Hi all,

I've been living in the Uk for the past 2 1/2 years with my husband, and haven't been filing my taxes (didn't realize you had to until I started looking into bringing my husband to the states blush.gif ). Hence, no tax returns. I could file the last 2 years late, but I don't even have the W-2s from the job I finished at the very beginning of the first year I didn't file (ahhhh!!!) or the P60 for my UK job for that year (brit equivalent). Because I have no US income, I was going to have my father co-sponsor anyway.

Are tax returns necessary if you are using a co-sponsor to meet the requirement on the affidavit of support? How much trouble is this going to get me in? Help!

Thanks everyone,
Laura

I believe that is one of the requirements, whether it's for the sponsor or co-sponsor. The last 3 paystubs, letter from employer and US bank statements are also back up evidence to show that you or your co-sponsor are 125% over the US poverty line.

Suggest you read in the DCF Forum here at VJ for tips from others in your situation (living abroad, back tax returns). The IRS in London is quite helpful if you don't get what you need from the info already posted.
