NVC accepts the DS-230 as is, whether it's signed or not, or signed by the immigrant or the agent or the petitioner. Since the document will be at the interview, I assume the immigrant could sign it there in front of the consular officer.

The DS-230 Part I has to be signed by the applicant not the agent, not the petitioner. The DS-230 Part II must be signed in front of the consul at the US Embassy so leave part II unsigned. You don't want the risk of signature fraud.

NVC won't accept a faxed copy, photocopy, etc. You must send the original. They will be looking for fresh signature pressed through the document.

I agree. I noticed you timeline is not updated. Please do that so we can assist you better. Are you at the NVC stage yet? I was thinking of completing the DS-230 part I & II ahead of time so I can send it to my husband for his signature. Once he does that and send it back I will date it when I'm ready to send it in. Just a thought.

I am thinking I will get a ds230 with the bar code case number printed on it, that is why it may not work for me to have him print one and send it to me .. unsure.gif
I have to get a copy of his passport anyway to send back with the ds 230 I when i get it...i still hate to see this take 4 more weeks crying.gif
good luck to all of you .. rose.gif

Yes have him do that now and then you can create the bar code later via the James Shortcuts.

It's a way to help w/the NVC stage to have your case move along faster. Try doing a search for "James Shortcuts", you will find it very useful.

Here they are http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=117

They're very detailed on all the steps you have to do to get your barcodes and even how you can e-mail NVC for your choice of agent.
