paid in the USA good.gif
