Full Version: Question about Interview in Montreal

Friends:

I talked to NVC yesterday and they tell me that my wife's application has been approved. They are now waiting for Montreal to get back to them with an interview date. They said I could call back tomorrow (Friday) to learn whether her interview will be in April or whether we will need to wait till May.

My question is: Can she quit her job now, or will the interviewer want her to have a job at the time of the interview or does it not matter.

Thanks,
Ernie

ernie,

My wife just got her CR-1 visa from Montreal. Our case was completed on December 6th 2006 at the NVC and her interview was on March 7th. So it took 3 months for the interview. I would think that you are probably looking at a 3 month wait for the interview. For some reason Montreal Interviews take forever. About your wife quitting her job, my wife did not have a job at the time of the interview, I do not think they care. They are more interested in the US citizens job. So it would be up to her, knowing it could be a few months until the interview
All the best

Ya, mtl seem sto be slow from gettin that final approval to the actual interview date, so you may have a few more months waiting. They won't care if the Canadian is working or not. Best of luck

to piggy back on that question...

Does it matter if the USC switches job (but hopefully making the above the poverty guideline) between the time of getting stuff approved at NVC and at the Montreal interview?

thanks!

Hi Karina,
It's often best to start a new thread instead of piggy backing on another one like this. Your chances of getting a relevant answer will be allot better.

no, as long as the USC provides the fiance with the appropriate information -- a letter of employment from his new employer, with date of hire and salary, and that the USC makes over the poverty guideline.

My husband changed jobs 3 weeks before my visa interview, so I took his previous employment information (which he used to fill out the affidavit of support form) and current employment information with me. I explained what happened when asked for that information, the clerk took all the paperwork, and I wasn't asked about it again.

phew! *sigh of relief* Ok. that's good to know, Cassie! thanks for your advice smile.gif

you're welcome. smile.gif
you can also email or call the embassy if they require anything different or additional to what I have described to you -- it's been a couple of years since my interview and requirements may have changed. But I at least wanted you to hear about my personal experience with this topic. smile.gif
